The Academy it was a place Brandon hated. He didn’t want to be a hunter. He didn’t think he was cut out to fill those shoes… As he sees it, the world is doomed anyways so why bother. Was it going to make a difference really? He didn’t think so. Every night after lights out, he would sneak out of the academy to go have some real fun. He could care less what his parents thought they were never around…
He wanted to drop out and get far far far away from the place… It wasn’t a prison, but he hated the fact his parents are off traveling the world hunting things and leaving him and his ‘ other siblings’ in this place… why should they have to stay in a place like this shouldn’t they be with their family?
Brandon was sick of his parent’s twisted lies of ‘we are all family here’. Why should he consider all the other people at the place family? For all he knew they could be the enemy so why trust them? He did not trust to easily. He snuck out of the place and one of these days he wasn’t going to come back, he had to make a plan of where to go….
It wasn’t solidly formed in his head just yet, but with the right timing he may not be there when his ‘parents’ get back from what ever hunt they are on. Brandon couldn’t recall really when the last time he seen his parents was. Did they even remember they had kids? Are they dead? He didn’t know. Part of him didn’t care either.
He headed into town, and ended up sitting on a bench facing the beach water watching the moon and stars twinkle above it. He had met a few people here usually, but right now it was silent and still it was peaceful. He loved that… no drama, no screaming, no training just silence.
He pulled a cigarette out of his leather jacket, and lit it up taking a drag and blowing out the smoke watching it fade into the darkness of the night…. He wanted to do something fun, but didn’t know what… so there he sat waiting for his friends or someone else to come along. He knew he had to be careful.

[atrb=width,500,table][atrb=border,5,true][bg=ffffff]If you don't know where you are going,
------------any road will get you there.
They called it the academy for hunters and someone specials, someone like himself apparently, those who has extra abilities, those abnormal people with psychic gifts, now Leon knows he sounds like a freak.
Why can i rewind time and go back to the time before all these nonsense started? hands in pocket, Leon kicked a small stone on the ground as he walks forward, his full lips pouting in a kissable shape, Why of everything i can be in the world i turned out to be a freak? A almost silent sigh escaped his lips in a huff, he hates to think it this way, but then again, he doesn't understand why he of all people would get to have this power which is abnormal to human.
There was just a few years ago that Leon escaped this car crash that was supposed to kill him. Instead he gets to live, only to find out his father can lift things into the air without touching them like a magician and he himself can create some sort of force field to protect himself from any physical attacks.
Things like this seems to be easy to do, but until he really trying to learn controlling his skills he figured that it is not as simple as everyone thoughts. The super big shield you see those supernatural heroes do in the movies? Forget anything looking that cool, it is what special effects are for.
Leon continued forwards without seeing where he is going, he soon approached a enchanting scene which located not far from the academy. The beauty of nature took his breath away and Leon's legs automatically takes him forward to the little recreation side, the dull colored pebble forgotten among the green grassy ground.
The young man doesn't know should he be out this late of the night, but as a new kid on the block he couldn't care much. Rules are made to be broken, he thought, a smirked played on his pretty face, his dimples deep on his cheeks.
As he walked closer to the edge, Leon saw another male figure sitting there, the smell of cigarettes reached his nostrils. The dirty-blonde never try smoking before, he doesn't really know about how it taste or feel, generally he doesn't like the scent much, but he is not going to tell others off for something they like to do.
"Hey," Leon called out his greeting as he gets closer to the other guy sitting by the large pool of water. He looked at the clear water reflecting the white moonlight in the sky. The good-looking young man waited for the other to reply his greeting, wondering does he goes to the academy like he is.

Taking in natures beauty it sometimes amazed Brandon that things such as this still exist with all the things they had been trained at the academy to take out… he knew the world was going to go to shit so he best enjoy the beaches and other natural beauties before things really go down the crap shoot and that was what he was doing enjoying nature while he still can. He didn’t mind the silence at all. It was peaceful… way peaceful compared to always being told what to do by some teacher or his parents… he knew if his parents knew he was smoking they’d have a right go at him about it, and how it would slow him down, but he could careless… really he likes enjoying living while he can..
