Okay, so when he’d seen the obviously frightened kid on their doorstep, ‘this is Riley, our son’ was definitely the last thing he’d expected Lexi to say. Shock had him freezing right where he was, with his arm tightening around his wife’s waist until he was liable to leave a mark. Their…son? No, Bastian was their only son. The other…the baby died after it was born. This…was impossible.
Said the supernatural Hunter turned vampire. Good God, there was a reason why he got up in the morning…he knew there was. Would his family EVER have a normal day?
With a little shake, he forced himself to release his wife before he hurt her, and eyed the young man. He had to hand it to him; the kid was definitely taking all of this well. It was obvious that he wasn’t used to anything magic related, and the whole ‘I’m your mommy!’ thing was enough to make any sane person do a double take. But, there he was, all cool under pressure and talking to them as reasonably as any good businessman.
Right there; that was enough to persuade Tristian to believe that his wife hadn’t just blown a gasket somewhere upstairs. The James men had always been known for their calm ways.
Keeping himself close to Lexi, the vampire frowned as the young man proceeded to explain his situation to them. Everything he was saying made sense; their baby had died after he was born, if he possessed any of Lexi’s inherent abilities, he’d know that magic was indeed real…this couldn’t be his son. Could he?
Putting a hand on her arm, the elder man gave her a ‘what are you DOING?’ look. ”Honey…why don’t you let the boy move, hmm? He can’t be our son. Our baby died, remember? This…he can’t be our son.” ___________________________________________________________________________ Word Count enough Inspiration ACDC FOR THE WIN Tags Lexi and Riley Status Complete Template By Arro @ Caution 2.0 Picture By Credit pic here!

Lexi felt as if she were moving in a daze. Her eyes were glue on the young man across from her and she knew.. SHE KNEW .. that she was seeing a ghost. A ghost of a child that was long thought dead but evidently was not.
HOW THE FUCK HAD THIS HAPPENED??
Memories of that night flooded back even as her nails dug into her own skin in an attempt to calm the raging storm.
She'd been a little over seven months along when she be trapped by two demons searching for Dean and Sam. Tristian had been out of town helping an infect city with Croatian and she'd been trying to help a local church feed the hordes fo homeless that had flocked to New Orleans. Sebastian had been at home with Betsy under the protection of all the spells and traps they come make but she'd been alone.
Alone and vulnerable. Even the remembrance gave her nightmares.
From out of the dark they'd come and, because of her advanced state, she was slow on the uptake. They'd taken deep delight in taunting her even as she reached for the magic that was always haywire while she was pregnant and she'd even taken a knife to shoulder. The male had gotten in a few good jabs before she'd thrown them back with her magic and managed to get out of the car. The female had thrown herself in front of the vehicle in an attempt to keep her from getting away but Lexi had never taken her foot off the pedal. The crunch of the body underneath her wheels still haunted her but it had been her or them and she'd chosen life for herself and her baby.
Or so she'd thought at the time. She'd gone into labor just miles down the road and only just managed to pull to the side of the road where a local cop had found her in severe pain and rushed her to the hospital. Only vague flashes of memory remained from that moment on. She'd thought she'd heard a baby cry at some point but she'd been to far under sedation to be sure and when she'd come to.... She'd been told her baby had been born dead. That it had simply been to soon for him to live.
To say she'd been devastated was the understatement of the century. She'd wanted to hold her infant child but the burial had already been seen to by the time she was released from the hospital and there had been a war raging. There had been no time for grief.. No time for self pity. She'd had another child to protect and a husband to support. By the time the danger to them all had ended, she'd been on auto pilot and never asked any questions.
Like she should have. LIke she evidently damned well should have.
And Tristians words were just icing on the cake.
Suddenly, she was bloody well furious. So furious that she turned on her husband with a look that was like a physical slap. Her voice was low and mean as she practically bit her next words out and there was a cold fury in her eyes like she'd never shown before. PIctures trembled wildly on their hangers while a delicate fairy toppled from the mantel and splintered upon the floor.
"I think I would know my own son and THAT is MY SON! Someone STOLE him from my womb and tore him away from a family that loved and adored him. DO NOT TELL ME THAT I DON"T KNOW WHAT I"M TALKING ABOUT. I AM NOT INSANE NOR AM I LOSING MY GRIP ON REALITY. FOR CHRISTS SAKE!! LOOK AT HIM, JAMES!! HE"S YOUR BLOODY FREAKING IMAGE!!!"
