Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and file' gumbo 'Cause tonight I’m gonna see my ma cher amio Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gay-o Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou
Thibodeaux, Fontainenot, the place is buzzin’ Kinfolk come to see Yvonne by the dozen Dress in style and go hog wild, me oh my oh Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou
“And then, Billy Joe went over to the gator and started poking it with a stick! We thought it was dead, and Noelle thought we might take it home and see if Mamma wanted to cook it- or, at least, scare Daddy with that eyeball stew again, remember that? I couldn’t stop laughing for a week! But anyway, BJ was poking the thing and then it jumped up and started hissing! We all got soooo scared…”A guy had to love conversations with his twelve year old sister, especially when the only way she knew how to talk was to babble on like a lawn mower. Shaking his head ruefully, a lone figure let the hand holding the phone drop to his side. June would never even notice. Scratching absently at the back of his neck, Preacher strolled down the quiet city street, eyes trained on the green trees up ahead. Who’d’a thunk it that he, of all people, would crave a bit of green, after having fun in the big city? Him, the big bad night owl, who, at one point, would have sold his grandma’s soul for a good drink and a wild time? But there he had it…and, all in all, it was understandable. His beloved bayou was definitely much different from the hot, sticky desert that surrounded him. Talk about suffocating sometimes, no matter how much pleasure he got out of facing its hidden dangers. After a minute of ruminating, he put the phone back up to his ear…and was instantly glad that he did so. “And that’s when he kissed me!” June said happily, feminine glee in her voice. “I mean, I thought I’d tell you before you heard it from BJ.”“Wait what? Who the hell went and kissed you, June? You’re too young for that sh…stuff, cher. What’s his name? Tell me his name and put BJ on the phone.” The words left his mouth in an irritated tone, as he glared at the iron gate that sat at the park’s entrance. Hearing June’s unhappy whine, he instantly went into a lecture about what ‘lady’s’ do, and that she was too young to be doing it. All in all, it was probably quite amusing; such a speech coming from the likes of him. Gripping his phone in a hand sporting a simple silver ring and a leather wristband, he continued to walk, wandering down the street with something akin to a sigh. His worn black work boots scuffed on the gravel, and faded jeans swished softly in the quiet. Managing to balance the phone against his shoulder, he shoved a hand through his shaggy hair, scowling at a nearby cactus as he continued to rant. Covering the rest of him was a plain grey tshirt and a jean jacket that had seen more fights than God. Taking a drag of his cigarette, he rubbed at his stubble-covered chin and sighed, as his sister started to whine about ‘Mamma having fun’, and ‘being SO in love.’ Being the second eldest of eight children, Preacher always considered himself as being his younger siblings' protector. Daddy and Momma were too wrapped up in their own stuff, and Travis, the real eldest, was out doing his own- probably illegal- thing, so that left ‘ol Remy. He’d always felt bad, skipping town and leaving them back in Pottersville, but he knew they understood. Hell, they’d probably join him one day, when they got old enough. Whoop-dee-friggin-doo. After growling a few threats at June and charging BJ, June’s elder by two years and big enough to hold his own in a fight, to watch over his sister and make sure that the ‘dumb Tom didn’t come sticking things where he ain’t welcome’, Remy hung up the phone and just resisted to chuck it into the nearest bush. He needed him some beignets and coffee like crazy, but all this place had to offer was something...Starbucks. Neh, he'd try it out and attempt not to go stir crazy. He loved his family, oh yes he did. Ah, if only they all could stay so young. [/blockquote]

I hate living without you Dead wrong to ever doubt you But my demons lay in waiting Tempting me away Oh how I adore you Oh how I thirst for you Oh how I need you
