This feeling was oh so new to Travis, he has been seeing his old friend now for a few weeks and she had been threw and ordeal with her ex and him being a vampire and they were taking things slow. She knew about the vampires out their in the world, but he wondered if he should tell her of the ‘other things out there.’ in the world. He lives in another world where most could think you are crazy and full of shit. Would she think he is full of shit if he tells her there is more then just vampires out there. He was scared she would run from him, but her wanted her to be safe. He had bought her a little present, and it was going to help keep her safe.
He didn’t want Shi getting hurt. It would kill him if she got hurt more then she already had been like with her ex boyfriend Adam. He was lucky to have saved her that night otherwise she maybe something he had to kill right now. He had shook his head from those thoughts and went back to making modifications on the car he was currently upgrading. He didn’t want to have to think about things of that disturbing nature. So maybe he should prepare her as a precaution just in case. He is close to many hunters the demons and other things are gunning for, she would be the innocent bystander caught in the crossfire, and he couldn’t take that. He couldn’t handle if something happened to her and he just got her back in his life.
The debate that he was having it was ending up in a place where he really did think he might have to explain things to her before they get too serious and she finds out and flees. He had the little charm wrapped up in a box that he got at the jewelers he bought it at. Trav hoped she likes it. He has been on a few dates, but hasn’t had anything too serious relationship wise, but there is something special about Shi, and they have hit it off since they were children. She had to work so he told her to swing by after she gets off and that he needed to talk to her. What he didn’t know was sometimes that meant bad things in girl code. He hoped that he didn’t make her panic too much.
Some of the customers wanted high tech modifications in their cars sometimes that does work in their favor with specialized codes or print open scans. They were a pain in the ass, but hey he was paid well and he works on regular car repairs too he learned from some of the best and he wasn’t like some of the other our hunting full time so this was a good little set up his father had going. He loved that his second momma is home and he could now see her more often to and stop in and get some goodies. He missed them when they were gone. So it felt kind of good to have them close by. He knew Shi would be out soon so he tried to get this lock box in the car as fast as he could so he could get the guns that were sprawled out into the hideaway box. He didn’t need her freaking at all the weapons just yet.
When she got there she looked gorgeous as ever. “ Well, hey there! Who’s that gorgeous gal that just walked into the shop?” He liked to make her blush a little.

Work had been.... long. For the girl who loved nothing more than to whittle away the hours in front of a canvas with some old brushes and far too many paint colours to choose from, spending ten straight hours behind the counter of a coffee shop was akin to hell. The work was monotonous, the customers the same, and seriously... there was only so much fun you could have shaking cocoa on top of mocha all day, even if you did start trying to make patterns with it by cutting holes in the napkin. Still, the young lad who had come in an hour before closing had seemed pretty fond of the Pikachu on top of his chocolate milkshake.
Now, shoving her apron deep into the depths of her locker, Shiloh attempted to do something with her hair, twisting into a ponytail low on the side of her neck so that the vibrant red curls tumbled over her shoulder and covered the yet to fade ring of marks on her neck. Staring into the reflective surface for a moment longer than necessary, Shiloh gingerly stroked her finger over neck, tracing the red marks until she shivered and let her hair fall back in the way. The scar was a reminder of something she’d rather forget, a reminder of the monsters that liked to hang around in the dark – of the dangers in the night with big fuck of pointy teeth that she still had nightmares about.
Finally, deciding that there was very little she could do about the coffee smell clinging to her skin without causing herself to be really late, Shiloh pulled of the shirt emblazoned with the coffee shops logo and instead pulled on something a little more her, a vest top and denim waistcoat, patches with various other colours of cotton and types of material. Feeling rather more like herself, Shy waved goodbye to the owner, her friend’s mom, and started down the few blocks to the garage where Travis worked. It was a path she had walked often, and one she could now traverse with her eyes half closed and dancing down the road to the music blaring in her ears.
Pulling the buds from her ears as she walked into the shop, she tucked them inside her shirt and then tucked her hands into her pockets, just in time to turn a deep shade of crimson at her boyfriends greeting, biting her lip and pushing some hair behind her ear. ” Shush you. I look like a tomato” She giggled, wandering over ad laying a kiss on his cheek, before leaning back against one of the metal benches, careful not to get oil or grease on her ass of course. So what are you working on today?” she asked with a small smile – Shiloh knew a little about cars, it came from her dad being a mechanic, and she could fix small problems... but if she was being honest, the modification work Travis did baffled the poor girl.