Turning her indigo eyes back in Riley's direction, she softened just a bit as she drew in a deep breath. Her eyes drank him in like a blind man recieving sight for the first time.
"I dont' care what they told you... They were lying.... If you don't believe me.... Have a blood test done... I have no doubts that they will verify what I'm telling you.... You are our flesh and blood.... You are my son... A son i have believed dead all these years....."
Then, suddenly exhausted, Lexi dropped into the chair that was directly behind her and buried her face in her hands. Jerky sobs ripped from her throat even as she tried to make sense of everything.

-------------------------------------- Keeping calm? Riley was barely holding onto the small slither of calm he had left, and should this confrontation of taken place only a few years earlier, he would have been one of two things... A jabbering wreck in the corner, screaming at this couple, at least one of whom seemed convinced of this impossibility, or he would have high tailed it out of there before this other guy had had even shown up. No. Beneath he calm exterior, Riley Dixon was freaking out. Big style, the only allusion to which was the slightly wild look in the boys eyes, the white pallor to his face. Oh, and that he still wanted to run screaming form the house if he could – was still looking for a ground floor window he might be able to jump through.
Though Riley had to admit, despite the sudden appearance of the guy having spooked him, he much preferred this guy and his sanity to his wives impossible declarations. Distracted from agreeing with her husband when the frames began to shake, Riley jumped when a frame behind him fell to the floor, followed in quick succession from something form the mantel piece. Damn it! It was Crazy shit like this that had started him looking for his parents in the first place! Crazy shit that had resulted in his sister in hospital, his family torn down the very middle, a wound he was only just finished helping to heal. He did not want anything to do with this crazy family, with the earthquake centred in her hallway, no matter what she said.
” I’m not going to get a blood test, a DNA test just because of some freakin’ birthmark on my nec,! Do you know how ridiculous this sounds? I only came to drop of your daughters damn necklace!”Despite the potential venom in his words, Riley’s tone was far from spiteful, his voice quiet, assertive, and of course as far as he was concerned the words were one hundred percent truthful. He turned instead to the man, apparently his father, searching for some way, some indication that this was all going to be over pretty soon, and he could work on shoving it into the little box of memories that he didn’t examine too closely.
”You know this sounds ridiculous right? Look. I am really sorry that i’ve upset you both, and if you let me i’ll just go and i won’t wander back this way again – but come on? There’s no way in hell this could possibly be right.”

Oh shit, there went his wife’s legendary temper. While the house shook and groaned around them, Tristian held his ground and forced himself to remain looking into his wife’s eyes. What she was saying…it couldn’t be true. Sure, the kid had his father’s chin and his wife’s eyes…but the baby had died when it was born. They’d both been devastated by the loss, but they’d put it behind them, or so he’d thought. Why did Lexi think that this poor kid was their dead son? Why would she bring up such dark memories? Such pain?
…And more importantly, when was his wife ever wrong? With a curse, the vampire turned back to the young man and forced himself to scan his face. He did look like him when he was younger, but dammit, this just wasn’t possible!
When Lexi stumbled back and fell into the chair, he was instantly by her side, kneeling down beside her. He wasn’t sure if his presence was liable to send her back into her previously irritated state, but he couldn’t stand to see her tears. All the emotion was threatening to make his other side come out with force, but he knew it wouldn’t be a good idea to let the kid see that side of him. He’d bolt…or worse yet, faint and send Lexi into another fit of dismay.
How the hell were they going to fix all of this? Lexi knew the kid was theirs, the kid in question was hell bent on refusing to prove her wrong, and he was still on the fence about what was what. A simple blood test would be so easy, but he could understand Riley’s plight; if their roles were reversed, he’d be out of there so quickly, the house would be blown away.
Yet, they didn’t really need a scientific blood test, did they?
Tristian went still and looked at his wife’s face, his expression softening as he reached up to wipe a tear off her cheek. Then, slowly standing, he turned back to Riley, all emotion fading from his face. ”You’d be surprised what’s actually possible in this world,” He said softly, head tilting slightly. ”I don’t what to think, son…but I do know that we have to get to the bottom of this. My wife needs to know, and so do you. Now…just hold still.”
