Death masks – While having no inherent powers whatsoever, Jack possesses a set of three cursed 'death masks', rather grotesque items that have been passed down through generations of his family. These masks are apparently harmless – until put on. Upon being worn, the masks bring out different, and in every case remarkably unhealthy, emotions in the wearer. Having worn each a number of times during his stint working on the 'wrong' side of the law, these masks have formed a relationship with Jack, and apparently 'whisper' to him in an attempt to be worn once again.

A BRIEF CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Jack Kenneth Cafferty was born to two remarkably unremarkable parents, and is the first of five remarkably unremarkable children. Hailing from the rough streets of 'Irish' Boston, Cafferty was raised believing that he would achieve nothing in life, and that the only way to survive to any decent extent was to take what others had, what others earned, and make it his own. He became a pick-pocket at a young age, and a be-muscled thug during his teen years, preying on those less physically prevalent in order to earn 'quick' fixes to his monetary problems.
Of all his family – Jack is currently one of the only two members still living and avoiding serving long periods of time behind bars, and have generally been forgotten about. Jack's father – however – became something of an urban legend – or rather his death did. After having disappeared for a long period of time, emergency services were alerted by friends and neighbours. It took them only a few days of searching to find his body buried in the local cemetery beneath a headstone with a somewhat messy etching reading 'Waste of Space.' Coroners and forensic experts have theorized that the man was buried alive after suffering a remarkably violent physical beating. He no doubt suffocated, lungs crushed and filled with dirt as it was piled upon him. There are to date no witnesses to the crime, but general suspicion suggests it was the man's own son, who raided the house soon after, leaving with everything of value.
In truth, it was indeed Jack – but it had not been just his own doing. While he had wished to hurt his father – his intent was never to kill. In an attempt to conceal his identity, he'd put on an old mask, one of a set of three, that had been kept in the garage for as long as he could remember. Once the leather material had covered his face – he'd been consumed with rage, and pushed to murder – driven by voices in his head. After the event, while he wished to leave the masks behind him, scared of what had happened, he was unable to do so.
Since then, Jack has been part of a number of rather illegal activities, and tends to be found wearing an odd death mask during robberies and hold ups in order to conceal his true identity. No matter where he goes, the masks follow – whispering to him, trying to get him to wear them again.