Travis was glad that Shiloh had came, and she did look to him as gorgeous as ever and she was all shy, and told him to shush she looks like a tomato. “If you’re a tomato then you are a beautiful looking one simple as that.” He had told her and beckoned her closer. He was def covered in grease… She asked him what he was working on. “I am installing a hidden lock box into this trunk with a code panel, which you have to have an access code to open it. Its defaulted right now, until the person chooses their code. Boring boring eh?” He didn’t want her to get to bored while here, but it was nice she came to see what he does and he did have a lil surprise for her.
“How was work today?” He asked her getting closer the guy was covered in grease and a bunch of stuff from being under cars and working on them all day. It was good that his father had this place and it kept him out of trouble and gave him something he liked to do. He wasn’t an awesome kick ass hunter like some of the family friends. “Anyone giving my lil tomato a hard time today?” He asked his eyebrows perched as he waited for her to tell him about her day today. It had been a few weeks now since her attacking and he really did want to keep her safe. Therefore, he must tell her the truth before it’s to late right and she ends up getting hurt again.
“I got you a little something…” He knew he didn’t have to but he wanted to. He wanted to protect her and he never felt like this with anyone before her. Sure, he has dated, but nothing of this protective magnitude. Was this house his parents felt about each other? Was this how his second momma felt about her husband? He didn’t know.. All he knew was he wanted to protect her at all costs. “ But, you got to close your eyes and open out your hands.” he told her and waited till she did so before placing a box in her hands. It was a necklace on of the protection short to protect her from possession. He has a tattoo, and now she has a charm and if she had seen the tattoo well then he knows she may ask him about what it means.
He was bracing himself for the questions once she opens the box. “ Its nothing too special, but I hope you will like it and wear it.” He had said to her, as he leaned up against his work bench looking her over and waiting to see her reaction when she opened it.

. If nothing else, this boy knew how to make her face as red as her hair, which she took to twirling round her finger as she lent back against the metal bench. At his beckon however, she stopped, pushing off from the bench and wandering closer to get a look at what he was working on. ”An access code? What does he need one of them on his trunk for? Surely a key works just as fine?” She grinned at him at the idea of it being boring. His work way baffle her, but there was little boring about trying to figure out why someone needed the extra protection on the boot of their car – hadn’t these people heard of insurance? ”What are they gonna keep in it? Illegal drugs?” Shiloh grinned and nudged him conspirationally ” Dead bodies?”
”Work was work ya know? Same as always. Brewed coffee. Poured coffee. Same people, same job. Still, I used to think it was boring. Now? Not so much…” Shiloh’s hand lifted fleetingly to her neck as she spoke, her fingertips gently caressing the ring of teeth marks she often covered with her hair. ”I made some kids day though when I drew Pikachu on top of his milkshake” She laughed, grinning even when the bubble of noise was long gone from her chest. If the rest of the day had been indifferent, the Pikachu had certainly made it better for her – and possibly for the kid too.
”You did? You didn’t have too Travis, really” she smiled, kissing his cheek, though rolled her eyes when he said she had to close her eyes for it. She liked surprised as much as the next person, but since she had been made dinner for her vampiric ex, she didn’t like not being able to see what was coming next. Still, she closed her eyes and held out her hands – Travis made her feel safe. She knew that it was unlikely that anything could get to her, could hurt her, as long as he was around.
Curling her fingers around the box, Shiloh’s eyebrows raised in surprise when she opened the box to find the necklace inside. ”Wow Travis this is beautifull” she smiled, lifting the small charm from the box and holding it in her fingers. She recognised it, though she had no idea where from, and it took a moment for her to remember. Turning, she pulled her hair out of the way so he could put it around her neck. ”This is like your tattoo baby… what does it mean?”

