Even before the war, when he’d been as carefree as he’d ever been, he’d never felt this damn peaceful. There was always something to worry about, or some drama that he had to help his sister out with; always something to keep him half tensed and on his toes. Now, however, with this one woman in his arms…he was relaxed. Completely, beautifully content.
Lazily, he traced those smiling lips with his thumb and looked into her eyes. He’d never thought he’d ever settle down, but he could safely say that he wouldn’t mind looking into those eyes for the rest of his life. Even if she drove him to drink every other minute.
…But would she stay with him in the next few years? Like a whisper, familiar doubts threatened to invade the peacefulness he felt. Doctors had told him that he would lose his sight by the time he turned 40. He’d be useless; not a Hunter, not a soldier…not a man. She would continue to hunt, and what would he do? Wait at home and pray that she didn’t get hurt?
The thought made him tense under her, and the hand currently resting on her hip tightened a bit, before he forced it to relax. Her voice soothed him, giving him the strength to hold onto the moment with both hands. A small smile tugged at his lips as he let his eyes travel over her naked form.
”Baby, believe me…that really wasn’t meant to be a threat. Feel free to make me ‘punish’ you.” Playfully, he leaned his head up to give the side of her neck a kiss before settling back. At the serious look on her face, he sighed and prepared himself for whatever was coming next.
While her words pricked something in his chest, the mere fact that she’d said she loved him gave him some hope. Maybe if she acknowledged it, understood it, she wasn’t going to run out on him? Letting his fingers caress her hip, he sighed and squinted up at her in the dark.
”I’m not expecting you to change or become any kind of housewife. Hell, Jessie…growing up with my mother, do you really think I’d expect that of you?” A wry grin pulled at his lips as he raised a brow at her. ”I want you, baby, just as you are. All I ask is that you try to look at me like a partner, rather than…whatever’s scaring the hell out of you. I love you, Jessie, and I wouldn’t try to change you.”

Well, hell.
Her husband sure knew how to take the wind out of her sails.
In more ways that one.
Curled up there in the backseat of her old charger, Jessie couldn't bring herself to really regret it though. To be honest, it felt good to have it all out in the open. The urge to run wasn't nipping at her butt at the moment and she had to admit.. She was tired. Tired of running.. Tired of fighting.. Tired of trying to prove she was tougher than she really was. She'd been doing it all her life and she suddenly found that she was exhausted from the effort. All she wanted to do was curl up in Jerichos strong arms and let someone else take care of HER for a change.
And wasn't that realization just a kick in the pants? Boy howdy, how the mighty had fallen. Head over heals and so deep that she had a feeling that losing him might just kill her.
Seriously... It was enough to make her wonder if she'd fallen into an alternate universe or something!
That thought still spinning in her brain, the young huntress lifted her head and gazed down into her husbands dark eyes. Trailing slim fingers over his chest, the caramel haired beauty grinned a bit as she spoke.
"You have heard that sayin about a guy always marries a woman like his mother, right? Wouldn't that just serve you right!' she teased before growing serious. "And I love you to, Jericho.. I didn't want to.. and I can't say I'm to happy about it... but I do... and if there is one thing true about Coulters its that once we do the deed... We never stray. Its just not in as. Loyalty, honor and love are three things we don't screw around with... Granted, its a slightly tweeked brand of honor we live by but we don't do things half measured... Now that I've admitted how I feel.... Don't break my heart or it will be the last thing you ever do.. Got it??"
Poking him gently with a finger, she stressed her point.
"Your stuck with me now so any regrets or second thoughts you might have... Your just going to have to live with. I'm never going to be a comfortable wife but I'll give you everything I have and then some..If you can live with that.. Then I guess I can do my share in this relationship."
Just then, the sound of the back door banging on the bar brought Jessies head up. Through the front window, she saw the bartender tossing a huge bag in the dumpster and glance their way. Eeping, she ducked down since the fog no longer covered the windows and heard the sound of the man's chuckles from outside. Groaning, she eyed her husband before sighing.
"And one of these days, we have GOT to stop being caught naked in the backseat like a couple horny teenagers!!!"

