BELIEVE you me when I say that the realisation in the reality of demons was a new one for Prim too. But given her new set of friends, Simmi, Chey, Makayla... even Talon... given her last three months? Well, Prim was beginning to realise that a lot of things in her life were getting shaken up – that a lot of the things she had taken for granted, normality, was not normal at all, but far from it. So... being told that leo’s mom could do things? If she was being perfectly honest, it almost didn’t surprise her. Hell, if someone turned around to her and said that the dog down the street turned into a dragon during the night, she didn’t think it would so much as faze her these days.
Damn it, she had changed.
But then, that much was obvious was it not, in the small fact that she had slept with a demon and sold him her soul? If anything, she was embarrassed by that part... she was embarrassed by all of it. The conditions for her soul were silly, childish when she looked upon them in retrospect... but sleeping with him as well? That truly was the icing on top of the cake. The worst part of it all however? Secretly, deep down... she didn’t regret sleeping with him. And that was the part that scared the poor girl the most, the part she shut away and refused to acknowledge... because that made her feel like dirt. Like one of the prostitutes that hung around the street corner in the red light district near the thrift shop where she worked.
Still, she was surprised that he chose that part to focus on, and she pulled away from his chest, nodding. The guilt was evident on her face, and prim Thatcher chewed her lip, staring intently once more at the bedding, and as such, not noticing that he was turning a nice shade of scarlet. Now, more than anything, she wanted to rewind time, and just tell him it was a dream about being chased by zombies or something, convince him everything was ok and send him back downstairs to his marathon whilst she curled up and hugged a pillow. Read a textbook. Something. But she knew well and good that he wouldn’t let her drop it now.
Taking a deep breath, Prim rubbed the heel of her palm against her eyes, removing the moisture from them, and started. “You... you can;t tell anyone ok Leo? You’re not even... I’m... i’m not supposed to tell anyone... but... She paused again, curling her hands into fists in an attempt to stop them shaking, using the pain of the nails digging into her palm to stop from crying. “Demons are real Leo. I don’t know about angels or God... But demons are. Remember.... when we first met.... and I kept going to see a therapist, and I never told you why? Everyone just thought I was crazy? It’s.... because... when i was little... i thought the man who burnt down our house had had black eyes...” She looked up at him, trying to read his features and taking a second to calm herself and get her thoughts in order, reaching across to finger the scars that licked across her left shoulder. Taking another, calming breath, Prim told him everything. About the drugs, and the therapy... about finding out they were real from Simi.... about Deus (though she never mentioned his name), and his words... how he had tricked her into admitting what she wanted most and took her soul in exchange for that realisation.
The entire time, Prim stared at the bedspread, and she finished with the affirmation of his earlier exclamation. “... I did sleep with him Leo.” The guilt and shame for what she had done was evident in her voice then – she was not Leo who took delight from sleeping with as many women as he could, she was not one fo these girls that slept around with anyone, anything that had a dick or access to alcohol. She had always been the good girl, but she didn’t feel that way anymore.

Jeeze, of all the things to get hung up on, he HAD to go choose the ‘she slept with someone’ thing. It wasn’t like she was his girlfriend, or anything! For God’s sake, she was talking about having sold her soul to a demon! A DEMON! Either Prim had finally found religion, or something was terribly wrong, there. Who the hell cared that she slept with someone; she had no freaking soul!
…And yet, there he was, wanting to kill someone. Him, Mr. I Don’t Give A Shit, wanted to find the fucker who’d had sex with his Prim, and wring his fucking neck.
Holy Christ, what was wrong with him?! Wring someone’s neck? His Prim? Gah, he needed sleep, something to steal/sell and money to roll in. He was obviously going through withdrawl and having weird feeling-hallucinations…
Just like right then, when he felt both anger and freaking pain when he saw the tears in her eyes. He felt so damn powerless at that moment, that he was really tempted to…cast a spell, somehow, and freaking kill her dream! He hated to see her cry; Prim, the best girl in the whole world, with a heart of gold.
But it wasn’t exactly gold, an evil little voice in the back of his head whispered. She ain’t no saint, to go sleeping with demons, now is she?
Fuck, he hated that voice. Maybe he could go take his frustration out on it? YEAH, YOU PUNK. RUN!
Ducking his head to catch her gaze, he tried to put a reassuring smile on his face. ”Prim, baby, I won’t tell nobody; I swear. Don’t worry about that, okay?” He wanted to go on, to tell her that everything was going to be alright, that he’d fix things…but then she started talking and the words shriveled up.
He remembered a few weeks when Prim hadn’t showed up in school; when the teachers had whispered about a freak accident and fire. He’d heard rumors about her family and had seen how she’d retreated into herself…but Jesus, black eyes? Demons? He was just getting used to the ‘witch and magic’ thing; demons and angels?
Ah gah, he was going to Hell…
”That’s okay, Primmy. You made a mistake,” He said softly, rocking her slowly in his arms again. ”Do you think this…demon came to you because he was involved in the fire?” He paused, his arms tensing a bit around her. ”And did he…I mean, did he like…spell you, or something? Er…”