He was thinking perhaps he’d find some sort of party or something later… it made him wonder if they even checked to see if he was in his room yet.. It was a male who had pulled him out of his thoughts… Brandon had been sat there subconsciously smoking his cigarette lost in the beauty of things and his own thoughts.. “ Hey….” Brandon had replied looking the lad over and didn’t think he had seen this dude around here before, “ New around here? I don’t believe I have seen you about before.” Brandon is usually good at remembering faces, but not names.. He has ran into several people here late night at the beach side taking in the sparkling of the stares so it didn’t make him feel completely lame or anything.

[atrb=width,500,table][atrb=border,5,true][bg=ffffff]If you don't know where you are going,
------------any road will get you there.
The night is quiet except for the chatty crickets singing their unique song to one another. It appeared amusing to Leon, on how every living creatures have their own languages and have their own way of surviving in this world. He couldn't help envy the ease of living as a cricket, At least, they don't need to worry about the big bad world or being a freak, the young man thought as he squatted down near the other man sitting by the water, they have no peer pressure and doesn't have to worry about being accepted in the society. Just sing some songs in the middle of the night, hunt for food to survive, and live until their lives end. the smirk on his face was tinted bitter and full of self-amuse at himself dreaming of being the insects he always hates.
The simplicity of nature struck Leon as beautiful, finally seeing it like he never see before. In a way, he has not been around nature much, growing up in a small town, Leon usually more keen on spending time flirting with girls than going hiking. Pretty girls and boys generally like spending their time in a mall, or high class restaurant and fancy hotel rooms, walking in the wilderness for hours is never everyone's general idea of a date. If it is not for him joining the academy, Leon supposed he would never get to see all these.
Leon smirked upon hearing the other male's question, figures that the other boy must be around for a while to recognized him as a newbie, "Yeah, brand new and fresh from the oven," he nodded, used his right hand to support himself as he shifted into a sitting position on the grasses-covered ground. He sat with cross legs, the general pose everyone take to get comfortable if they are to sit at a same spot for a length of time. "The name is Leon, Leon Hamilton," the young man wiped his right hand on his pants to get rid of the moisture and dirt stuck on it the moment he touched the ground, and then offer it to his company as a polite gesture, "Nice to meet you," he added, though he was still not sure how the event will play out for the night.
The night chilly wind picked up from across the lake blowing on Leon's face was pleasant, they feathered his skin in a soft, cradling ways that Leon likes, it is for this feeling of having wind in his hair that he insisted on getting a convertible on his 16th birthday. That black Honda was in the end totaled and he was suck with his father old paints fading BMW. The things he can be glad of for the whole thing is that the car is black in color and it runs good.
Guess I shouldn't complaint so much, Leon sighed, thinking of the recent event that pushed him to join the academy in the first place. He remembered that his parents had asked him to come to the Hunter Academy a few years back in order to learn mastering his skills, but somewhat trying to deny his heritage and wanting to live his life playing, Leon didn't give it a damn, until his dad went missing, captured by some big bad for his skills. Leon's father is a gifted people like himself, it seems that the ability is passed on by heritage. Though the father and son should share the same set of skills, being the useless Leon he only learned to create this physical force field and nothing more. Unlike his missing dad who able to move things by the manipulation of air.
At the plain thought of trying, Leon picked up a random pebbles laying on the ground and put it on his open palm. He willed it to lift up in the air like how his father showed him before, his brows pulled together as he concentrated, but seconds ticked pass without any visible results. Out of frustration, Leon send the rock skipping across the lake, it went on 5 bounces until the momentum was weak enough to be altered by the gravity force.
"Well, what brings you to the Academy? You're a trainee right?" he asked, pretending nothing has happened just now, "Or am i looking at a young trainer without knowing and respect?" the boy joked lamely and chuckled on his own, he pulled his legs up and wrapped his arms around them, rocking himself back and forth on the spot, he focused on his only company in front of him, "You're here for long already?" his questions went on, trying to learn about the other guy who might be his friend or foe.