The last was said on a growl. In one moment, he was standing next to his crumpled wife and the next, he was holding Riley against the wall next to the door, one arm planted against the kid’s chest, holding him still. Using his unnatural speed, Tristian snatched one of the kid’s arms and gave into the other side of himself. One more look up revealed the fangs and dark eyes, and without further ado, said fangs sank into the vein in Riley’s inner arm.
Who needed an actual blood test, when they had a vampire around? He would be able to tell if the blood running through Riley’s veins were his own.
…If he didn’t kill the kid first.
((I hope this' okay! It's...just what happened when I started writing it. XD DON'T KILL TRIS, RILEY. lol)) ___________________________________________________________________________ Word Count enough Inspiration ACDC FOR THE WIN Tags Lexi and Riley Status Complete Template By Arro @ Caution 2.0 Picture By Credit pic here!

-------------------------------------- Things were getting weirder by the second. Finally finding his feet free, Riley started backing towards the door slowly. If he was stuck in a nightmare, he needed to stop eating cheese sandwiches before he went to bed. If this was reality, then he was either delusional and currently tied up in a mental home, or this was actual reality – the strange things happening in this house were real, these people were real, the years of hiding from himself and the strange things that had happened around him, that he had written off to consequence and the such; well they were real too. Riley was beginning to like the mental home option.
Stand still? ”What?-” Riley asked, taking another step back. But his expression turned from mild confusion to a look of terror as he found himself pushed up against the wall before his foot had chance to reconnect with the marble flooring. What the fuck? This family was crazy, nuts – and if he was truly part of it, it was a part that he wanted to bury for a very long time, if not forever, before he ever acknowledged his existence. Why the hell did he ever have to meet Simi in that bar?
Stunned, and a little winded, it was all riley could do to draw breath into his lungs before his eyes took in this man’s changing features, the fangs that lowered from his gums before he was taking a bite out of his arm. Riley let out a roar at the pain and fought against the man’s arms, all traces of calm that the young man had been so desperately clinging too long gone and flown from the window at the realisation that he was getting eaten. Alive.
Or that’s what it seemed like to him anyway.
Then, there seemed to be some form of explosion, and Tristian was no longer there, but in the air as Riley fell to the floor, crumpling to his knees. It took a moment for the man to gather his wits, but as soon as he did he clamped a hand over his bleeding forearm, got to his feet, and ran for the front door.
He was not spending another minute in the crazy household. No way, now how.

Of all the things Lexi expected Tristian to do... the course he took was NOT one of them. One moment he was comforting her and she could see him gauging the facts as he knew them and the next moment he was across the room grabbing their son. THEiR SON. The phrase seemed so foreign when thinking of this boy. No, not even a boy anymore but a full grown man with a mind and will of his own. Someone else had raised her child and molded him into the person he was today. That right.. That privelige had been cruelly yanked away from her by the greed of others. It was almost more than she could bare to think on as she sat in her chair and heard the words the boy tossed out at them. And that didn't even come close to the horror that filled her as she observed the actions of her husband. With a swiftness that left no time for either she or Riley to react, Tristian flashed fangs and set his teeth deep into the young mans wrist. Stricken with disbelief, Lexi could only stare in dumbstruck amazement as the next course of events took place. Tristians dark head bent low over the outstretched arm and pure terror rolled over their son's expression. Reacting on pure instinct, he flung out a wave of power that sent the older man spinning backwards and had Lexi leaping to her feet with a scream that was a surprising mixture of anger and fear. As Tristian crashed into a table and then fell on it, crushing it beneath his weight, the beautiful blond saw her lost child beat a hasty path for the door. As he did so, she knew she was loosing her one oppurtunity to explain and hopefully convince him of the truth. With a low oath, she waved a hand and the poor man's feet were suddenly glued to the floor. Turning with eyes fairly spitting indigo fire at her husband, she resisted the urge to give him a kick for good measure. "FOR CHRISTS SAKE, TRISTIAN!! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING??" she fairly snarled at him, staring at him as if he'd grown two heads. "HAVE YOU LIVED AMONG ANIMALS SO LONG THAT YOU DON"T KNOW HOW TO BEHAVE IN POLITE SOCIETY?? WHY ON EARTH DO YOU THINK BITING OUR SON IS GOING TO IMPROVE MATTERS? IF I SCARED HIM... YOU"VE JUST GIVEN HIM REAL REASON TO BE AFRIAD OF US!!! HE PROBABLY DOESN"T EVEN KNOW THINGS LIKE YOU EXIST!!!" Agast at his actions and completely undone as to how to deal with the currently shattered events, Lexi turned her eyes back to the young man in question and found herself strangely calm. Moving forward carefully, she took his hand gently and gazed down at the rapidly healing wound. Obviously, the damage wasnt bad but she could only imagine what he now that. Sighing, she loosened the spell around him so that he could shift a bit and meet his wide, paniced eyes. ll "i'm sorry, Riley.... i know this is a shock for you but I assure you... it is to us, also. As far as I knew until fifteen minutes ago... you were dead. We've grieved and mourned your loss for years and to know that you were alive and well all those years.... I'm sure that someday you will understand our confusion and startled reaction. Contrary to what you've seen here, we lead a fairly normal life and there is nothing to truly be afraid of." she said softly, reaching up to push a lock of dark hair from his face but pulling back abruptly, not wanting t panic him anymore than he already was. "From the power you just exibited, I would say that you have much of the same skills as your brother and sister but you have yet to learn how to harness them so that they don't unintentionally harm others. it can be done and had you remained with us.. We would have taught you. i can only imagine how scared you were when they first emerged....... "Feeling tears in her eyes yet again, Lexi wiped at them haphazardly and then took a deep breath. Her sapphire eyes were sad and grief stricken as she stared at his face as if trying to memeried his every feature. "i realized that we've probably terrified you to the bottom of your soul but I can only promise you that it was the shock of it all. We are not monsters or psychos as your probalby thinking now but simple flesh and blood people. There have been so many shocks lately that I'm honestly amazed that i can even be surprised anymore. Until three months ago, I assumed your father was dead also... After ten years of being a widow... .." Shaking her head suddenly, realizing she was rattling on, she pulled back and sighed. "Damn it all to hell... this is a messed up situation...... "

Okay, so when he’d come up with that cockamamie plan to bite his son and determine his blood type, he certainly hadn’t been expecting all of this. Sure, he would have thought that the boy would fight back and Lexi would react with shock…but seriously now, did she really think that he would harm someone that could be their son so unconsciously? Did she think that he was that much a monster, to attack the kid for no reason at all?
These were the thoughts that ran through his mind as he found himself flying through the air. With a grunt, he fell back against the table and gasped when his body and head hit the wall behind it. Everything throbbed; pain exploding throughout his body…but he was only half aware of it. The taste of blood was in his mouth and he had to close his eyes to savor it; to savor the sweet taste and groaned when the ceaseless gnawing in his belly seemed to ease, if only ever so slightly.
He was unaware of what was happening around him for a minute, too involved in basking in the glow of finally being able to feed. But the euphoria quickly faded when his body realized that there was no more to be ingested, and the hunger rose up like an animal in his mind. His entire body tensed; clenching in on itself as he fought the urge to launch himself back at the boy, now frozen like perfect prey across the room.
Slowly, carefully, he pushed himself to his feet and tried to tear his eyes off of the still bleeding wound on Riley’s arm. So beautiful, that red liquid…God, he wanted another taste!
But even the monster inside knew that he could harm what was his. Riley Dixon…was his son. Blood didn’t lie.
”He’s our son,” He said quietly, cutting into his wife’s little speech. The kid looked like he was about to faint, throw up or both…but he was too dazed to care. God, Riley was going to need psychiatric treatment for a very long time, but in all honesty, the only thing he could think of was how much he wanted to pull him into his arms and give him the embrace his lost baby deserved.
Finally, tearing his eyes from the boy’s bleeding wrist, he looked over at his wife, a mixture of hunger and shock on his face. ”I had to test it…for you, and for him. I’m sorry that I hurt you, Riley, and that all of this is coming as a shock…but you’re our son. Blood…blood doesn’t lie.”