WHY did Prim Thatcher have Leo Barone right then? What had she ever done in her life to deserve this of her best friend, comforting arms and words that made her chest feel like it might explode. She certainly did not feel like she deserved it – she most certainly did not feel like the girl whom had first met him, all blushing and stumbling words before they had settled into their easy going routine of banter and remarks, the innocent flirtation because she knew it would never go anywhere, even if...
No. Even in his arms now, it would not due to dwell on that, when so much else swam in her mind. His words cut through the fogginess, and she swallowed thickly, finding her voice amongst the tears to answer him. ”I don’t think so Leo. He... he said he wasn’t he... said he was not, a normal demon, and I never saw him with...”She swallowed, for the idea of those black eyes still made icy fear grip her heart. It was the very reason she never met anyone’s eyes, the very reason she found it so hard to meet his eyes. It was the last thing she had seen before she had lost her parents, her home... before the flames of the fire had seared her skin and left her marked forever. ”I mean... he said ... no. I don’t think it was him.”Was that not the whole way he had lured her back to his arms after all? With the assurance that he was not like the other demons... was not like anyone.
She felt ridiculously safe in his arms, and ridiculously guilty. Deus had had her, but it was not like she had anyone she was saving it for right? She had waited all this time in the thinking that it might happen, one day, someone special – but it never had. Prim was too much of the town freak for anyone to ever care, and it had simply been something she had accepted. Had she been under a spell? It might have felt that way... but at the same time, she knew in her heart of hearts that she had not. ”No...”She swallowed. ”I mean... it wasn’t like a magic spell or anything... but... when he was touching me... i couldn’t think straight... i couldn’t think at all. It was all... the... emotion. It was just, feelings... and i felt like i couldn’t control it.”
She was blushing furiously, and Prim could feel her cheeks burning. This was awkward, talking about this with him. Leo was her best friend, but still. It had been her first time, and she was still not comfortable with the whole idea... if anything she would much prefer to imagine it had never happened.
”One hell of a mistake Leo...”

His arms tightened slightly around her as he felt her body tense. He knew that she was imagining the horrors she'd just described, and longed for the ability to make her feel safer. Even though he supposedly have 'gifts' that a normal mook like him shouldn't...he'd always shied away from them. He'd seen his powers, the eerie vibrations that he felt whenever he was close to something old and strange, as something to be feared. Hated. Hell, he'd go so far as to say he frigging despised them on any other day...
But that one? Fuck, he was really wishing that he took some kind of How To Be A Witch class, or something. Maybe if he could learn how to use his crap ass powers, he could help his friend.
Actually do something worthwhile in his crappy life...because damn, if Prim wasn't someone really worth helping. Just the picture of her writhing in some Medieval version of Hell made him want to jump off the nearest roof and his rocking stopped as he looked down at her. What if there were some kind of spell that could force this 'Deus' to give up her soul? Hell...how did one get back a soul, anyway? And how did they put it back into a person's body? Fuck, he had to do some research on all this...maybe find a demonologist, like the guys in the movies did.
Well, he was sure proud of himself for taking all this so well. Demons and selling one's soul...huh. Lookit that.
"Yeah, well...we always end up thinking our first time was a mistake. You remember Missy Calvetti from Biology class Freshman year? Oh yeah...if she could'a owned my soul, she sure would have tried."
Okay, so many cracking a joke wasn't the best way to go, but it was in his nature to attempt to make a down person crack a smile. Sobering afterward, he slid a finger under her chin, urging her face up so he could look into her eyes.
"Prim...everything's gonna be alright, I swear it. I'm gonna find this demon and make him give you back your soul. It's what I do y'know; steal things and break deals."