Brandon had known he didn’t see this man around before and asked if he had been new around here, it wasn’t as if he thought the man really would answer him truthfully or anything who liked to be the newbie really? So Brandon had been shocked when the man said he was indeed new around here, and introduced himself as a Leon, Hamilton… “Pleasure to meet you too, Leon. I am Brandon…” had said shaking the dudes hand with the hand that didn’t have his cigarette in it. It wasn’t everyday that Brandon met people who said they were fresh out of the oven new here… At least he was honest and that was good. Not too many people were honest like the fella beside him is… “Brandon Novak.” He had continued telling the dude his whole name, before taking a few more drags from his cig flicking it to the ground and stepping on it.
The wind was picking up a little more, but Brandon didn’t mind at all. It was refreshing compared to the air inside the academy at times… It smelt of sweat when people were training heavily and it was something that made Brandon gag at times. Brandon watched the dude throw stones into the lake and watched them skip at least five bounces before they fell flat into the lake… “Very impressive. “ He commented… Some people had natural talent to skip rocks and he was unaware of the guy besides him’s talents or reasons he was at the academy.
Brandon almost choked in shock that the guy asked if he was a trainee at the academy or was he lacking the respect of knowing that he was a trainer… He chuckled softly and shook his head… “No I am not a trainer… I’d be a shit trainer if I ever were one.” He had said sort of dissing his skills. It wasn’t as if he was there willingly it was where his parents dropped him off… “ My parents are what brought me and my siblings here they dropped us off for a place to stay when they are off living their lives and what not… and we are stuck here..” hatred for his parents clearly evident in his voice.. He hated them for leaving them here.. It wasn’t where he wanted to be. He couldn’t speak for his other siblings, but he’d rather them all be a family and together instead of here only seeing his parents when they blow into town.
Leon has asked if he had been there long… “ Yeah you can say that… “ Brandon truthfully couldn’t answer how long he has really been there it seemed like forever to him . He wanted out of this place and one day he’d get out of here he would. He talks about leaving all the time, but his siblings always convince him to stay.. “ It seems like I have been here forever . You should escape while you still can.” Brandon teased… who knows maybe this place is Leon’s cup of tea, but it surely wasn’t his. “ I am sure you will make loads of new friends here fast.” It was the truth.. There were loads of kids their own age stuck in the same situation because this is a safe haven and their parents are hunters." What bring's you here? Did your parents force you to stay here too while they hunt?he was curious to see if they were on the same boat or was he here by choice?

Honesty is not a word in Leon's book for living, he had told his share of lies, usually to cover up tracks for whatever he done wrong. No, he never do any illegal business, probably broken a few school rules like sneak off to some secluded area and make out with his latest girlfriend or tells girls stories bigger then it seems just to impress them. Oh, and the often one probably is lying to his parents that he was hanging out at some guys house every time he goes for a date just to avoid unnecessary questions being ask and untruth assumptions being made.
It doesn't impress him much that his parents thinks every single of his next girlfriend is his future-wife-to-be. For God's sake, don't I get a hundred weddings if i am marrying every girls i dated or slept with? the 19-year-old is not readied to settle down, he thinks he can still have a little more fun and adventures in his life, thank you very much.
But that doesn't means his parents who married their first love know what its like.
Leon clasped hand with the other guy, holding the hand firm for brief seconds before letting go. "Brandon," the male repeated after him with a nod, meaning he acknowledged the name. He watched the other male threw the cigarettes on the grassy ground and stepped it out, wondering once again what it taste like to smoke. He bit off the question that is threatening to roll off his tongue, not sure he wants the other male to see him as a noob.
"Thanks," Leon replied with a small smirk towards the guy, then continued on, "Well, a guy gotta have a skill or two up his sleeves to impressing girls," skip the details that i learned this because Kate wanted to learn it, his considerably first real love who was killed in the car crash where he discovered his gift was full of funny ideas that keep him entertained and the relationship fresh, probably why he was still with her after so many months.
It seems like i am good at making myself appearing as a fool in front of others, he released a string of chuckles at the shocked expression Brandon gave him, "Just kidding," he gripped his fists and held them close to himself, resisting the urge to give the guy a playful punch on his the shoulder as he always do to his friends. He wondered if the other guy a person who have special ability like he does, or that he is one of those normal human who joined the academy because of certain reasons, but Leon doesn't doubt that Brandon has skills. Someone who stayed in the academy for a period of time would've learned something.
