LEO was... well. He was Leo. But for those lingering moments she had him, he was just that – hers. His lips, still tasting faintly of the popcorn he had been eating, his salty skin and lean form were hers in the same way she was his. Prim was far from experienced, and she knew it in the somewhat clumsy way her hands traced him, but after, as she caught her breath and her sweat slicked skin began to cool beneath her thin sheets, she could begin to see what all the fuss was about after all.
Maybe.
Somewhat strangely, and most definitely irrationally, as Leo pulled her back against his chest and she laid her head just over the spot where she could hear his heart thumping through his ribcage, beating a samba with her own no less, prim felt safe. Yes. Safe. Despite everything, the niggling thought at the back of her mind that warned the girl that this was not going to last, despite that she had never, ever let anyone see the full extent of her scarring, she felt safe there, wrapped in his arms with his whispered words still echoing softly in her ears. If nothing else, she could certainly see how he might have wooed all those others girls to the luxuries of soft sheets with him.
Absently, Prim drew her nail on his skin, watching the very faint line she left in her wake fade in the gloom cast by the lights outside. Should this be awkward now? Part of her felt like it should be – Leo was her best friend and nothing more; no matter how much she might want it to be otherwise. Still, she forced those thoughts down, and allowed herself to bask in the warm glow she was currently feeling, to let herself simply enjoy these moments in his arms, and commit them to memory.
Tilting her head up as he spoke, Prim looked at him, meeting his gaze easily. She shifted slightly, twisting and laying her chin on her hands in such a way it let her look at him a little more easily. ”Died?”She asked, arching her thins brows at him, a small smile playing on her lips. ”I’m not sure if that’s a compliment or not...”Prim teased, scrunching her nose up at him before sighing softly, content. She would be happy to lay there for the rest of her life if God had the good grace to let her, to curl up in his arms and fall asleep, let him chase away the nightmares of the hours before.
Boldy, perhaps for the shy girl he knew so well, Prim kissed the ink that trailed around his pecs before laying her head back on the bed of thorns painted there. She felt like she should say something, but just what escaped her. Instead, she settled for Tracing his tattoo with her finger, sketching with her nails once more.

God, but he’d never felt this content, this relaxed, in all of his freaking life. Lying there, with Prim in his arms and his heart doing jumping jacks in his chest, he felt that if the world came to an end right then, he wouldn’t care. How he wanted to make the moment last forever; to keep her right there, lying so peacefully against his chest, until they withered away.
It was with an expression of awe that he looked down at her, tenderly brushing stray strands of hair from her face. He couldn’t help but wonder yet again how he’d never managed to notice how beautiful she was. She’d always been Prim, his best friend, confidant, protector, in some cases. She’d just…been there, as a supporting role in the movie that was his life.
But now? God…now, he was practically dumbstruck as to how he’d never noticed how flawless her skin was, scars or no. Or how soft her hair was, how it smelled like flowers. How could he have never noticed how her eyes lit up with a special kind of fire behind them when she was emotional or angry, or how damn good his name sounded on her lips, or how she looked at him like he mattered? How could he have never noticed any of that?
Without a thought, Leo leaned forward to kiss the tip of her nose, as she rested her chin under her folded hands. Contently, he crossed his arms behind his head and gave her a lazy smile. He was about to answer her, but feeling her little nail on his skin had him groaning in delight.
”You keep on doing that, and I’ll show you how much of a compliment that was,” He said, raising a brow down at her. When she kissed the tat on his pec, he had to resist the urge to carry out his ‘threat,’ instead contenting himself with watching her as she traced the ink with her nail.
The silence that followed was deceptively light, and Leo couldn’t help but shift slightly under her. Reality was threatening to charge back into the room, and he was hell bent on keeping it out…if only for a little while longer. Bringing one arm down, he idly played with her hair and ran his fingers along her shoulderblades.
”You’re beautiful, Prim. And that…that was really damn good.”