Shiloh is just too cute he is glad that he had run into her again and that they have what they have now. She is amazing and special and he wants to protect her from the things out there. She was asking what they were going to keep in the boot of their car seeing as it had an access panel. She was asking about illegal drugs and bodies. He scrunched up his nose, and thought about it. It could be possible, but he didn’t think that is what it was for this fella is a hunter after all, but she doesn’t know that.
“Well I am sure they all have different reasons why they’d want a key pad. Maybe they live in their car and keep the cash they have in it?” He said with a small shrug. He never knows what they use it for just assumes it is for weapons and to protect their assets. Which what he said to her wasn’t a total lie. He locks his computer up and stuff in the car. Never can be too careful these days.
He had asked her about her work, and listened to her explain about the normal basic day. It made him wonder what he’d be doing if he had a normal as hell life. One that didn’t know of the dangers of the world. The world that is just beneath the surface. She had a little taste of that world now, with that ring on her neck where her ex had bitten her. She told him how she made some kids day by drawing pikachu on his milk shake. “ I am glad you made someone’s day making them a milk shake that is so sweet and kind of you. He said pulling her close and giving her a hug and then began to tease her, “ So where is mine with Darth Vader?” He asked a teasing brow raised.
He had told her that he got her something and he blushed when she kissed his cheek. He still blushed like a little school boy. It was embarrassing in a way, but he loved it. She rolled her eyes when he said she had to close her eyes, and when she did, he gave it to her and waited for her to open the box. He hoped she liked it and when she opened it she said it was beautiful, and she seemed to recognize it as one of his tattoo’s and asked what it meant. “ Well, I have some explaining to do on that and well you may think it’s a little weird, but it is a protective charm to keep you safe from evil beings.” He said to her and waited to see if she’d think he was mental.
“ We both know you know about vampires, but what if I was to say there are more then just vampires out there in the world?” She had to have known his family wasn’t the most normal family in the world right? He went to an academy for hunters after leaving primary school. He was waiting now for her to tell him that he is crazy… he had to let her know now right before one pops up into her life and she doesn’t know what it is. Being with him was a risk and could get her in danger, so be for they get way too serious she needs to know of the risks. So she can still maybe run away if she wanted to. He was worried that she would. “ I am not telling you this to scare you or anything. Just to protect you. I won’t let anything happen to you.” He told her looking into her eyes.

Shiloh did not envy anyone who had to live in their car, despite the fact that not all that long ago she had been willing to give up everything she knew to do just that. But of course, it had soon turned out that giving up everything she knew would be a lot more than she had ever thought. She didn’t like to think about how things might have different if travis hadn’t been in the woods that day. Best case scenario, she would have fangs. Worst case scenario... well... her dad might have had to bury another family member.
If they had ever found her.
Deciding not to think about it, Shiloh swept her red curls back over her shoulder and turned around, fingering the pendant that now hung at her throat. ”If you want a darth vadar milkshake babes i’ll make you a darth vadar milkshake” She grinned, leaning back once more against the counter as she just looked at him. There he was... her geeky, dorky hero. Who... she was quickly beginning to believe she was falling in love with. Gah, this girl was falling fast, and she was falling hard.
Fingers grasped around her necklace, her smile turned to a small frown at his words. ”A charm? Like... witchcraft? Other thing? Baby, i don’t know what you’re talking about...” And it was true, she didn’t. She had no idea about these other things that went bump in the night, the creatures other than vampires the ruled the darkened skies and were responsible for far more deaths than the police were ever willing to admit.
”Baby... if your trying to scare me it’s working... what are you talking about? What other things? ” She looked at him with wide eyes as her fingers curled tighter around the charm that hung from her neck. She would believe him, when he explained – if there was one thing to be said about Shiloh Raines it was that she was a trusting sort of person ; she’d follows a murderer into a dark alley if he said there was an injured child waiting in it’s depths.