"Now, I am pretty sure you're better than me," he said humbly, not that he has any skill to show off. Leon is a weak fighter and the only trick he has is his not-so-functional force field. "I am glad however that i am not in trouble for being disrespectful to a trainer. Hell knows what they would do to me if i am," he rolled his eyes to cover up the fear he felt. No way he is showing his weakness in front of another male human being.
The good looking young man nodded patiently as his company for the night told him the reason for him to be in this academy not quite known to the normal world. So his parents sent him here, why am i not surprise? Leon thought, I guess that he either has some sort of special skills or that his parents are hunters then, the male made assumptions based on the facts he learned. "Well, at least you have siblings here with you," he commented instead, "You're not alone." Not like me, Leon added silently, feeling the world of responsibilities on his shoulders.
Brandon's simple comment hooked up his curiosity made Leon tilted his head. It sounded to him that Brandon wanted to be here none more than he does. The young man craves to know more, but he was not sure how to ask. Not everyone likes to talk about the tragedies happened in their lives, and Leon hates to force people to do things they are unwilling to. Instead, Leon pouted his full lips as he said, "Nah, I am here to stay," the smile on his face is bitter. Even though he is not very keen to practice hunting and to master his skills, Leon knew that he needed to in order to bring his father back home. It is only up to him now, or his dad would be pretty much damned. Looking up at the possibly newfound friend, Leon smiled at him sincerely, he hopes what Brandon said would come true, "I hope so. Having friends here might be good, i guess." If they are really someone I can trust, he added silently. He was not sure what kind of masks the bad guys would wear.
The young man sighed upon being asked the reason he was here, he took his time to consider his answers, and to compose his story, staring at the lake glittering under the moonlight like he was distracted by it. Seconds ticked by, Leon heaved another sigh, then finally turned back to Brandon and said, "Well, I sent myself here, but not by choice. This is the only road I am able to take. I know what others said there is always a choice in life, but when your choices are either to fight or leave your love one to die, I have to say that the choices are pretty much doomed either way." Finding his own use of words are sounding too grown up even from himself, Leon chuckled, shaking his dirty-blonde head, "Guessed all the responsibilities have an effect on me too," though he is not sure he would ever give up on having fun, life is too dull without some entertainments other than work, he couldn't doubt that he is thinking more now compared to a few months ago.
"Well, are your parents hunters too? I learn from a few others that hunting is supposed to be inherited from family," Leon was curious how many of these human are willing to plunge into troubles that should not be involve with their lives. In a way, he was also angry at the ease everyone thrown their lives away just to be someone different than them. Leon however, craves for normalcy more than anything else in the world but he couldn't seems to be able to hold on it. He stared at the guy sitting next to him on the green grass, thinking at least someone doesn't like it here as much as he is.

It had been nice to meet a newbie going to the academy, but it wasn’t as if meeting this guy would keep him from one day fleeing this place he thinks is a prison one day he’d be free of the place it was only a matter of time, but having this guy around could make things much more interesting and he was curious about his story and what landed Leon at the academy… his skipping rocks trick really was impressive…
“You’re welcome. Yeah, I suppose you do.” He replied with a shrug. It wasn’t really Brandon’s thing to try to impress the ladies, but hey this dude sure did have some talent that would impress them he was sure of this. “If that fail’s flattering them will get you places too.” It is usually what Brandon did. Flatter them until they turned shades of pink, but still he hadn’t found the perfect girl for him just yet so flirting and flattering got him what he needed for now perhaps one day maybe he’d find the girl worth fighting for.
Brandon snorted again when Leon said he was sure that Brandon was better then him. “I don’t know about that….” It wasn’t as if Brandon paid attention to his lessons or anything he couldn’t be arsed with most of the stuff they tried to teach him… It was why he always ended up in the detention center. He was a rebellious ass when it came to training. Yes, sure, he knew how the things worked and in a pinch, he was resourceful, but he thought his world was going to shit so why bother with it all? He didn’t get it.
