She waited, watching the woman trying to process what she was just told. Would she be able to figure out what she was? If not then Nikita would just consider to leave it as a blank. A mystery. But she did it. She nailed her supernatural being right on the head. First guess and everything. Good guess.
“Never? Well…here I am then. Your first demon in the flesh.” She outstretched her arms as if presenting herself. “And yes, it is a good thing. I‘m not half as bad as other demons can be. I still remember what it‘s like being human while others are just hung up on hurting people for fun.” It was a shame too. They gave demons like her a bad name. No wonder it was so hard trying to convince others she wasn‘t that type.
However, the next set of questions were amusing to her. Aubrie didn‘t beat around the bush on that. But now Nikita had to decide what name to give her. If she was this calm over everything else her real name might not be such a big deal to give. “I mostly give my host‘s name which is Lucy but my name is Nikita. I‘m trying to keep myself on the DL from people in my past so I very rarely use Nikita.”

Aubrie nodded at Nikita's words.
The conversation was helping to keep her mind off of the jumbled, sporadic thoughts that were still threatening to overwhelm her. By focusing on Nikita, Aubrie had a sort of anchor to the here and now, something that she could use to keep control. Plus, it was pretty exciting to be sitting there talking to a real demon!
"This might sound a little personal, but..." Aubrie hesitated, biting her lip as she thought about her next words. "Will you lose that, eventually, as time passes? Your humanity, I mean. Will you become more like those other demons, all bitter and twisted and stuff?"

The question Aubrie had for her was a very good one. Something she herself wondered every day. Would she really become as twisted as demons like Meph? Well, she was always a demon anyway so it was doubtful she ever knew what it was like to be human. To laugh, have fun, fall in love. Nikita remembered all those things quite clear. Her heart was still chasing the same guy; even in death.
“You know...I wonder that every day myself.” She paused, inhaling then slowly releasing a deep sigh. “I‘ve been a demon for twelve years already and I feel no different. Except sometimes I have to remind myself things like act like I‘m cold cause everyone else does. So I don‘t stand out as much. I do get bad urges sometimes but I think since I interact with people still…it‘s helped to keep me feeling human.” She finished with a half smile as she shot a glance to Aubrie, as if saying people like her helped keep her sanity.

Aubrie shivered again, rubbing her arms for warmth.
She nodded at Nikita's words, thinking about them. It would be horrible, she thought, to become one of them, one of the sick, twisted souls who became demons. Nikita seemed to be unique among them, and surprisingly Aubrie found that she didn't feel afraid or uncomfortable at all around the woman. This certainly wasn't how she'd envisioned her first meeting with a demon to go, at any rate...
"So you choose to live a human life, then? To surround yourself with them, so that you can remember who to feel human too?" Aubrie chuckled, shaking her head. "I'm afraid its the complete opposite with me... Spending too much time around 'normal' people just makes me... uncomfortable, I guess? I mean, sometimes I'm just bombarded by their thoughts, or their feelings, you know?" She sighed, her shoulders slumping a bit. "I feel like a freak around them, honestly. But around other people like me, people who aren't 'normal' I don't get that... I mean, I do sometimes, but usually I can't pick up on anything from them."
Aubrie shrugged, shivering again and saying, "It's just nice... It's quiet around you."

”Yes, that‘s right,” She nodded her head at Aubrie. Most humans she chose to be around didn‘t know she was a demon except now she did. Nikita was fine with that because the woman was nothing too ordinary herself. Maybe not a demon, but definitely not human. Not completely anyway. She did seem to be curious about demons though. Nikita was fine with that too.
Aubrie knew what it was like being a freak around humans because she had dealings with it too. Her ability making her head too noisy, probably even giving her headaches a good amount of time. That was no way to live. So it seemed they enjoyed each other‘s company. They could be freaks together and not having to feel bad about it.
“You‘re not getting anything from me?” She asked, suddenly curious. “You do seem to be shivering a lot but I assume it‘s cause you feel cold? Here, take this.” Undoing her sweater she extended it to Aubrie who appeared frozen compared to the hot blooded demon. “I run hot so I don‘t mind.”

