Winter.
Simi absolutely hated it. While Christmas was a season to be celebrated and she loved the magic in teh air... She hated the general crappy health season that seemed to go with it. It seemed that colds and the flu always ran amuck when it started getting icky out and the last week she'd felt completely drained of energy.
Between feeling like her stomach was going to hurl at any given minute and just feeling like sleeping all the time, the little witch had given up on doing much and spent the last two days curled on the couch with her favorite blanket and pillow. A long rerun of her favorite movies and a twelve pack of 7-up later and she STILL wasn't feeling up to par.
Since she very seldom ever got sick, the young woman was beginning to wonder if a trip to the doctor was in order but she hadn't run a temp and while she always felt tired.. The general queasiness was kept to early morning and late afternoon into evening so she wasn't even sure what she could tell a pychisian.
However, she was going to have to make a decision soon as to what to do because christmas eve was two days away and she needed to get packed and head for home to help her mother with the preparations. Something that would no doubt make her condition noticeable and send her mother hen of a mother into overdrive.
Something to be avoided at ALL costs
Not to mention the fact that she'd told Ryder she wasn't really real hot. She'd managed to field away his concern so he could concentrate on the hunt but it wasn't going to take much to have him speeding back her in overprotective mode. Just that thought had a soft smile gracing her lips as she moved to the kitchen area and hunted for a can of soup to warm up.
As she went about the actions of preparing a meal that would no doubt get left by the wayside for hte most part, a soft knock came on the door leading from the downstairs. Calling out a "COME ON IN!" Simi heard the patter of feet and saw the dark head of her cousin Tams appear.
"Hey you... Whats up?" she asked, staring down into the unappetizing chicken noodle soup.
Tameryn:
Tameryn Rawley was rather enjoying having her cousin, and best friend, living with her. It was nice knowing that you could pop upstairs and just have a girly chat or a cry when you needed to. Not that Tammy didn't completely respect Simone's privacy, it was just that it was a lot easier to walk up to the attic than it was to get behind the wheel of a car right now. She felt huge and she coulda sworn she wasn't this big when she was pregnant with Eden. Hell she'd swear she wasn't this big at nine months last time. But the poor thing still had three of them left. She'd told Kellen a few times that she was fed up and that if the baby could survive it, she'd be getting it out of her there and then. Tammy wasn't very good at being pregnant, she didn't cope well, didn't mean she didn't love her daughter and the child inside her with every inch of her heart though. Being pregnant was just.. a funny thing.
Tammy's hubby had been forcing himself out of his sick bed the last few days, determined to do 'christmassy' things with Eden. While Tam would much prefer that he'd stayed in bed and rested, she couldn't argue with the man when he just wanted to have fun with his daughter. Whenever he couldn't manage it, you could physically see the pain in his eyes. Tams had seen it over simple things, like Eden asking her daddy to go play in the small measly amounts of falling snow or asking him to spin her around like an airplane. At two years old she wasn't old enough to understand what her dad was suffering through, but neither of her parent's could deny that she was being so well behaved.
The young mom knew her cousin was unwell, but between taking care of Eden and Kellen and shipping Nerd out when he announced he had flu, she hadn't had the time to run up and check on her yet today.
She left her baby in the almost capable hands of her other baby, leaving Kellen with strict instructions to call her or call her cell if he needed help and headed up to Simi's room with a hot water bottle and some hot cocoa.
Tam had held the bottle between her teeth, careful not to rest it against her bump as she knocked on the door and subsequently, moved to open it. She took the bottle out of her mouth and smiled at the clearly exhausted blonde.
Her smile, while typically Tameryn, was also slightly sad and sympathetic. "God girl, you're starting to look like me." She found a safe place to put the things down and held her arms out to her cousin. "How you doing?"
Simi:
As her cousins blossoming form finished its accent into the attic apartment, Simi looked from the soup to Tams face and back again before it was plucked out of her hands. A goodnatured wrinkle of her nose showed her distaste for even the thought of eating and then she turned to lean on the sink counter.
"I've had better moments..." she said truthfully, feeling as if her stomach was going to flop over again and reaching for a conviently open package of crackers. "Hows everything downstairs? I know I"m suppose to be the one helping you these days and I'm doing a piss poor job of it it looks like." she said with a sigh. "Are you sure its safe for you to be up here? Whatever this bug is I've got is kind of nasty... I don't want you and the baby catching it..."
Putting the tip of the cracker to her mouth, the slender blond nibbled at it a bit and was glad to feel her stomach start to ease a bit. Frowning at Tams, she looked her over for any signs of illness and determine that other than looking very pregnant and a run more than a bit ragged, she looked ok. Tilting her head, Simi looked down at her own fannel Hello Kitty lounge pants and Ry's tshirt and grimaced. She definitely couldnt' say that about her self.
"I swear.. I haven't had the flu this bad in.... well.. EVER.. Its always been a twenty four or fourty eight hour thing before... This has been a week!" she exclaimed in obvious agitation.
Tameryn:
Tammy raised a suspicious brow at her elder cousin. She noted everything, the way Simi looked, handled her self... The way she seemed to lighten slightly as she nibbled on dry crackers. But she was quickly snapped into touch as Simi spoke.
"Everything's fine. Eden's helping daddy make a gingerbread train. Though, last I looked, Eden was technically helping daddy eat gum drops." She said, giggling gently. "And you know me Sims. I don't ever catch those things." A small sigh escaped Tameryn but a condescending smile graced her face. "Are ya sure it's flu? I mean, Nerd's come down with it and he's all phlegm and snot... Could be somethin' else!?" God when she worried, she sounded like her mother. She was her mother's daughter through and through.
Simi
Snickering a bit at the mental image of "Nerd" and the two co conspirators that were no doubt making a dent more in the candy than the train, it took Simi a moment to focus on the end of Tam's question. Blinking a bit, Simi looked at her quizzically and wrinkled her nose. Her expression clearly said she had no clue what Tams was talking about.
"What do you mean? I don't have a cough or anything so I know its not congestion making me feel like this."