LEO was truly everything she needed right then. Whilst he rocked her, whilst she told him everything and admitted that what she hadn’t to anyone else – well. He had guessed it. Since when had her Leo become so inutile? During the five years they had not seen each other, they had certainly changed; though Prim might argue if, in her case, it was for the better. But, if she asked her, she would tell you that she liked this side of Leo. Prim had seen glimpses of it before she believed, the times when she had been teased in highschool and he had heard, when someone had called her a freak, or crazy, had found her pills and told the entire school she was a crazy Schizo, well, he had always stuck up for her - even when it rolled off her as easily as water, but yes. She liked this side of him.
His attempts worked, and Prim smiled, a slight upturn to her lips. She had never thought about Leo as having a first time... hell, as being with anyone. It was an undeniable fact of course, and one she accepted – hell she’d had enough girls asking her about it after all, but it had never been something the two of them had talked about. She was sure, if they had, it would have only made her uncomfortable. ”Missy?”She asked, arching one of her brows as she tilted her head, managing to look up into his chin, and the result of him not having shaved since that morning. Damn. She wanted to ... wait. She wanted to what? She blinked, and concentrated on what he said instead. ”Her? She was Nice!” she insisted, though not entirely sure what she meant. She had always thought Missy was nice, but she had never realised she was the start of his long list of girlfriends.
Well. Those girlfriends anyway.
But anything else she might have asked him was lost when his fingers found her chin, and she leant back from his best to look at his face. She could see his eyes trying to catch hers, despite concentrating on the faint remainder of a freckle on his cheek, just below his brown orbs. But when he said he would do something, Prim’s eyes opened wide in fear, and her eyes snapped to his, looking into them with an intensity she did not know she possessed.
”No! Leo! You can’t!”She said, though her voice quiet, the desperation clear if not in her tones, her eyes, then in the way her hand found his shirt and her fingers twisted fretfully in the material, clinging to it. ”Please, Leo. Promise me you won’t!” Her eyes kept his, looking for the promise he that he wouldn’t try, that he would do as she asked. ”If anything happened to you... i... If he hurt you i don’t think i...”

Damn but seeing that smile on her lips was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen. Was it wrong to contemplate how she’d taste if he kissed her? If she’d push away from him and throw him out of the room?
Fuck, it probably was. She was his friend! His best and only friend; no way in hell was he going to act around her as he did around every other woman on the planet. With those girls, he just wanted a good fuck and that was it. But with Prim? He wanted…wanted…
He had no idea what he wanted, he realized with a mental pause. He wanted…something. Something much unlike what he was used to with the other women in his life. But what was it? His mind wandered for a second as he considered it, but he didn’t get the chance to dive in, as her eyes snapped up to meet his.
Once again, his brain turned back to the kissing part of his little mental aside. Her eyes were more freaking beautiful than the sight of her smile. They were so big and clear; able to look right into him and see those ugly things he tried to hide. They took it all in, and then told that smile to come onto her lips; saw everything and forgave. She was so damn beautiful.
Forget Missy Calvetti; why hadn’t he ever seen any of this before? Prim had always been there; always around the halls and at his side, when he needed someone to talk to. But he’d never really seen her as anything but the quiet girl with the big heart. Maybe that had been his subconscious warning him not to fuck up their relationship. He wasn’t exactly ‘boyfriend’ material, after all.
But fuck, wait, was she saying something? What were they talking about? Forcing his brain to go back to the present, Leo frowned down at her. His thumb was absently tracing the curve of her chin, and stopped when he realized what he was asking of her. Pulling back so he didn’t feel as if he were towering over her, he gave her an incredulous look.
”Jesus, Prim…are you asking me to do nothing?” He asked, brows furrowed. ”I don’t care if it’s dangerous; there’s no way in HELL that I’m going to let you go to Hell! Are you insane, woman? We’ll figure something out…maybe I can talk to Deus and work out some kind of deal. A time extension, if anything, so we can figure something else out.”
Pausing, he looked down at her and frowned when he felt a strange…fuzzy feeling in his chest. ”You’re not going anywhere, Primmy. I…I need Wednesday Waffles.”