Aubrie eyed the sweater dubiously.
She was wary of taking any personal objects from people. It was in the nature of her abilities that, more often than not, when she came into contact with such objects she'd pick up some residual memories or emotions from them. It was quite bothersome, really, but she'd learned long ago not to take such offers from people. Still, though... It seemed that Nikita didn't cause her powers to go out of control (as if they were ever in control), so maybe it would be alright.
Hesitantly, Aubrie took the sweater with one gloved hand, holding it for a moment, relieved that everything still remained quiet. Smiling her thanks, she slipped the garment on, almost immediately feeling warmer and more comfortable. In fact, it was quite a bit warmer than she'd been expecting, probably due to the fact that Nikita had been wearing it just seconds before. She sighed in relief and closed her eyes.
"Thanks... I'm sorry, I'm not sure what to call you I guess. Lucy, or Nikita?" She chuckled lightly, shaking her head. "And I have to say, I never would have thought that my first encounter with a demon would end up with said demon letting me borrow her jacket!"

It seemed they had another thing in common. It‘s like feeling lost but not exactly. More like being unsure of things. For both of them it seemed to be because of what they were. Nikita felt lost sometimes when it came to human things because of the years she spent as a demon and Aubrie seemed to have a similar problem because of her abilities. It must‘ve been really relieving for her to be with Nikita right now. It must get lonely being Aubrie at times. She couldn‘t help feeling sad for the poor woman. She seemed so nice too.
“Well, since you already know my name…I guess you could call me Nikita.” She offered a warm smile, glad that Aubrie settled in with her sweater. She didn‘t like watching the woman shake because of being cold. Regardless, she wouldn‘t like seeing her shake; no matter the reason. “Who woulda thought? It‘s good you didn‘t get one of the others instead… Even I hate them. You know how hard it is trying to remind the other kinda demon they don‘t have to be such a blank robot? Not very,” She said with a disappointed expression.

Aubrie nodded at the woman's words, sighing with relief.
As she'd been talking with Nikita, all of the residual memories from her earlier touch-reading had begun to fade, and she could finally feel her own mind taking control once again. The horrendous feelings and thoughts of the child murderer were still there, of course, and they would be some days to come, but at least they had been shoved to the back of her mind, rather than dominating her every thought.
And she was warm now, too. Aubrie always hated it when she wasn't in her right mind, and did foolish things like blunder out into the cold night without a jacket. And that wasn't near the worst thing that she'd done, after getting burnt out from a touch-reading... She was fortunate that all she was only cold, and not unconscious in a ditch somewhere, which had happened more than she'd like to admit.
Sighing again, Aubrie leaned back and closed her eyes. It was true what she'd said earlier: it was peaceful, and quiet around Nikita. She wasn't able to pick up on any stray thoughts or feelings from the demon, and it was comforting to be able to talk to someone about her abilities without being thought of as a freak.
"Thanks again," Aubrie said softly, stifling a yawn. "For the sweater, and for listening to me..." She shrugged, not bothering to hide the yawn this time as warmth and exhaustion began to overtake her. "Thanks for not making me feel like a freak..."

It was nice. Seeing that Aubrie was finally starting to relax. She almost looked like she could just fall asleep on this bench with the way she let loose. It made Nikita smile. She thought the woman was sweet and very interesting. She didn‘t get to meet people like her too often. Usually she tried to avoid it from happening. She didn‘t want anyone coming onto what she was and try to harm her thinking she was like every other demon out there. Because she wasn‘t. Aubrie didn’t seem to think it either.
“No problem. It‘s just nice to see you finally relax.” She responded, chuckling lightly over the freak comment. “Ditto,” She flashed Aubrie a smile. “Would you like to go for coffee or something?” It was intended because of how cold it was outside and a nice hot beverage just sounded nice right now.

Aubrie perked up a bit.
God, coffee sounded so good right now... And this time of night, she knew that most of the diners and coffee shops in town would be pretty dead, which suited her just fine. In her current state, the fewer people she had to deal with, the better. The thought of being inside, somewhere warm, with a nice hot drink before her... It was making Aubrie's mouth water.
Unfortunately, her jacket hadn't been the only thing that Aubrie'd neglected to bring with her tonight. She had no purse, no wallet, and no money. She groaned when she realized this, her shoulders slumping a bit. Hell, it looked like she'd have to rely on the nasty sludge that passed for coffee at her hotel...
'I'd like to, really, but... I don't have any money on me, so..." She shrugged, letting the thought go unfinished.