PRIMS nose tingled long after his lips had fallen from its tip, the same way her lips still felt raw, burnt from the kisses he had taken from her; that she had so willingly given. Her nail traced the line of the thorns as they curled across his skin, the dark ink in stark contrast against the pale tones – but even she noticed how pale her own porcelain skin was when compared to his. Sometimes she longed for the tan the others girls had, but the closest she had got to anything near those colours were when they were in Tahiti, and the sensitive skin that covered her back couldn’t take the concentrated heat of sun beds.
Skin that now sang as his fingers skitted across them, causing pleasant shivers to travel down her spine and into her toes that caused the slight girl to sigh contently against his skin and shut her eyes. Red crept across her cheeks as his words burned her ears. As if his small groans at the slow trace of her nail had not been enough to turn the tips of her ears pink, he had to go say something like that too? Prim buried her face in his chest, sure he could feel the heats radiating from her cheeks, but refusing to let him see it as well, to let him know how that she secretly delighted in those words. Once she would have denied it – but in recent days... she might start to believe it. Just a little.
She ignored the way her stomach had started doing somersaults, the butterflies that had taken root inside her, and laid her palm flat on his chest, her fingers curled slightly. When she felt like her cheeks were no longer in competition with Rudolph for the head of Santa’s sleigh, she tilted her head up again to look at him, the hint of a smile playing on her lips. ”Damn good huh? I even get cuss words... be careful or I might start to feel special. Let alone ready for round two.”She teased him, the small smile spreading slightly into one that tugged at the corner of her eyes.
Leo might be able to hold reality at bay, but for Prim it was already creeping into the back of her mind, a small niggle that was getting harder to ignore, one that asked how many other girls he had said that exact line too, how many other women had laid with him in this way. It prodded and pulled and told her that shouldn’t she be so proud of herself, another notch on his bedpost, another name to the list.
Again, she sighed softly and closed her eyes, trying hard not to listen to them, or the darker ones that whispered beneath, that warned her he would be gone when she opened her eyes to the sun. ”I feel like i could fall asleep again... But i don’t want too.”She murmured softly.

Leo couldn’t help but chuckle as Prim buried her face into his chest. His sweet, shy girl, he thought with a wide grin. She could meet his sarcasm at every turn, but when it came to his dirty little mind, she hid. It was so cute, that he was tempted to turn into her and steal another kiss. Maybe go so far as to dirty her own mind up a bit, to match his.
When she looked up at him, the grin on his face widened slightly and let the finger of his free hand lightly caress her cheek. God, but she was beautiful; all tussled, with her lips a bit swollen from his kisses. How he wanted to take her up on her offer and start that Round Two…but from the slight slur to her words, he knew that she needed sleep more than another roll in the sheets.
Wrapping his arms around her when she laid her head back down, he leaned over to kiss the top of her head. ”Get some sleep, honey,” He said, pulling the blankets over them. ”I just about wore you out, I think. Don’t worry; nothing’s gonna change come morning. I swear.”
Even though it was a hollow promise. Hugging her close, Leo knew that, come morning, that nervous, jittery feeling would be back. He’d have to go out and look for some ‘priceless object’ to sell, possibly get himself killed in the process…and move on to some dumb ass blonde with a nice rack and loose skirts. He’d pretend that he was going back to his old ways so that he didn’t hurt his Primmy…and he’d lose her in the end. He’d run, as usual.
His heart rebelled against the thought, and he frowned at the darkness that surrounded the ceiling. For the first time in his life, he wanted…something. To wake up next to a woman who really cared? And to keep on waking up to that pixie face. It was a thought that had him shifting a bit, until he remembered the sleeping woman in his arms.
It took a while, but sleep finally claimed him. He had no dreams, as usual, and yet, when rays of early sunshine cut through the darkness behind his eyes, he felt a kind of…frowning judgement. Bah, his conscious was stupid.
Scrunching up his nose, he squeezed his eyes shut, attempting to drift back to sleep. There was a weight on his chest that confused him. Had he fallen asleep with the popcorn bowl again? Cracking open one eye, he found himself relaxing into the pillows as he caught sight of a familiarly reddish head. Like a flash, all of the events from last night poured back into his head, and he gently grazed his fingers over the soft curve of her shoulder.
Last night, he’d slept with his best friend…and it had been the best he’d ever had. Holy shit on a stick, what the fuck was going to happen now?
