Standing at the edge of the sidewalk, Gabe tilted his face up toward the dark sky. It was midnight and the temperature had dropped nearly to zero; sending frost over almost every tractable surface. He was freezing in his jeans and leather jacket, goosebumps rising over ever inch of his skin.
But he drank in the night like an elixir of life. It was almost…alive, he thought with a little smile. He could hear the city breathe; he could feel every movement of every shadow as they crept through the streets and the buildings…and it was beautiful. He felt one with nature, one with the city.
…And one with the fat moon above his head. Ah, he loved full moons. It was a time of magic.
Taking a deep breath, the gangster took in the smell of smog, exhaust and winter. It bit at his nose and froze in his throat, and he basked in the cutting pain. From behind him, he could hear movement; someone snuffling around, moving back and forth across the park path at the other end of the sidewalk. They were approaching, moving closer and closer toward him, but he ignored them.
He had bigger problems to worry about; other enigmas to consider. For one, there was the ongoing hunt for the werewolf who had attacked him, in an attempt to take over his territory. Their fight had ensured that others in the area didn’t try it, but only the asshat’s death would ensure his hold on the city was secure. After that, he would hunt and exterminate every other werewolf in Kansas, thus making his name known in his monstrous world. He would be hated, feared and respected; just what he’d always wanted.
Now, he just had to find the fucker who’d tried to off him, and life would be good. Better, actually, he thought with a grin. It was good already, given the fact that he had a firecracker on his side of the fence. Just thinking about the former human hunter made his body tingle in all kinds of fantastic ways, and his fingers curled around his upper arms as he crossed them over his chest. The fever of her turning had finally ended, and he’d taken it upon himself to attempt to train her, but the woman had a stubborn streak a mile long. Finally, after some broken bottles and a few arguments, he’d given up and had let her hunt the werewolf on her own.
He kept himself close by; following that sweet scent around the city like a lovelorn puppy. It was both annoying and amusing, given that he’d never felt so damn…protective over anyone before. It was probably just hormones; the fact that his wolf seemed to think hers was so damn interesting. But, either way, he was becoming quite…interested in her, acid tongue or not.
With a little sigh, he forced himself to relax and basked in the moon’s sweet glow. He was giving the person behind him ample time to ‘sneak up,’ before he whirled around and tore them to pieces. Ah, blood. It was the best way to start off an already interesting night.
((Baaaah, this' so bad. If you can't work with it, lemm know and I'll try again. >< ))

HERE WE GO AGAIN; WE'RE SICK LIKE ANIMALS WE PLAY PRETENDAJ Robertson , SO TAKE IT EASY ON ME; I'M AFRAID YOU'RE NEVER SATISFIED ---------------------------------------------------
OK, so turning wolf wasn't exactly what AJ had planned for the rest of her life. However, there were definite benifits to the life as she was quickly coming to appreciate. Benifits such as the nice rear end she was currently oogling as she tried to sneak up behind him.
OK, so maybe he probably already knew she was coming but... Didn't mean she couldn't enjoy the view before he pounded her into the cement right? Rightttttttt.
Back to business. No point in gettin distracted just cause her new hormones were kicking her in the ass and making her wonder how many ways they could make use of the various shadows in the park. Nope, definitely not getting distracted over that no matter how bad her inner wolf wanted out to play.
Forcing herself to concentrate, AJ was just about to move forward when another shadow creeping up behind the other were caught her eye. Shifting her attention to the culprit, the former huntress felt her eyes flare with interest and then narrow with disgust. It was obvious that the idiot had no clue what he was dealing with because even as she watched, the barrel of a gun started to arch upwards. A sniff in the air told her that it was nothing more menacing that gunpowder and lead but it was still enough to earn him a death sentence if Gabe interceeded before she did.
Rolling her eyes at the stupidity of some peoples children, AJ instantly through herself into action. With light, hurried movements, she slipped through the shadows like a wraith to come up behind the attacker just as he took aim. The surprise in the man's face was small satisfaction even as she brought her leg up in a roundhouse kick that sent the gun flying into the bushes and hand him howling in agony.