”YES”She answered, nothing was exactly what she was asking of him. Nothing was exactly what she wanted him to do, because if he did something, if did what he wanted and made a deal.... how was she to know that Deus would not ask for his soul too? Would not ask for something more from him? It was bad enough she had done what she had done, that she had made that mistake, but at the end of the day, it had been exactly that. It was her mistake. If she was going to get out of it, if she was going to find a way around it, to save herself from the pits of her dreams, or the reality of them, then she was going to do so in a way that meant no one else got hurt.
Not Simmi, not her friends... and most definitely not Leo. Not when he was the closest thing she had had to family for her time in High school, and again now.
Except, that squirming thing inside of her, the fireflies dancing in her stomach from the trace of his finger across her jaw... they were telling her that Leo wasn’t just family now weren’t they? They were telling her that she longed for something more than the relationship they had, even if her head told her it couldn’t - shouldn’t ever happen.
And perhaps it was that reason as well, that she refused to let Leo get involved. Surprising herself, Prim found a small laugh escaping her throat. ”A time extension? Leo... i don’t think you can get much longer than a lifetime.”
When he finished speaking however, Prim’s heart thudded against her chest. Damn, Damn, Damn him to hell with her. He should not be allowed to make her react like this – his words should not be allowed to make her knees weak, the fact he cared so much make it actually hard to breathe. Despite herself, despite everything that her head told her, despite everything she knew of him and what he could be like, about how stupid she was being, the fireflies won out in the battle of head VS heart and Prim leant up and kissed him hard on the mouth. She was mad at him for caring so much, mad at him for daring to do something dangerous for her... and mad at herself for not ever realising what was right in front of her.
And now Primrose Mia Thatcher accumulated it all into a single motion, and Kissed him.

With a sputter, Leo could only look down at Prim in shock. Did she REALLY think that he’d sit back and let her die? Be tortured for all freaking eternity? God, to ask that of him…sure, he acted like a nonchalant fool who’d rather party hardy than take anything seriously, but…fuck, man! Did she really think he could do that, even for her?
With an unhappy grumble, he carefully moved her until she was sitting on the bed beside him. She was wiggling a bit too much for his liking, and he needed some distance from the pleading in her voice, lest he forget what he was steeling himself to do. A lifetime his ass; even the best, most fulfilling life shouldn’t end up in some freaking…hardcore priest’s version of the ‘fires of hell!’ Prim was too damn good to end up down there; too gentle, too kind. Now, someone like him, who basically broke everyone’s laws and enjoyed it; he was the type of guy who’d deserve to end up in Hell.
Scooting toward the edge of the bed, Leo turned a scowl on his friend. ”I don’t give a shit, Prim, there’s no way you’re goin’ to Hell! We’re gonna work something out…maybe there’s a magical object-thingy that I can use to barter for your soul. ‘Cause woman, if you think for a freaking minute that I’m gonna just stand by and let you—“
With a little sound of surprise, Leo managed to catch himself before he fell right off the edge of the bed. One minute, Prim was just looking at him with an expression of fear and determination, and the next…holy Jesus God, she was in his arms, kissing the all holy frick out of him.
For a moment there, he was too stunned to move; eyes wide open and staring into hers as his arms did a funny little pinwheel to either side of her. Pulling away from her, he looked at her with shock. His breath was sawing out unevenly now, and his brain was working a mile a minute, trying to catch up with the desire, the need to do…something.
Shit, man, he should push her away and try to get a grip on the situation! It was so obvious that she was trying to distract him, and then there was the fact that things couldn’t go in…that direction, if he wanted to remain friends. He had some kind of really annoying ‘panic button’ inside that never failed to send him running, and he couldn’t do that to Prim! He wasn’t good for her; she was too good for him…
But with one glance down at her lips, he was gone. There was a reason why his kind was meant for Hell.
Before she could pull away or his common sense could catch its breathe, his head swooped down to capture her lips once again. He kissed her slowly, holding the back of her head with one hand while his other arm wrapped itself around her waist, pulling her into him until she was once again in his lap.

