Hot damn, but he’d never get over how beautiful his wife looked in the moonlight. For a minute, as she whirled around to give him that ‘oh crap, I DIDN’T DO IT!’ look, he had to pause to appreciate the way her hair practically glowed in the dim lighting. How had he managed to stay away from her for so long? And how had another man not scooped her up and carried her away?
…Drat, the mere thought of his wife in another man’s arms were enough to make his teeth lengthen into those telling points. Clamping his lips shut to keep from scaring the crap out of their guest, he forced his mind to the present.
Crossing his arms over his chest, he merely raised a brow at Lexi’s cute little stammer. ”Yes, love, it went fine…and an uninvited guest, hmm?” His eyes narrowed as his eyes flickered to Connor’s face. He had a suspicion about what was going on, and sighed when the thief himself confirmed it.
Someone had tried to break into his home, while his family was alone, unprotected. He knew that Lexi was powerful enough to stop anything save a God, attempting to harm his loved ones…but the mere thought of someone breaching the sanctity of their humble abode was enough to make him see red.
And given that he was a vampire, that was always a bad thing. Red made him hungry…angry…violent. If it weren’t for the beautiful blond trading veiled threats with the man, he would have certainly been buried in various places in the backyard by now.
Taking a step toward Connor, Tristian had to mentally stop himself from giving into the urge to launch across the room and have at the poor man. ”A new job, you say? Interesting…you managed to break through the estate’s defenses, which means that you’re quite good at what you do. And you’re not as…gifted as my wife, which means I could kill you if you ever try to hurt them,” He smiled then, giving the thief a show of fang. ”How would you like to work for my family? James Industries always has need of those capable of obtaining certain…information.”
He glanced at his wife, raising a brow.

Before he could stop himself, Connor actually chuckled at the mention of the estate's "defenses."
Realizing what he'd done, the thief had the good grace to look down, fidgeting a bit uncomfortably. God, he'd really done it this time. Yeah, he'd thought there was something strange when he'd been working his way in here and come across no security measures at all. Turns out that was because the place was filled with psychos and nut jobs...
Jesus, did that guy have fangs?
"Look," Connor began, "I didn't mean no offense or anythin', its just that you guys have an awful lotta nice stuff around here, and no security to speak of, ya know?" He shrugged, once again wishing that these guys would just call the cops already and get it over with. They were freaking him out. "I mean, 's almost like you were just beggin' to get robbed..." Yeah, that sounded so much better. What a night...
When the fangy guy mentioned something about a job, Connor was confused. Seriously, what the hell was going on here? Who walks in on a thief in their home then offers them a job? There as no way, no way, that he could be serious. And there was no way that Connor would be stupid enough to even consider accepting such a screwball offer.
Then again, it might be exciting... And regular work would be a nice change from just taking jobs here and there.
Flashing his most charming smile, Connor apparently forgot all of his earlier misgivings as he asked:
"So, what kinda work are we talkin' here?"

Well, this had certainly turned more interesting. Lexi didn't know whether to be concerned about Tristians fangs popping out or amused at the look on the burglars face. She had a feeling he was getting much, MUCH more than he bargained for when he decided to steal a few trinkets. She almost felt sorry for him. Almost being the key word. He had been breaking the law after all. The only thing that saved him her wrath was the fact he'd come unarmed and evidently didn't intend to do anyone harm. What kind of robber did THAT anyways? Maybe he wasn't all there in the head. Shaking her head, Lexi turned her attention back ot her husband and gave a small shrug. Her husband knew her to well to pretend any sort of innocence so she simply motioned to the man. And then her handsome husband decided to do the unexpected. He offered the man a job. Lexi didn't know who was more surprised.. her or the criminal. It wasn't normal procedure to go around offering jobs to people who broke into your house but then.. They weren't exactly normal were they? Still... Lexi wasn't so sure about all this. However, she kept her mouth shut and allowed the men to talk as she narrowed her gaze on her husband and waited to see what it was exactly that he had up his sleeve. (Sorry.. its short but.. I figured the men were talking soooo... LOL)