Leon had been glad he wasn’t disrespectful to a trainer and didn’t want to know what they’d do to him. “It all depends on which trainer you would have crossed… Most of them are older so you don’t have to worry about being disrespectful to people like our own age… those who teach have been hunting and all that jazz for ages.” Brandon tried to explain to give the guy a heads up in a way. It was the least he could do.
Leon was right her wasn’t alone he had family here, but they weren’t his own flesh and blood really he thought of them as siblings because they were raised together, but still his flesh and blood abandoned them here. “Yeah, but they are not flesh and blood siblings just people my parents rescued for all I know my parents could have some secret life and another family out there.” He said with a shake of the head and small sigh escaped his lips as he sat back more to look at the stars.
Brandon told him to run away while he still could… Brandon himself was trying to get himself tossed out by always sneaking out and purposely being caught…so Leon def would not want to follow his example if he was here to stay… “Most of the students are very nice so making friends is easy there.” it was one thing the academy had going for it in Brandon’s books… He didn’t have a shortage of friends, and the girls that filter in the academy were surely nice to look at that he had seen thus far… but should he tell Leon that?
Brandon sat back and eyed the guy listening to his reasons on why he was there and it did sort of sound like the guy was in a hard place… Stay and fight or leave the one you love to die… “Yeah that seems like a hard place to be at and it does seemed doomed either way, but the way I see things we are all doomed no matter what we do… So some day’s I don’t know why we try so hard.” perhaps Brandon seen things that way because he really doesn’t love….not like Leon must for him to end up here to learn how to fight…and had to be here . He did hope that everything worked out for Leon. He didn’t like people to fall even thought he himself feels like any way you go you are doomed so best live life to the fullest and have fun while you still can.. He is waiting for these people who train so hard to prove him wrong that the earth isn’t doomed and they all have a fighting chance.
Brandon was asked if his parents were hunters too and how he had learned that it is inherited from the family… “Yes they are and that is why they are never around. I really can’t remember when the last time I seen them was.” It was sad that he couldn’t remember that. He had been here since he was twelve years old and is eighteen now. “Some people are cut out to follow in their parents traditions. I however don’t want to ride on their boat.” He stated, picking at the grass and flicking it away… Watching the little strands blow in the wind was a bit entertaining, but it wasn’t as fun as party crashing or ending up drinking and dancing in the clubs… Or getting stoned… “I take it your parents must have been hunters too then…” Brandon looked at him curiously…

Leon had never been feeling so relax for a long time. As he sat there looking at the still water and the dark sky dotted with stars blinking down at them, feeling the light wind combing his soft hair, a sense of security enveloped the young man made him sigh in appreciation. He knew that this is a false sense of tranquility, ever since he swore to himself that he will rescue his dad from the hands of the devil, Leon knew he bid his goodbye to the life he once know. But it doesn't stop the man from taking the chance to just relax talking to another human.
Chuckles escape his full lips when he heard Brandon's comment on his rock skipping skill. "Maybe..." he said with an amused tone, "It is nothing big actually, if you put some hard work on learning the angle you to send the stones flying, you will get it skipping on the water too," a small smile played on his lips as he thought of the time he spent teaching his girlfriend the trick, and how happy was she to finally got it down, even if the stones she throw never get further than 3 skip at first. "I learned that for my girlfriend," Leon admitted softly, allowing the words float away with the wind, even though he was not sure why he said it, it was too late to recall the words once they are out.
"Well, at least you're here longer than me," Leon said with a bitter smile, keeping his tone nonchalant. This guy was not sure should he regret the time he spent not knowing anything about this other world that's happening beside him all the time. But to say the truth, who wants to accept the destiny that he is a freak with some supernatural power?
Listening to the other guy's comment, Leon nodded. He supposed it make sense that the trainers here are all older than him. I don't quite remember seeing trainers at our age too, he added silently, thinking of the his trip around the academy today. "Thanks for the tips bro," he winked, "I will keep that in mind," the smile he gave to this man was bright and sincere.
Being Leon, mostly he group people into two groups, friendly and unfriendly. Towards someone friendly towards him, Leon will give the same treatment back to them. Not that he will give them undying trust once they did something good to him, but Leon will judge according to what he observed. Brandon here who is sitting beside him seems to be a friendly guy, anyway, he is friendly enough not screaming at Leon for being a noob.