”I”T was with a panicked realisation that Primrose Thatcher realised what she had done. She had no way of knowing that Leo wasn’t about to leap from the bed and run screaming for the hills about the madwoman in flat 6/7, no way of knowing that in actuality, he wouldn’t mind her kissing him at all. As far as Prim had ever seen, Leo was the best friend whom she could tell anything, who now knew all of her dark secrets as she knew all of his. It was quite possibly, the relationship that mean most to her.
And here she was, ruining it.
Of course, the startled look in his eyes and the way he nearly fell off the bed didn’t help either. If nothing else, it had worked to distract him from the conversation she really did not want to pursue, but honesty telling all; that was not the reason she had kissed him. Not really. It had more to do with the overwhelming number of conflicting emotions within her, enough to make her feel like at any moment she might explode, and of course, the secret thing she had had kept from herself for the last god knows how many years, whose existence she had been able to deny for five simply through his absence.
She hated him for walking into that bar that day. She hated him for agreeing to live with her, for always calling her his Primmy, the way sometimes he might even say baby, and make her heart flutter like the wings of a hummingbird, so fast it freakin’ hurt. But she would rather suffer that pain than him not be there at all – and this realisation was perhaps the hardest, even if it was a truth she knew all along.
He pulled away and Prim sat back, chewing on her lip and feeling like a complete idiot, hoping to God somewhere that she was dreaming this and she would wake up somewhere; or at the very least he would wander to his own bed just down the hall and wake up in the morning confused enough that she could convince him it had never happened. Hell. She’d even make him waffles.
But it would appear that she was not going to be let of this hook that easy, was not going to get away with her brash move, brought on by a moment of intensity, because as she opened her mouth to let loose the flood of apologies building in her chest, they were cut off by his mouthy embrace, and Prim melted. Pulled once more into his lap, prim sat with her knees either side of his legs and kissed him back, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Right then, words and thoughts were nothing compared to this moment, and were pushed far from her mind to worry about later. Much later.

Oh God…this was all so wrong, but- without sounding too cliché- it was so freaking right at the same time. For a second there, he was half expecting her to come to her senses and pull away from him; remember that, duh, they were friends and she was only trying to distract him from the subject of helping her get her soul back. Getting friendly with the privates was probably pushing things a bit too far…
But she didn’t pull away, and the sound of approval he made when she straddled his lap was from the deepest part of his soul.
One hand went to her hip, urging her down onto him as his tongue traced the seam of her lips. She tasted so damn good that, for the first time in a long time, he was able to make that whispering voice in the back of his head shut up. There was no hesitation in her that he could sense; no evidence that she was merely making him crazy to sotp him from doing what he’d promised…and it made something in his chest tighten.
He ignored the feeling; ignored the need to understand what he was feeling and gave into the sensation of his Primmy in his arms. She felt so damn right and the sounds she made drove him insane. He didn’t know where the sudden need to have her came from, but he embraced it without a second thought.
In the dark, he let himself go; ignore the twinges of fear that came with crossing the line he’d once promised never to cross. She was perfect, soft and inviting against him, and he gave himself to her completely. He even found himself whispering endearments in her ear, words that he would die before saying to anyone else.
And when the moment came to its climax, and his brain practically died from the pleasure of it all, he had to bite his tongue to keep another, terrifying word from exiting his lips. Neither of them was ready for THAT little declaration just yet.
Afterward, when Leo could remember his name and recognize the fact that he was currently in a bed, rather than floating on a cloud, he turned toward his best friend with a breathy ‘wow,’ on his lips. Collapsing onto his back, he pulled her onto his chest and held her close.
”Christ…I think I just died a little.”