He could practically feel Lexi’s curious eyes smacking his cheek, but he ignored the sensation for the moment being. He’d surprised them both…hell, he surprised himself, given that he didn’t like handing over job offers to men he’d just met. Not to mention that the impromptu meeting had just gone down after a would-be robbery! But there was just something in Connor’s eyes…something about the confident way he held himself and asked for the police, instead of trying to do something as foolish as attack them to save himself. He didn’t see any weapons on the man; if there had been, Lexi would probably have hurt him much worse than she already did, so he hadn’t come there to spill blood.
He was just an ordinary thief, who had chosen a very inordinary home to break into. He was human, which mean the wards around their house hadn’t been breached, and if he got too unruly, he could be easily killed…and anything he might have touched in the house could be used to run a thorough background check.
The information both calmed and intrigued the vampire, as he looked down at his wife’s captive. He had many less-than-savory characters in his employ- after turning vampire, he’d begun to lose that ‘holier than thou’ outlook on the world- and found their methods of obtaining information quite…satisfying.
”My love, I think you can release him now,” He said, sliding an arm around his wife’s waist. ”He’s obviously no threat anymore. As for what jobs…how good are you at finding people? Or breaking into well fortified facilities such as, say…a government building?”
((Hehe, sorry to keep dragging this out; I do have an idea for a job, but I'm still putting the pieces together in mah head. Since this was originally going on during the first Simi plot- hehe...I think, anyway- I was thinking of something different. Now...hmmmm. XD ))

Shrugging at Tristian's questions, Connor chuckled a bit.
"You seriously lookin' to hire me for a heist or somethin'?" he asked, disbelieving. "I mean, after I fouled up here and all? Damn, man, you must be pretty hard up." Allowing himself another light chuckle, he began to seriously think about the man's words, wondering what was really going on here. Well, he'd tell it to him straight, then pray to hell that they'd just call the cops and get him outta there...
"Finding people's tricky sometimes," he admitted, rubbing the top of his bald head nervously. "Can be done, though, if you don't mind me calling in for a bit of help from some contacts of mine. As far as breaking into to places--any places, mind you--I'm your guy." Realizing how foolish that sounded after having just been caught, he quickly added, "Well, long as normal circumstances apply, anyway."
Cautiously, Connor tried to move his body again, and was relieved to find that he once again had full control. Thank God. Now that he could move again, he actually felt a bit more comfortable, and he began pacing absently around the room, trying to remain as nonthreatening as possible.
"There're a couple things you should know, though," he said, returning his attention back to the pair. "First off, I don't kill. Ever. It's not even up for debate, got it? Just not worth it to take someone out, ya know what I mean? I do this for the thrill, and 'cause I'm good at it, not because I like hurtin' people. Second, I don't lie. Takes too much energy to lie, and tellin' the truth's just a helluva lot simpler, know what I mean?"
That last fact had actually gotten him in trouble a lot in the past, but it was one of those personal decisions that he'd never broken. Of course, he'd learned how to bypass it over the years, mostly by just keeping his mouth shut, but that sometimes led to problems of its own as well. It was just a lose/lose situation sometimes...
"So, long as you can accept those terms, I think we oughtta get along just fine... Unless, of course, you just wanna call the cops and get ridda me. I don't mind, really..."

Well... it seemed like even after 30 years of marriage...Her handsome husband could still surprise her. Ten years ago, he'd have simply called the police and turned the burglar over to them for their brand of justice. Now though... It seemed that there were hidden agenda's in his every movement and Lexi wasn't exactly sure she felt comfortable with it all. Although they'd worked through the shock of Tristian coming back from the dead... There was still so much she didn't know about the time they'd spent apart and she suspected that there was another woman involved even though he had pledged his love eternally to her. Just the mere thought that there might have been another in his bed for a time made her fingers curl into her arms and she suddenly found herself not so amused. Deciding it was best to leave the men to their "planning", the beautiful blond pushed away from the mahogany desk that she'd come to lean upon. "Well, It seems that you two have this well in hand.... If you'll excuse me.. I'd like to make sure no one else was disturbed and check to see if my daughter has called and left any messages." Avoiding Tristians gaze, Lexi nodded to the other man and released her spells before slipping towards the door. She didn't like it when her wits were scattered and they were definitely scrambled. Pausing momentarily in the door, she glanced back to say. "When you are finished, Tristian, I will be in bed..... Good Evening, gentleman..." And with that, she disappeared out the door.