"YOU BITCH!! YOU FUCKING BITCH!! YOU BROKE MY ARM!!" he shouted at her even as AJ saw Gabe's gaze whip around and land on them.
"Shuddup you fool!" she snarled at him. "If you know whats good for you, you'll get the hell out of here before he makes it over here......"
"FUCK YOU!!" the man snarled back even before she'd finished her words.
From the other side of his coat, AJ saw another barrel come out and cursed. This one wasn't just loaded with regular ammo.. This one carried silver.
"Man... SERIOUSLY??" she swore, noting the weapon and shaking her head. "You really should have run while you had the chance, asshole."
As it came up to point at her chest, the young woman hissed and made to dive out of his target range. When the gun discharged, she felt the bullet whistle by her just a hairsbreath from her face and cursed as she hit the pavement.
"YOU ARE SO FREAKING DEAD AND YOU DON"T EVEN REALIZE IT, YOU ASSHAT!"

It was with a sense of peace that Gabe gazed into the night. Sure, there were people trying their best to sneak up on him, and if his nose were correct, one of them were male and sporting something with gun oil…but he was oddly calm as he waited for the scene behind him to play out. Was he feeling suicidal again? Had the moon brought out a tamer wolf? God knew that he’d been feeling less confrontational with AJ around, and thoughts of creating a pack fresh in his mind. It was quite uncharacteristic to entertain such emotions, but it felt almost right. For the past few years, he’d been consumed with becoming the most powerful gangster in the United States.
But now? Fuck, man…all he could think of was the fact that Lawrence, Kansas was his territory, he’d marked it with blood and his alpha bitch was protecting his back. All was right in the world.
…It was really too bad that it wasn’t alright in his fucking HEAD. Jesus Christ, he’d obviously lost a nut during his fight with the werewolf the other week. He was so dead…
At the cock of the safety of a gun coming off, Gabe turned around to raise a brow at the stranger behind him. Whatever calm expression on his face immediately turned into an animalistic snarl, but before he could do anything, AJ leapt out of the shadows and diverted his attention. The wolf inside him went insane, more so when she went so far as to attack the man. Was she CRAZY? She could get herself shot! Fucking hunter instincts!
Then the shot sounded, and all intelligent thought fled from Gabe’s brain. The gunman managed three shots in the female’s direction, but she was too quick for them. The stranger in question, however, was not so lucky. He could feel that familiar burn in his eyes as they changed from human brown to a glowing amber and with an explosion of movement, he charged into the fray.
He could smell silver on the air and the wolf inside went even crazier. The newest asshat, obviously a werewolf hunter, swung his arm, trying to aim at his new foe, but Gabe was too quick for him. With an upward snap, he shoved the gun to the side, and yanked. The sounds of cracking bones and tearing sinew shot through the air, and the hunter started to scream. Blood misted the air through the tear in the other man’s coat, and a triumphant growl sounded from deep in his chest.
Crying, the would-be assassin fell to his knees, clutching his arm, now attached to his body only by pure will. Looking down at him with a savage smile on his face, which was speckled with frozen blood, the werewolf turned glowing eyes to his female.
”He should have heeded your warning, darlin’. You should know that Hunters aren’t ones to listen to us monsters. So…pop quiz; what do we do with Hunters who try to kill us?” TAG - AJ boo WORDS - a lot NOTES - lovin these two! TUNES - the comedown, bring me the horizon CREDIT - MUNZTAR * of caution 2.0

HERE WE GO AGAIN; WE'RE SICK LIKE ANIMALS WE PLAY PRETENDAJ Robertson , SO TAKE IT EASY ON ME; I'M AFRAID YOU'RE NEVER SATISFIED ---------------------------------------------------
Now wasn't this just interesting as hell?
AJ had known that the other were was cagey as hell but she hadn't exactly been expecting him to go all balistic on her. He looked as if he'd happily rip out the other mans throat just for lifting a weapon at her. From what she'd seen in the past, this wasn't the coldly lethal creature she'd come to expect.. This was a pissed as hell, want to bathe in someones blood wolf.