Dazedly, he wiped at his mouth and recoiled when he saw the red that stained his wrist. Gritting his teeth, he took a step back and away from his son, knowing that his presence was certainly not helping things. ”I know that deep down, there’s a connection with your mother that you can’t deny. What you just did…it was passed down from her, to you. Don’t be afraid and don’t fight it. We just want you to know the truth.” ___________________________________________________________________________ Word Count enough Inspiration ACDC FOR THE WIN Tags Lexi and Riley Status Complete Template By Arro @ Caution 2.0 Picture By Credit pic here!

-------------------------------------- Beating a hasty retreat to the door, to the freedom that lay beyond the stained wood with dreams of grandeur, Riley let out a somewhat disgruntled cry when he found his feet stuck to the marble. Again. Seriously? Was he never going to escaped the hell of this madhouse and the monsters that dwelled within its walls? For not the first time since he had walked through that door Riley found himself wishing that he had simply put the necklace through the door and beat a hasty retreat to the safety of his truck, and driven quite quickly away from the building that had filled him with unease at first glimpse.
He was going to start listening to his gut, he decided. No more of this going against it – he’d seen enough horror films to have realised that this was a bad idea.
Clutching at his wrist, Riley expected the wound, intermingled with the scars of his teenage years, to be a lot worse than what is was in actuality. The blood was already flowing less quickly as the wound began to heal, though he somewhat surprised when the previously screaming women took his hand in her own. What... did she want a taste too? Finding he could move, he jerked his head back slightly when she reached towards his face – it was obvious that these actions were born of tenderness rather than malice, but he was not used to such things coming from complete strangers, especially ones that seemed intent on trying to melt his brains with shows of ... of.. what? Was it truly magic that stuck his feet to the floor, that had sent his assailant flying across the room? Once he might have believed it and willingly so – but Riley was bred of habit and control, and he did not enjoy the chaos he was falling into headfirst. It made the man long for release in blade, something he alone could control and command, an unscratchable itch in the back of his head he had not felt for nearly eight years.
Feeling a lot like a child once more, Riley could think of no words that would do justice in the summation of the confusion he was feeling. If what she was saying was true, Riley’s father was a monster, his mother was what? Hellspawn? A Witch? – and he shared blood with them both. What did that make him? The monster he had once feared he was? Riley felt faint and sick, and desperately needed to sit down, but there was little chance of him giving into either whilst he was still confronted with these two.... people.
Surprisingly, he heard laughter, and it took a second for him to realise that this warped sound was coming from him, though the noise was far from that associated with jovial moments. ”Messed up? You think? If i’m going to believe you, i’m supposed to accept that i’m related to what? A witch? A monster?”He looked between them both, perhaps a little more cutting with his words than he intended to be – but then, this was the side Riley worked so hard to hide... a side nurtured in his two shorts years living with demons... a brief period perhaps, but it had certainly impacted on his life. ”This... this whole situation is insane and you both need locking up.” he glanced down at his wrists. ”And they should probably throw me in there whilst they are at it.”

Each word the boy... Her son.. spoke was like a dagger to Lexi's heart. Logically, she knew that he was reacting from the scare and drama they were inacting here in this moment but it still hurt. If he thought he was shocked, he should try being in her shoes. However, she also understood that there was no way they could make him believe them. And at this point, any effort on their part to convince him would only fall on deaf ears and probably backfire in their faces. So she did the only thing she could think to do. She let him go. "Riley, we are not crazy and we truly mean you no harm. You have nothing to fear from us or yourself. The power you have inside you is not a curse and can be controled. You can use the power for good if you give someone a chance to teach you. If you don't, its going to build and build until you explode and do damage to someone that you don't mean to... Please believe me on that at least. If you don't want to learn from us, we can point you to the right people at least. You ARE our son and whatever else you may believe.... Please believe we want only your safety and happiness."Wiping at the tears that were now streaming down her face, Lexi pushed to her feet and stepped away from him. Her expression was grief stricken as she wave a hand and the power holding him in place fell away. "If nothing else, look at Simi.... Surely you didn't feel anything evil coming from her... She is your sister and someone who would love to help you with you powers. I'm releasing you to go but know our door is always open if you ever decide you want answers to the questions in your mind...."Then, turning away, she exited the room without looking at her husband and ran for the bedroom where she could lick her wounds. Wounds that seemed to have been brutally ripped open once more as she mourned again for the child she felt as if she'd lost for the second time.
