Christmas with flu? Well that was fun… NOT. A terrible ending to a terrible year. It was starting to look like the new year wasn’t going to be much better. Nerd had just hoped that by the time he was bringing in the new year he’d be able to say he was a free man ready to start again, but instead it was just getting worse by the day. He was sick of the drama, he was sick of taking a moment to check the new message on his phone because he was so worried what the message would contain, and he was sick of locking himself indoors for fear of who he’d bump into. Enough was enough. Nerd made the effort to get up and dressed before heading out to his car. To anyone that knew his end destination, they’d think it bizarre that he’d picked up his car keys, but they didn’t know that he not only had an end destination -- He had a PLAN! This plan started with a quick trip to the grocery store. After over 20 years of people gawking at him as he walked past in his bright colors with his crazy hair, Nerd himself would have thought he’d be used to it. When things were good, it was like all the looks and comments didn’t matter, he was so happy that it rolled like water off a ducks back. But now? It was like he was conscious and insecure about who he was all over again, not that anyone would know. He was a pro at acting like it didn’t matter. But he was who he was. He couldn’t change. He wouldn’t.
It felt like he was in that grocery store for an eternity and when he finally left it was like being able to breathe again. He’d pushed the stuff into his passenger seat and driven back home. He drove up his street, pulling up outside the house, but instead of going into his own house, Nerd headed next door. He rang the bell and waited for an answer, a bag of shopping in one hand and a rather festive, rather giant bag in the other. The door pulled open and a blonde haired imp stood looking at him, as the dangly red head raised his arms slightly. “Happy late Christmas.” He said with a cheeky smirk.

Mia mindlessly flicked through the channels of the TV not really taking in what was showing. She was thinking about how much her boss had bullied her this morning at work. She hated it there she wasn’t even sure why she stayed there she just knew that having a job was helping her keep her life on track right now. She flicked up through the channels again to the music stations and stopped on her favourite Rihanna song turning it up a little she began to sing along. Music always cheered her up she sung louder and the tone of her voice became even closer to that of a cat screeching. She was just about to come up to her big finish when the door bell rang.
Standing up she sighed and turned the TV back down and threw the remote onto the sofa. She moved over to the window and peered out wondering who it could be and not really wanting to answer due to the fact she was in her PJ’s and looking what she believed was a mess. However when she saw a flash of ginger she rushed to the front door and opened it widely not caring how she looked and grinned at the guy stood before her. He raised his arms and wished her a happy late Christmas. Mia looked at the bags he had in his hands “And to you too! I guess you’re feeling better?” she smiled some more moving from the doorway to let him pass. She let him walk through first then closed the front door and followed behind. “What’s with the bags?” she asked inquisitively her eyes lingering on the festive looking one.

There was something about Missy Mia. Nerd knew he should see her as another little sister, that was always he role he’d imagined she’d take in his life. It wasn’t through the need or desire for another sister that Mia came into his life, in fact it was a complete fluke. The fact her brother was now married to Nerd’s little sister made Mia family, so he really should have thought of her as family, he just couldn’t. She wasn’t. She was more than that. They always knew how to have fun together, so when the pyjama clad young thing opened the door with bounds of energy and a grin on her face, Nerd knew today was going to be no exception. He’d wandered in as she moved and stood rather awkwardly in the hall way. It seemed it didn’t matter how many times he’d been to this house, it still didn’t feel right just traipsing in. “Yush, officially flu-less.” He said, turning and casting her a wink before handing her the Christmassy gift bag. It was completely Nerd-y gift; an old Sega Megadrive completely with every game he could get his hands on. “I have the makings of the best dinner you’ve ever eaten in this bag, as well as desert and this..” he nodded down at the bag. “Is your very late Christmas present.” [/size]