Making sure that he didn’t wake her, Leo slipped out of bed. He stood there for a minute, watching her sleep with his pants in his hands. God, he really couldn’t understand how he’d never noticed how beautiful she was. A certain part of his anatomy came awake then; begging for a real ‘good morning greeting,’ but he quickly slid on his pants and went to the kitchen. For a second, he eyed the front door and his duffel by the couch, but instead of giving into the urge to run, he found himself making waffle batter.
The smell of semi-burning bread filled the apartment then, as Leo whistled happily.

Prim fell asleep almost instantly, her breathing growing deeper as she sunk into unconsciousness. She dreamed still, images and sound splaying through her mind, but they were nothing of the kind she had dreamt before, nothing of hell and monsters, though once morning came and she opened her eyes she could not tell you of what she dreamed instead, only that it was nice. As she imagined her Grandmother might have said, long ago, it warmed the cockles of her heart, and it was enough to make her smile gently in her sleep.
Oblivious to his shifting beneath her, to his absence one he had climbed from the sheets, it was the smell of burning that eventually woke Prim, and it first she was confused by the smell. Rolling onto her back, she stared at the ceiling and wiped her eyes sleepily, smiling softly at the dream she had just woken from. And what a dream that had been too, or what she supposed to be a dream, and the memories of it brought a tinge of pink to her cheeks as she recalled them, giggling softly to herself at the silliness of it. Rolling once more onto her side, she even fancied she could smell him on the pillow, and it was only when she realised she had nothing on, that her pyjama top was draped over the mirror on the other side of the room that it hit her; the dream was not in fact a dream, but reality.
Prim swore. Loudly.
Shit what had she done? What had possessed her to do such a thing? Damn it all, and now here she was, alone in her bed with the sheets still warm and his smell lingering, even if he himself was probably far gone, over the hill and far away. She sat up, and banged her head three times on her bent knees, swearing softly under her breath at her stupidity and her loss, when she remembered the smell of burning. Well. To top it all off, her apartment was burning down. Well. Wasn’t this turning out to be a great morning?
Knowing fine well that as far as the burning went she was most likely over-reacting, and that it was probably coming from one of the other apartments, Prim swung her legs from the bed, and glanced down in surprise when her feet met not with the soft rug she was accustomed too, but rather a shirt. Arching her brows, the leaned over and picked it up, grinning when she discovered that it was not hers, but Leo’s. Either he’d fled in just his pants, which actually, she wouldn’t put past him (though believe you me, if she ever caught up with him again, he’d get a kick in the groin so hard the he’d be singing in soprano for at least a week) or he was still here.
Despite herself, as she slid from the bed and pulled it over her head, followed quickly by her pyjama shorts, Prim felt something flare up in her chest at the possibility he might not have disappeared again. Damn it all, what the hell was she doing? Finding elastic, she pulled her faded red hair up into a messy ponytail whilst simultaneously deciding she fancied going back blonde, and padded from her room and down the corridor to the bathroom, and then crept downstairs.
Halfway, as her bare feet met the creaky step, she heard his whistling and grinned. Quickly descending the rest of the steps, she made her way into the kitchen and leant against the doorframe, watching his back for a moment before she said anything.
Arms crossed over her chest, she arched her brows at him and smirked. ”Leo Barone, If you’re destroying my pans, you get to pay for the new ones.”

“Rockin’ and rollin’, rockin’ in the rhythm Barbara Aaaaaanne…” With a little shimmy, Leo poked at the brown mass in his frying pan. He’d attempted to do one of those cool food-flips that he’d seen chefs do on tv, but this darn thing seemed to be stuck to the bottom. ‘Non-stick frying pans’ his butt, man…eh, then again, maybe he was supposed to spray the Pam on it before he started to cook. Aaah…that would make sense…
So, there he was; cooking breakfast for a woman that he’d had sex with and humming. For a minute, the thief had to pause and wonder about that fact, while he tried to pry his spatula from the ‘waffle’ batter. After waking up after a night of fun, he normally reacted in one of two ways; either with an ‘oh my God, I was THAT drunk?!’ or a zoom toward the nearest window. He did his best never to stay the night, and certainly never stayed around long enough the next morning to cook anyone waffles.