Damn, was it wrong that it kind of turned her on? Yeah, probalby but... Then again, she'd never claimed to be a proper sort of chick. She found it entirely to damned sexy that he wanted to defend her from the sort of prick that now lay screaming on the pavement. It made her want to jump his bones right in front of the dude.
Stupid freaking were hormones. She had to get a handle on them before it made her do something truly stupid.
Focusing her attention back on the current moment, AJ frowned down at the would be assassin before moving forward. It was obvious that one arm was beyond repair, hanging by a few mere strands of ligaments, while the other was shattered and probably wouldn't ever hold a gun again. All sense of threat slid away as she computed the logistics and then leaned down to snag the dudes back pocket and pull out a wallet. Flipping it open, she looked at the ID, committed it to memory and then tossed it down on top of the fool. Her dark eyes glittered with menace as she knelt down and looked the man directly in the eye.
"Listen up, asshat. Your finished... Through with whatever job you were doing. I know your name, address and face. I ever see you again or if you ever send anyone after me or mine again? I'll see to it that you and everyone you love is wiped off the face of the earth." she growled out in a low, mean tone that lent truth to her words. "and just in case you think that fake id will give you sanctuary?? I'd think again. I know some of the best hackers in the business and I can and will find you and take you out like the wounded beast you are. Nothing.. i mean NOTHING.. will save you from my wrath if you so much as breath what happened here today.... "
Seeing the fear and terror flaring hot in the idiots eyes, AJ stood back up and turned to face Gabe coolly. Her eyebrows arched as she dismissed the withering man and her voice was calm as she looked him up and down.
"I don't see any need to kill something that already knows the penalty if he doesn't do what hes told. What fun is there in killing something that can't fight back any longer? Besides... He was only doing his job and never any real threat to us.... A few days ago... I was one of his sort..... Look how that turned out...."
Then, giving him a once over look that said she had better things to think about, she stepped away from the man and the blood pooling on the ground. Her inner wolf was restless and she suddenly felt the urge to hunt. To feel the warmth of blood on her own sharp canines. Logic told her if it didn't happen soon she was going to be in bad shape.
Growling with an inner frustration, the petite young woman whirled away from the scent of blood and took off blindly in the opposite direction. If Gabe chose to kill the fool then it was no more than he deserved but AJ wouldn't be a part of it. Instead, she gave into the need to hunt for something that she wouldn't feel guilty about killing. Something that would be....
Before she could even finish that thought a scent wafted to her over the breeze. A shrill shriek caught her ears and suddenly she was bounding forward. To her enhanced hearing, the sounds of hard blows turned from muffles to loud thuds as she raced onward. Skidding around the corner a few streets down, the former hunter was already charged for a fight when she found an older man beating on a young girl who was no more than a child. When he caught sight of AJ's small form, he sneered at her and she caught the sight of the girls battered face and the odd angle her wrist was canted.
Oh yes, this was much, MUCH more like it. This one deserved to die. She would take great pleasure in it.

His breath was pumping out of his chest like a bellows, as he watched the female. He could practically hear those wheels turning, and a smile tilted his lips. Her eyes were going back and forth between the hunter and his arm; taking a curiously long time to come to a decision. Wasn’t it kind of a no brainer? She should allow him to kill the man, so that a message would be sent to others of his kind. Not to mention that, if he were dead, neither of them had to worry about him getting a prosthetic and trying the crazy mission again! What was with the thinking? Did she WANT to deal with another assassination attempt in the future?
And, more importantly…why was he thinking that she had to allow him to kill? The realization was quite daunting, and he fidgeted as all the amusement he’d previously felt drained away.
He had no master; no one to tell him whether or not to take action. He was in control; he was the leader, the alpha. Why did he stand there like some kind of putz, waiting for her to tell him that it was alright for the hunter to die? Maybe he was seeing if his influence was changing her? Tainting her?
The thought made a thrill go through him, and his body tightened in response. Thank God that she started speaking, or he might have jumped her right there in front of the dying hunter.
Despite his inner revolt against her words, the werewolf found himself inclining his head to her. ”I suppose you have a point…though, I must point out; killing them is SO much more satisfying than letting them live. You never have to deal with ‘what if’s’ in the future, if they’re already buried underground.”