Adoptive family? Being born an raised as an only child by his parents, Leon doesn't know the feeling of being someone without a real family he could trust. The young man couldn't help pitying Brandon for his background. "It seems like your parents are good guys though," he commented, choosing a lighter way to carry on their conversation.
To tell the truth, Leon couldn't be more glad that he decided to sit down and started talking with this guy who he should call as his senior even they seems about the same age. He was glad that he isn't the only one who come to the academy unwillingly, though it should be a crime to take pleasure on other's pain. "Thanks, and you seems like the kind of person that will have a lot of friends here." He was just saying what he could feel, someone as friendly as Brandon should have his share of friends looking after him.
In silence, Leon processed Brandon's view on the world. "Truth to be told, I think you're pretty much correct. With everyone of us trying to destroy the Earth, the world is pretty much incurable now," Leon mumbled his thoughts out, "I wish... I have the freedom to choose like you do, to not care and just have as much fun before the world ends," in a louder tone, he said, allowing a little sourness slipped into his voice. Only God know how unwilling he is on jumping into this unknown water. Leon knew himself is no superheroes, he cannot help with any of the world saving crap. His only goal now is to get his father out from whatever shit he is in, and then continue with his normal life. "But I promised my mom and myself that I will rescue him though. My dad," he added before Brandon could ask, "He went missing," he never elaborate further because he wasn't sure he wants to lurch into full details of his own boring stories.
Leon wondered what it is like to grown up in a family who hunts for evil and demons all their lives, he supposed it might change quite some of his view on coming to the academy. "No, my parents are not hunters, not that I know of anyway," the blonde guy answered truthfully. He went silent afterwards, wondered should he further explain, it will bring up his abnormality and he doesn't want someone thinks that he is a freak. His own opinion on himself is torturous enough. But then again, Leon wanted to release the pressure he felt ever since he found out that he has these supernatural powers he inherited from his family...
10 seconds... 20 seconds...30 seconds... time ticked passed without mercy, and Leon was undecided on whether to tell the truth. Finally, with an intake of deep breath, he tested Brandon, "Have you met someone with special ability?" his question sounded random and revealing almost nothing, but Leon's heart sped up as if he just finish running a thousand miles. He watched Brandon's reaction out of the corner of his eyes, waiting for an answer.

It was nice having someone to actually talk to on such a peaceful night. Brandon usually was hitting the clubs and bars with friends he made in the town by now sneaking off away from the academy trying so very hard to get booted out, but it hasn’t happened yet maybe one day….but with Leon being there too and not on the happy to be there, boat could make for some interesting fun…. Brandon listened to Leon explain how skipping of the rocks wasn’t really, too hard that if you practice and with hard work, you could learn to skip on the water, and he had learned if from his girlfriend… That made his brows arch a little thinking ‘ ahhh so he has a girlfriend. Wonder what she thinks of him being here… Is she here too?’, but Brandon would not ask those questions. “That is good you leaned that from her and it is an impressive thing to do.” he had stated. Brandon always was amazed with the magic’s of the world, but also wondered where such gifts derived from? Was it heaven or hell?
It was true he was there longer then Leon has been and he didn’t know how long he would indeed be there…. He had to escape sometime. He just had too, but he hasn’t made a runner yet just tries to stay out and get expelled so that maybe his parents would be called, but hey he isn’t the only one that acts up. Some hate being there it isn’t as if they want to follow in their parents footsteps or be raised in this life…. They just didn’t have a choice, which sometimes seems very unfair! He nodded at Leon’s words and looked at the water and the stars dancing in its liquidy pools in the sky above. Brandon had given him some tips about the trainers none of them thus far have been their age most were older semi retired types, but with this line of work could you ever really retire?