Travis had been teasing really about the Darth Vader milk shake, but it made him grin that she would make him one if he really wanted one. She was so sweet it was one thing he adored about her more then anything. " Your the best you know that? " he asked her. She was also a very trust worthy person, and it was about time he told her the truth on things. It was the best way to keep her safe if she was going to be with him. He still is his fun loving nerdy self in the long run. He's still the same person. He just has some baggage that she should know about especially what he was doing on these cars and stuff.
She looked so cute as her fingers snaked around the pendent, it was really a picture perfect moment and it did look good on her and he'd sleep better knowing she was safe from demonic possession. When he tried to explain some things about the pendent she seemed to frown a little and asked if the charm was like witchcraft and didn't know what he was talking about with the other things, and he was really beginning to panic a little more. He didn't want to scare her off now. What if she thought he was full on mental now? " Yes you can say it is almost like witchcraft. It is a protection symbol." He had said biting his own lip a little wondering how he could put the whole thing delicately.
" I don't mean to scare you, Shi. I am not trying to at all." She knew Vampires were real one tried to make her a midnight snack or worse. He didn't want to think about the possibilities that he may have had to kill her if she turned to one and feed like a crazy mad woman, but them sexy locks of hers she'd be a devious and beautiful vampire, but he didn't want to think on that. " Please don't think I am crazy... or anything, I am not. I am being 100% truthful with you Shi." He watched her closely, watched as she clutched the pendent and was looking at him with wide eyes.
" When I say 'other things' I mean like you know things that are creepy crawly in the horror moves we watch. Most of the things in the movies are really out there. May not be exact as in the movies , but they are real... Werewolves, Vampires as you know.. you were attacked by one, spirits, demons, witches the list is endless. That pendent is to protect you from demonic possession. It is one of the ways I can protect you from the things unknown to most. I was raised to hunt these things. That is what most of these custom modifications on the cars are for to hide things you might not want police to find. "
Now all the taking her for hunting practice might make sense to her a little bit more or well target practice and why he knows how to use a gun, and has a decent enough aim. Sure, he isn't the best like those he grew up with. He is more the brains and research type, but he wants to keep her safe. He would hate for her to get taken by one of these things that he hunts. She needed to know. What if he goes out on a hunt and something happens to him or he never comes back. He'd hate for her to think he just wasn't interested in her anymore and dumped her. She deserved better then that.
He watched her carefully, and waited for her to say something looking at her with pleading eyes hoping that she'd believe him and not think he was some kind of crack pot.

Slowly, one by one, the pieces of a mystery Shiloh had never truly realised she was part of slid into place. The red head could practically hear the thunk as each piece slid into position, lining up to create a big, neon flashing sign in her head. The man she was dating, and who she had thought she had known for a long time, was not who she thought him to be. At all.
For a moment, Shiloh stood and stared at him, letting the realisation of a lifetime of lies sink into her skin and wash over her consciousness, taking a minute to fully comprehend what it meant. On the one hand, it meant that her boyfriend lied to her. Daily perhaps. That there where things in the world she’d rather not know existed... and that he was putting himself in potential danger to stop them. One the one hand, for an irrational moment, she thought that the reason her ex had been turned into a vampire was Travis’ fault.
As her fingers once again curled around the new pendant at her throat, logic and rationalisation kicked back in, and she realised that he had been simply trying to look after her. It was the gift of Shiloh’s personality that she was so forgiving, that she was so rational, and that she could often see things clearly from another’s point of view. Yes... the gun training, the turkey hunting made sense now. Yes, the pendant and the charms and the reasons for the locks on the trunks of cars made sense now. But that didn’t replace the fact that he still sat and ate mountain of junk food with her whilst they watched old slasher movies with her. He was still the same person who had saved her life, and who hadn’t pushed her the night he didn;t have protection, who had gone to her house under the assumption of friendship and nothing else.
He was, Shiloh realised, still the man she was falling n love with.
”I don’t think you’re crazy” She said, looking up to him with a small smile. ”I think you were trying to keep me safe.” Stepping towards him, Shiloh wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her face into his skin, inhaling his scent as she stood on her tiptoes. It was a long moment before she released him. ”I get it Travis.... but... will you tell me more? About them? When i ask? Not.. not now... let me get used to the fact they’re real... but answer my questions when i ask them?”