And yet…the other night hadn’t been like the others, now had it? He hadn’t just met Prim in some downtown dive, or been flirting with her for over a week and just managed to get into her pants. He’d known the girl pretty much all his life, respected her above almost everyone…and had had one of the best nights of his life in her arms.
Hell, he’d never even allowed himself to cuddle before. Who would’ve known that it felt really damn good?
With a sigh, he shook his head at himself. Bah, who was he kidding? She’d only slept with him because she was feeling unworthy of a normal relationship after having sex with a demon- ooh, there went his eyes, twitching like crazy again- and wanted to take his mind off of helping her get her soul back. Right about now, she was realizing that everything she did was a bad idea and probably trying to figure out how to kick him out of her apartment without hurting his feelings.
Because that was Prim, wasn’t it? Always thinking about other people before herself. Good LORD, she really hated herself for taking the likes of him into her bed. Shit, he was surprised that she still spoke to him; she was probably regretting everything right about now…
At the sound of her voice, Leo turned to look at her over his shoulder. Surprise flashed onto his face as he took in her, in his shirt, looking at him with that little smile on her face. She wasn’t…mad? Ready to yell at him? And hot freaking DAMN, did she look good in his shirt.
Relief poured through him as he grinned at her and motioned her over. ”Well…I was attempting to make some waffles for you, but I guess I didn’t watch you close enough last Wednesday,” He said with a wry grin. ”I’ll buy you a new set, ‘cause this one…yeah. Let’s just move the hazardous material to the sink and call it a morning.”
He laughed, and after dumping the now rock hard ‘waffle’ into the sink, he caught her by the wrist and pulled her into him. He bent his head down, giving her a quick kiss, before looking down at her.
”Good morning, Primmy. Hey…how would you feel about a day out on the town? I know we got things to talk about, but I wanna take you out first. Maybe…to a movie, or something. How does that sound?”

Prim eyes her destroyed frying pan with an arched brow as she cleared the few steps between them, her bare feet barely making a sound on the cold tiles beneath her. Okay, she knew she wasn’t the greatest cook in the world, so scolding him for burning waffles was not exactly something she could do when she had set fire to pasta the week before – but waffles were one thing she could do, and how exactly he had managed to stick not only the waffles to the pan, but her spatula to it as well was beyond her. Maybe they should stick to take-away from now on – at least there was no way either of them could set fire to that. Well. Unless they had to re-heat it, but since Leo had moved in there had been very little in the way of left-overs.
”Yeah... i’ll give the waste disposal team a call in a minute...”She teased him as she finally reached him, though anything further she was going to say, possibly along the lines of ”at least it was a nice thought”, died on her lips as Leo caught her wrist and kissed her.
Well. She had not been expecting that. Blinking slightly, she looked up at him and chewed on her bottom lip – and like every female on the planet immediately started over-analysing the whole thing. Still, luckily, and perhaps for the best she had very little time for her analysis for he was talking again, and his words brought a smile to her lips. ”I think I can do that.” She grinned up at him. He was right of course... they had a lot to talk about, but Prim was terrified of what those few words meant for them. If she could dissuade them for a day, enjoy a few hours at a movie, in town, having fun, they she was going to grasp that opportunity with both of her hands, and refuse to let go until she absolutely had too.
Prim made them breakfast first – nothing extravagant given that he had destroyed her frying pan, just scrambled eggs, but it didn’t take her long to shower and get dressed, smiling like a silly school girl practically the entire time. She pushed the dark thoughts that crept at the back of her mind deep into boxes, padlocking them away, and occupied herself with washing her hair, humming to herself in the shower, with getting dressed and choosing which shoes to wear – the latter possibly taking the most time. If there was one thing Prim had an extensive collection of, it was shoes.
Finally coming back downstairs, she grinned and jumped on Leo’s back, much in the same way she had done the day she had seen him in the bar, and much as she had done at random the entire time she ahd known the dirty blonde haired man whose neck she now had her arms around.
”Onward!”She laughed, pointing to the front door. ------ Don’t care for fairytales