But he let the assassin drop, despite his words. The man proceeded to curl up into a ball and cry, and Gabe rolled his eyes. What was deemed ‘tough guys’ nowadays…it was so sad.
When AJ tensed and whirled away, the gangster was hot on her heels. It was strange; how he felt a sort of pull when he was around her. If he hadn’t known any better, he’d think that there was some kind of link between them…as if he had been the one to turn her into one of his own. But that was next to impossible; it was probably his wolf craving an alpha bitch to run its pack. Nevertheless, he followed the former hunter until she skidded to a halt.
The scene in front of him was brutal, but Gabe felt nothing as he watched the older man beat the child. He’d endured worse treatment in his own past; beatings that had left him hurting so badly that he couldn’t move for weeks. And then there were the men and women that had paid for an hour…he shook himself. He’d learned from an early age that the world was harsh, and one just had to deal with it or die.
Feeling the tension in the female’s body, he stepped closer. He didn’t touch her; merely letting the heat of his front warm her back. Bending his head, he spoke next to her ear. ”Do you feel your wolf calling for blood?” He almost purred. ”You want to help that young girl, don’t you? Well…do it. Give into the moon; kill the bastard. He deserves to die and you need a run before the need becomes too great.” TAG - AJ boo WORDS - a lot NOTES - lovin these two! HERE WE GO AGAIN; WE'RE SICK LIKE ANIMALS WE PLAY PRETENDAJ Robertson , SO TAKE IT EASY ON ME; I'M AFRAID YOU'RE NEVER SATISFIED ---------------------------------------------------
IT was funny how easy the line between right and wrong could blur. As a hunter, Aj had seen and done things that would have made a strong man weak..... but this..... This was different.
If she took the actions she craved to take, it wouldn't be self defense or even acting within the boundries she'd set for herself. It would be cold blooded murder.
Deserved, maybe.. But murder just the same.
Could she sincerely play judge and jury when she didn't have concrete proof of his crimes? Was it in her to take a life without first attempting to turn him over to the right authorities?? Aw, hell.. Who was she trying to fool? The right authorities? That was a laugh. She could see the savage brutality shining from the assholes eyes and the enjoyment he got out of beating the poor young woman. No doubt he'd done it before and the "proper authorities" had slapped his hand and let him out to do more harm.
At that thought, several recent newlines flashed through her head about the bodies of young women being found beaten to death and dumped in the local landfill. Instinct told her that this man could very well be responsible for those too.
Her inner were growled.
The animal shifting inside her head gaze out with predatory eyes and it wanted to taste the civilian's blood. Warring with her logical side, she snarled "MY KILL" and scoffed at the human's hesitancy. This was her territory to protect and the fact that another predator dared to intrude on what was hers made her angry.
VERY ANGRY.
She wanted to bound forward and rip the bastards throat out with its savage teeth and leave him lifeless on the brick floor of the alley. The young woman's whimpering raised imaginary hackles and the feel of Gabe's body behind her urged her onward. Of all the crimes the asshat could have committed.. Beating a helpless young girl was the worst. AJ could still see her mothers own beaten, mutilated corspe in her minds eye and she'd vowed never to stand by while another met the same fate.
So she she did exactly what Gabe wanted her to do. She turned her wolf loose.
Before she did so, however, her gaze dropped to the girl as the man let go of her and she slumped to the grouned. Her eyes softened just a bit before she rasped out.
"GO.... RUN NOW"
Like a scared fawn, the girl took on look at something on AJ's face and bounded away. The man shouted and made as if to go after her but in the blink of an eye, the shewolf was shifting, moving in graceful flow.
One moment a woman and the next a silver pelted wolf, she allowed him no quarter as she rushed to meet him head long. The man's eyes widened but the screamed died in his throat as her wicked canines clamped around his throat and shook him like a rag doll. It was an instant death and much to easy for the likes of him but the deed was done.
As the body flopped in its death convulsions, AJ savored the taste of his blood in her throat and felt triumphant with the knowledge that one less monster walked the night. By the time it hit the street with a thud, her coat was soaked in a crimson river and her beast was satisfied.