k i s s m e o n t h e s i d e w a l kt a k e a w a y t h e p a i n b e c a u s e i s e e[ SPARKS FLY ]- - - - - - - - - - Goosebumps prickled his skin as her fingers ran over his chest, and his eyes fluttered shut for a minute as he basked in her touch. He’d been with enough women over the years to appreciate having one tucked into his side, but right then? Right then, he was sure that this was the one he wanted close to him during the day and sprawled over him at night.
And when he knew he should have been frightened of such a thought…he wasn’t. There was just a sense of calm where the urge to run should have been. Well, lookit that.
Giving her a little scowl, Jericho shuddered dramatically at her playful comment. ”All I can say is when you start streaking your hair and cropping it insanely short, I’m going to divorce you. Married to my mother…you DO know who my mother is, don’t you? The psychotic woman who owns a biker bar? GAH.”
With a chuckle, he leaned his head forward to place a kiss on her forehead. And while she seemed to become more serious after every passing second, he couldn’t help but look amused. She didn’t want to love him? Well, thanks a lot there, wife… ”Jeeze, Jessie…do you really think that I would’ve stuck around this long and dealt with all your ‘intimacy issues’ if I were going to stray? Woman, you really don’t know who I’m related to, do you? I’ve got wolf blood in me, babe and when he find our mates, that’s it,” His eyes softened as he trailed his hands over her bare hips and his voice went quiet. ”I ain’t going anywhere and that’s a fact. We’re gonna be partners, dig? So hell yeah, you’re gonna be part of this damn relationship, or I’m gonna tie you to my bed and keep you there ‘til you accept it.”
When the backdoor banged open, Jericho tensed, instinctively putting his arms around Jessie, as if to shield her body with his own. He wasn’t lying when he claimed to have most of his father’s instincts, minus the ability to shift and Jessie was probably going to have quite a lot to deal with by way of protectiveness, after this. Before, when he wasn’t sure if she understood the fact that she was his, he’d given her some leeway. But now that she’d finally got it through that cute skull that they were in it for the long haul (and no, that didn’t sound creepy at all…dammit)? Those instincts were chomping at the bit.
Swatting her on the behind as he reached for her blouse, he draped it over her bare back as a cocky grin slid onto his lips. ”Why? You wanna act like crusty old people instead? ‘Honey; go bend over and get my cane…oh yeah, that s the ticket!” He made his voice sound hoarse and ‘old,’ laughing at the dirty joke.

Oh man, oh man, oh MAN! She was in so much trouble.
Jericho was saying all the things she'd always longed to hear and her feet weren't moving. Instead of taking off like a jet plane, she was sprawled naked on his chest and wondering if he was up for round two. In the middle of an abandoned parking lot, no less. Her daddy would paddle her ass if he only knew all the escapades she'd gotten into in the past but this.. This one definitely topped the cake.
And she couldn't bring herself to care in the least. Good God how the mighty had fallen.
She had been bitten by the love bug. Bitten hard and good and there was no escaping now. Actually, come to think of it, it wasn't the love bug at all but that stupid freaking CUPID. Instead of the rage she had always felt in the past though towards the diaper wearing douche bag, a feeling of gratitude welled up inside. Hell, maybe she should shake his hand instead. The good lord knew she'd never have allowed herself to fall into this on her own!
That thought alone was enough to give her shivers. Thank God for Jericho and his sense of timing. His humorous words made her chuckle and roll her eyes. Grabbing at the shirt he drapped on her, she sat up and enjoyed the sight of him trying to struggle into his own clothing. The warmth in her middle that had never really died blazed back to life but she tamped it down even as her cell phone suddenly started going off on the floor.
Frowning, she leaned down and picked it up, recognizing Colt's number. Hitting the send button, she held it to her ear and gave her normal greeting. It went down hill from there. For the next few minutes, she yelled and cursed at her brother until he hung up on her and she was left staring at the screen. No amount of calling back got him to pick up the other end and she finally threw it across the vehicle so it hit the dash and bounced into the front seat.
“Get dress, Jericho..We're going to Vegas to beat some sense into my thick brained brother.”