Leon had told Brandon it seemed like his parents were good people thought…. “Yeah, in a way they are just not in the right ways…when it comes to family.” he had said with a slight nod and sigh…. It made him wonder if his parents loved the job more then them… he did hear them say they are not parent material, but that was a secret he’d bring to the grave he wasn’t going to tell the others what he had heard! It would just upset them and he’d hate to see his sisters adoptive or not cry…. He wouldn’t want to inflict that sort of pain on them because they do love their parents and think what they are doing is good so who is he to burst their bubbles. So he just rolled with things and seemed to take things one day at a time… He often wondered what would happen to them if their parents ended up dead from a hunt… sure some of them like him and few others are in their late teens and are basically adults, but what would happen he didn’t know.
It was nice having an actual conversation with someone new… Brandon was mellow when it came to meeting people and was a bit of a social butterfly and didn’t give a crap what anyone thought of him really so what if he talks to the new dude if anyone had issues with it they could stick it where the sun don’t shine…. The professors though might have had issues with him telling the dude to run away while he still could…. He listened to the words about friends sprawl off Leon lips and dance in the night’s sky… “Yeah I get along with most people and do have some friends there…. Most people are nice… we have our share of snotty girls and jocks who think they are oh so tough and can take on anyone… It is almost like being at a normal school so I hear… You will fit in in no time.” he tried to assure the blonde haired dude… That is the thing about the academy always new people coming and going so it’s easy to make friends and roll with the punches since everyone is in a similar situation.
Brandon had made his views on the world known… it wasn’t as if it were a big secret he was sure most who went to the academy knew his views on the world and with all the evil and shit out there who’s to say they wouldn’t win one day… so why not have as much fun as you can before you end up in a pine box… what he didn’t figure was perhaps hunting these things is peoples fun and adrenaline rush in life… “Who says you can’t share my view and have fun and not give a crap?” he had been curious now… Then it had been explained that he promised his mother that he’d find his father and that he went missing… “I am sorry he went missing do you know what took him or how he vanished.” it made Brandon wonder if the man was already dead if he went missing in a supernatural way the man could be dead or turned into something they are trained to fight and stuff.
He was told that Leon’s parents weren’t hunters like his own, which made it all the more curious to Brandon why Leon’s father would have gone missing…. However, if the fella beside him didn’t want to say he didn’t have to Brandon has asked what happened, but he wasn’t going to push him into saying in case it is a painful event go over. Some people have horror stories that they don’t want to relive and that could be one of them for Leon. It was silent for a good couple of seconds between them the soft sweet wind could be heard whistling threw trees branches… he closed his eyes and took in a nice deep breathe before Leon had spoken up again and he turned to look at him… “Yeah you could say I have,” He had told the young man… there were several people that got to the academy that had unique gifts… “There are several people that go to the academy that have special gifts and all, it is double sided as a safe haven for people with gifts that are in danger and the academy is a place of protection sort of like a haven of sorts… I have met a few psychics and stuff that have actual abilities not the fake stuff… and some others… have you?” he told the guy and asked if he had ever met anyone with gifts curious as to why the man would ask…
Brandon pulled out his pack of cigs again and pulled on out sticking it in his mouth and lit it up, offering one to Leon trying not to be rude or anything not knowing if he smoked or not. If he didn’t want one that was fine by Brandon. It was a bad habit one he shouldn’t have but it is what it is, and he sort of got addicted.

It was a long time since Leon actually has a peaceful night sitting around, probably the first since many years ago that he is sitting at an empty field having a conversation with someone. Leon leaned back, feeling at ease, putting both his hands on the grassy ground and looked up at the dark sky dotted with stars and lighted up by the pale silver moon. Brandon has misunderstood his meaning along the line "I learned that for my girlfriend," however Leon didn't have the heart to correct the guy, nor wanting to make himself looks better than he is. Kate deserve some credit too, even though a false one, an amused smile on his face showing how much he cares for her. He won't call it true love, he doesn't really believe in such things, but it was probably the purest that he had ever felt.
Listening Brandon talking about his family, Leon nodded. "I guess i can understand what you meant." Parents giving more time to work than their home, though Leon was the lucky one having his parents are a little too nosy when it comes to his life, the guy certainly met friends who has the same problem and saw most of them turned rebellious and bitter for the simple fact of not getting enough parental love. At least I am not a bitter and sour jerk like most of them are, thinking of which, Leon felt grateful that his parents have always been around, though they can be a little not so... protective.