ONly then did she turn back to look at her mate and wonder at his reaction.

Ah gah…it was probably wrong as all holy fuck to be turned on by that possessive growl, but there he was, sporting the happiest happy place on the goddamn planet.
When AJ turned those now wolf-like eyes toward him and growled out her claim on the kill, he wanted to grab her by the hair and kiss her until she whined. The wolf inside was already down that route; practically begging him to change and ‘when the lion sleeps tonight’ her until the cows came home. But damn…it was the pride that really got to him.
The pride that his mate was defending their territory as stalwartly as he. So, okay, THERE was the big problem; the whole ‘mate’ thing. Fuck yeah, this little slice of Podunk was his territory, but…mate? Seriously? When the fuck had he decided to settle down and…aw shit, he was now entertaining thoughts of cubs. What, did wolves get hormonal, or something? His biological clock was just FINE! He didn’t need thoughts of procreation!
He’d tried that once and it really hadn’t worked out too well, for either party…
There was a large, prideful smile on the werewolf’s face as he watched the girl sprint away. He was half tempted to run after her, just for the hell of it, but the sight before him was just too beautiful to leave. One second, AJ was vibrating with fury and the next, she was vibrating with hate-ridden growls on all fours. Her wolf was beautiful, and his own began to whine and growl for release.
His mate was fighting a lesser animal, yes, but he had to stand guard and protect her anyway. What if the asshat with the big fists had friends? His nostrils flared as he took in the cool night air and searched the shadows around them. He was completely devoid of emotion when the human began to scream and gurgle, but it was the thought of another leaping out to take his woman by surprise that had his hackles rising.
While the huntress took care of her new enemy, Gabe quickly stripped down to the essentials and let the wolf take over. With his black coat, he blended in nicely to the surrounding darkness and easily ghosted over to where the she-wolf was making friendlies with her toy. He didn’t want to distract her; to set off the animal into thinking that he would steal her kill, and so, he moved slowly toward her.
When she was finished and turned toward him, he padded over with a wide, wolfish grin on his black lips. Without a glance down at the body, he licked at the blood around her muzzle and neck, almost lovingly. This one had lots of promise, the human inside him thought. Lots of promise indeed.
Feel better now, my love? The words were set more in thoughts than actual uttering. Or would you like to go after the girl, as well. I can still hear her running.

Crimson. Such a beautiful color. The color of fresh spilt blood. Blood like that that splattered the ground around her and smelled like heaven.
On some level, the human side of AJ knew she should be horrified by the brutality that she'd just participated in but her inner wolf gloried in the feeling. It howled and withered with delight at the thought of another enemy vanquished and another threat to its territory destroyed. The taste of the liquid seemed only natural and she sat down on her haunches to lick at the mess on her coat.
Then and only then, did she turn to acknowledge the other that stood in the alley with her. Oh, she'd known the male was there but this had been her kill and as alpha female, she'd taken it as her due. Besides, what did the male know of maternal feelings? He saw everything as prey but this one.... This pervert had been killing a cub. It was not to be born. It could not be born. He'd needed to suffer.. He'd needed to die for his actions.
So justice had been meted out. By her paws, not her mates. A feeling of deep satisfaction filled her even as the pad of paws brought her attention back to the male. A lick and a nip later and she was on her feet and shaking out her matted hair. The words that rang in her mind made her snap warningly at him and then she gave him her back as she padded towards the alley entrance.
The mere thought of chasing down the child made the maternal side rise up and the boundaries in which was would allow her beast out became more firm. She would kill to protect, defend and serve justice upon but she would not kill for the sake of killing. It was best to start the way she meant to go on and if Gabe didnt like it.... Well, he would just have to deal.
Reaching the mouth of the alley, AJ raised her nose to scent the air and then smelled the crisp scent of the river. Letting out a little yip, she glanced over her shoulder and a bit of mischief danced in her dark eyes. Springing forward, she raced towards the sounds of the water in a game of "Catch me if you can" and didn't even slow when she reached the bank.