Travis knew it’s possible that this could possibly not end well with what he is telling her. He does want to protect her and doesn’t want her to get hurt again. He didn’t know what he’d do if she got possessed by a demon because he was reckless and didn’t tell her about this stuff. He had to keep her safe. He thinks he loves her, and it would hurt to lose her to the ugly side of the world he lives. He didn’t like lying to her about this stuff. He had to get it all off his chest and confess, and that is why he had given her this protective charm. He really didn’t want to lose her, and he is sure that his parents like her, and would hate to see her suffer a fate that could come along with being near him.
Travis wouldn’t want her father to lose her to the things that skate around his life on a daily basis. Not everyone can live there the demon possessions they endure. Not all are demons are bad demons some still hang onto humanity, but he couldn’t risk it. He had been training her a little bit without her even knowing it, but that was because he wanted her to be safe. What if he was gone and something happened. He wanted her to have some line of defense. He’d do anything to keep her safe. He’d paint her whole house and make sure their was salt in the paint so that ghosts couldn’t cross it and terrorize her, and that demon’s couldn’t get in.
Travis did not want to lose the girl before him. He didn’t know what he’d do if he did, and opening this can of worms he knew it was a gamble that she could walk away right here and now, and he was expecting her to slap him or something for keeping these things from her, but that didn’t come at all. She had wrapped her arms around his neck, and pressed her face against him and he wrapped her arms around her and held her close listening to her words stroking her hair softly.
He was glad she didn’t think he was crazy, he held her close and whispered. “I am sorry for keeping this all form you.” He looked at her as she pulled away and looked at him listening to her speak again and she understood he had been trying to keep her safe and all the things they did, like the turkey hunting and paint ball guns and stuff had to make sense to her now. He was born and raised in this life, and as he learned from those he knows it always comes with a hefty price when it comes to trying to be normal and loving someone.
“ Of course I will. Whenever you are ready, I will answer your questions anything you ask. I promise. Cross my heart and hope to die kind of promise.” He knew it was a lot for her to handle, but at least the truth was out there now and he felt better getting it off his chest. Who knows maybe she’d willingly want to learn more to protect herself, and her father.
“Do you have plans tonight? “ he asked changing the subject since he didn’t really know if she’d want to be alone or if her and her daddy had plans. She didn’t want to know about these things just yet, so he wouldn’t say anything unless she asked. She didn’t have to stay here while he finished working on this car if she didn’t want to either. He wouldn’t blame her if she needed some alone time to get a handle on the things he just told her. He went back to work on the car, and looked over, at her where she was standing still wearing the pendent. It made him feel 100% better that she was protected.

Shiloh smiled, and kissed his cheek gently, glad for his understanding. Shiloh was still trying to wrap her head around the idea that these things existed at all. She had a feeling, as she tucked one of her red curls behind her ear, that it was going to get a while to get used too... and only when she did would her mind burst with enough questions that she was pretty sure Travis was going to ask her to just shut up already. Once Shiloh got going, there would be little chance of sleep until she had all the answers.
In fact, she decided, Travis should consider himself lucky that the questions weren’t tumbling from her lightly glossed lips already.”Thank you baby” She smiled, and stepped away from him as he went back to work, leaning once more against his work bench, more than happy to just watch, and play with the charm that hung from her neck, twiddling it in her fingers. Resting one hand on the metal bench, her idle hand beat a slow rhythm against the steel, in time with a tune that had slipped into her head.
”Tonight? I was pretty much planning on spending it with you” Shiloh smiled, looking up from the pendant to gaze at him with big eyes. ”Thats if you don’t have any other plans i mean. Dad’s away again, so i was thinking we could rent a movie or something?”