Leon released a true smile that shown off his deep dimples at Brandon's words about the Academy, "Thanks dude, I hope that's going to be a real case," high school? Leon survived it and brought an A game home, if the Academy is anything like it is, things are surely are looking up. "And you're a friendly guy, the school would be a better place with more of you here." It is true. Most people Leon met in life doesn't even bother to talk to newbie, himself included, once upon the time when everything was still under his fine control, before everything goes downhill leaving him the newbie at an unknown world. Being dump from your high horse does rub you off your egoistic.
Things being peaceful and quiet seems like a false calm before storm, but no matter how much is it a false reality, Leon like most other human in the world, clings onto it like it is the last peace he has before world ends. He wouldn't know how his fate after this will be, when he plunge into the supernatural world, they seems unpredictable and scary. So now, any form of normalcy life offered are welcome. Staring at his opponent, Leon tried to understand the life that Brandon has been through, probably tougher than his own, and that gives him more of a chance to survive if anything happens. Until now, Leon is still trying to wrap his thought about himself having this special ability to fight the world's evil, if only he is not killed in the process first.
To Leon, Brandon at least is lucky to live his life knowing what his parents are, while doubting himself will ever have any knowledge of this world if he never escape that accident with his ability. Still, there is no prove that he really has the ability, seeing how it is passive and won't even activate properly. Maybe it is just luck, maybe it was luck that saving him every time, and he would know that one day, the academy will sure have a way to test out the theory...
And then what? Leon had the urge to drown himself in the lake glimmering under the starlight for his own wish to be normal. Him having no ability doesn't change the situation a bit, his father is still being held captive and Leon would still need to learn from the Academy for the rescue mission, without his gift only going to make everything more complicated. Life can give me more of a choice, I did nothing wrong to be ripped off my freedom. Leon too, like Brandon wanted to escape, only he cannot afford to. To say that, is easy, the corner of Leon's lips pulled into a bitter smile. "I am not giving up on him," the blonde haired added, determination filled his voice. He made that promise to bring his family back together, and he will do that. Feeling numbed in his pose, he shifted into a more comfortable position before answering Brandon's question, "I have no idea yet, just some clues that I am not good at identifying," he said with a deep sigh, "My mom... Is a normal human. She doesn't know much. I know my dad seldom uses his ability, unless he really needs it to help others. My old folks are just craving for peaceful days for the rest of their timed future." Indeed, his parents do. Leon wasn't sure did they ever do hunting in their younger days, they never talk about it much, and Leon was never interest in their stories to ask more. He realized that he probably should. "However, mom did say that... they might need him... for something, but I am not sure..." I should ask more, I need more information to find him, Leon stared down his own hands as if the answer will appear to him.
A guy does need someone to share his secret with. Leon knew that it might be a suicidal choice to say these things out loud, his father has given him fair warning when they sat and "talk" for the first time after the accident. But Leon doesn't know how much he could hold in anymore without going insane. Looking at his company for tonight, even though the brunette is someone just more than a stranger to him, no doubt he is someone who has seen more than Leon ever sees in his life of fun and games. His answers to Leon's seemingly innocent question told him that much he needed to know.
Procrastinating, Leon took up the guy's offer of a cigarette, and took one. "Thanks," he stared at it for a moment, playing in his hands, half-heartedly thinking along the line "something so small could cause so much destruction". But still, knowing the danger wrapped in the tiny body, Leon was tempted to try, "Can I, borrow your fire?" he asked nicely.
He knew he will tell Brandon the truth before the answer left his mouth in a slow pace, "I guess...I do. Well, my father does, and he thinks I have what he has." he added the last part quickly, certainly doesn't want to make himself sounds more important than he is. "My dad... his gift is to manipulate the air itself, and we suspected that he was captured because of his ability. But I am... however, I am having nothing." The last part of his sentence sounded like a regret, regret for himself to never learn how to control his gift.
"Now I seems like a freak, don't I?" Leon looked up and asked with a bitter smile, half-jokingly. He cares about how other sees him as, and hopefully not a freak, that's why he never tell anyone of his abnormality, until today. And the young man hope that it will not backfire on his face.