With a long leap, she crashed into the water and came up with a sputtered laugh in human form. As the water rippled softly around her, the last of the blood and gore washed away and she reveled in the feel of the cool water against her naked flesh. OH yes, there were diffinetly good points to being a were since their normal body temps were warmer than normal and the cool water merely felt good against heated skin.
Glancing upwards, AJ treaded water and waited to see if her lover would join her.

If a wolf could laugh, Gabe would be chuckling his furry head off right then. He was a bit surprised how proud he felt, seeing his mate bring down the perv bleeding at her feet and how she took to the gore around her with ease. It was probably the wolf, he reminded himself as she turned to look at him. Once she was human again, she would remember the night and look at him with disgust. She had been a Hunter; a person of justice and blah, blah. How would she take killing a man- a human- in cold blood?
Him, on the other hand; he was the same in fur and in skin. Murder, torture, mayhem, it was all in a day’s work for a guy like him. He and his wolf were on the same page in most things, which made his life so much easier. But AJ? How would her ‘rational’ mind react when she realized what she’d done?
Curious as to the answer, he watched her closely. He was poised to run, eager to head after the soft pounding of feet as the girl ran farther and farther away, but the she-wolf growled a warning and snapped a ‘no.’ Disappointment made him growl in response, but he was soon distracted by the challenge in his mate’s eyes as she sprang toward the river a few blocks over.
With an answering growl, he went after her, though keeping his stride a casual lope. He didn’t have to catch her to get what he wanted; the wolf inside him was firm in that knowledge. Even so, the flicker of memory about the other Were currently haunting his territory made his hackles raise and his eyes narrow on the fuzzy butt of the female as she ran toward the water. He had to really make a show and soon, or he was going to go insane.
Hell, it was even getting hard to sleep, with the knowledge that he hadn’t killed his competitor, only wounded him. He wanted to hunt the fucker down; skin him alive and present it as a gift to his woman. The man inside him rolled his eyes at the declaration, but the wolf was practically drooling for more blood.
It was the difference between them, he supposed. Where AJ had balked at killing the child, he had relished the thought of a hunt. Whatever; he was a belligerent douchebag even when he was on all fours. It was a syndrome.
Hearing a splash and a very human laugh that came after, Gabe padded to a halt and snorted. A second later, he was walking on all fours, naked as the day he was born, toward the little lake. Crossing his arms over his chest, he raised a brow at her before walking into the water.
”Good to know that you don’t mind some skinny dipping. So, woman…how did you like your first kill?”

HERE WE GO AGAIN; WE'RE SICK LIKE ANIMALS WE PLAY PRETENDAJ Robertson , SO TAKE IT EASY ON ME; I'M AFRAID YOU'RE NEVER SATISFIED ---------------------------------------------------
For a man of action.. Gabe sure did talk a lot.
With the cool water lapping at her bare skin, AJ still felt the beast inside on a primitive level. She wanted something more than a bunch of meaningless chit chat and she was put out that her mate didn't recognize the need. However, the human side of her nature knew what he wanted and a simple shrug was all the response she felt needed.
"It was not my first kill..... It was only the first kill in wolf form.... Come now, Wolfman... Its not as if I was a saint before! I've killed my fair share of monsters, human and beast alike before... That asshole was simply another in a long line of bastards that needed to be put down."
Tilting her head back, she allowed herself to sink under the water for a moment and when she came up, her eyes flashed with predatory need. Trailing her tongue over her lips, she found purchase on the bottom of the river and padded forward until her small body was inches from his even as she reached up and wrung the excess water from her long black hair.
"However.... I find that the .. exercise has given over to a more... Animalistic need... So unless you want to stand here talking all night, I think there are better ways to make use of our time... don't you?"
Reaching up, she wrapped a hand around his neck and pulled him down for a kiss that was almost ferocious in its intensity. With the water bouying her weight, she wrapped herself around him and then nipped at his neck.
"So... whats it going to be, Wolfman.....A little less talk and a lot more action or do I go find someone more interested in scratching my itch??" she growled playfully even as she shifted her body and felt him respond.