-------- How wonderful it was to have a bit of time to herself for once, time to relax and just not think about shit that upsets her. Oh yeah...too bad that time wasn't now. Being beneath her car, looking over the engine or anything else that might need to be maintained, now that was something she would have rather been doing but right now, she was busy with a hunt that had taken up at least a week of her time and who knew how much longer if she didn't get the thing before it killed again. From what she could recall, the thing was called a Rakshasa and it was a creature that could go invisible when it wanted to, which was annoying as hell. She had the iron dagger with her but how could she kill something she couldn't fuckin see?! Seriously! Needless to say, Jade was most definitely not in a good mood as she wandered the streets, her dark hair was brushed out of her face in frustration as she looked around. Of course the Rakshasa was long gone by now or so Jade figured. She had to take it by surprise but that wasn't as easy as one might think, so for the moment it seemed her hunt had come to a halt. She wouldn't give up of course, it wasn't in her to ever give up on a hunt. She just had to be smarter about all this, had to work on finding where the creature lived and then kill it that way. If only it was that easy. Slipping her ipod earbuds in her ears, the huntress fought the urge to scream in frustration, that would hardly do her any good. Instead she started to jog, she wasn't exactly dressed for a jog but she had to burn off some energy and anger or she'd go nuts. It was definitely a nice day to go for a run, a bit on the hot side but she'd survive, she was used to all kinds of conditions but really, she preferred the heat over the cold any day. She was a total wimp when it came to winter conditions, she hated snow. It wasn't long before she found herself at a small park, nothing too special about it. Pushing open the gate, she jogged through the park as Breaking Benjamin blasted in her ears. She loved blasting loud music when she didn't want to think, meant that her mind focused on the music and ignored the fact that it wanted to think on memories that were upsetting or perhaps on the fact that she had pretty much failed on a hunt so far. Yeah...not pretty thoughts. Speaking of pretty... When it came to Jade, her life was filled with mere acquaintances and barely there friends. She rarely ran into people she knew and she liked to keep it that way, meant less distractions with her work. Still, it didn't mean that she begrudged those that she did run into when she was on a hunt. Remy... Self-proclaimed sex god who was actually pretty good in bed. Jade had met him what seemed like forever ago when she had been on another hunt, she had been really injured and he had healed her, she couldn't remember how but he had healed her and because of him, she had been able to kill the monster she had been hunting and she learned three new positions in bed that she hadn't known about either. From then on, she and Remy had had a reoccurring on and off again fling when they met up with one another. She hadn't seen him for at least a year but she could already tell that he hadn't changed a bit. He never did. Hmm...could she spare the time for a distraction? She had work to do but what was her life if all she did was work and had no time for fun? Well then she'd be Jessie and she didn't want that. Pulling her ipod earbuds out of her ears and walked over to where Remy was. He seemed a bit lost, as though unsure of where he was going or maybe he was just wandering. Who knew when it came to Remy. "Hey there Cajun, looking a bit lost." She said with a smirk as she walked up to him. Tags; Remy Lyrics; Comatose - Skillet Word Count; 747 Outfit; Outfit Comments; None

“Bebes,” He said with a snort. “God, I hope I weren’t like that when I was younger. Jeeeesus,” Tucking the phone into his pocket, he chose the first bench he saw and plopped down, taking out a pack of cigarettes. The sticks smelled disgusting as hell- sometimes, he really did hate that sensitive nose of his- but he did need something to take the edge off of things. There was just a…feeling that he couldn’t shake. Like he was being torn between the open road, and settling right where he was.
What the hell was up with that? Big, bad ‘Cajun Casanova’ Remy Bellafontaine? Settle? Lord Almighty, if anyone had mentioned that to him three years ago, he’d have laughed so hard he’d have passed out. But now…shit, now things were different, and he had no idea why. Maybe it was something about the fact his siblings were getting older and looking at his wandering life as being ‘cool.’ Or maybe it was the fact that, after a guy’s thousandth exorcism, he wanted to see something nice in the world. Or maybe, just maybe, he was getting ready to settle down.
Maybe those white docs had something to ‘em, when they started looking into that ‘biological clock’ thing. Not that he was going to start eating bonbons and knitting baby booties, but…damn, he hated it when he went into these damn funks. Got some bad mojo going through his brain; maybe it was time to break out a remedy.
Stretching out his legs and crossing his ankles, he tilted his head back and looked up at the sky, taking a long drag of the cig. Man, times did change quick, didn’t they? It seemed like just an eye blink back, he was shaking down cowboys and playing Casanova to the local pretty thangs. But now, nearing that oh-so-hated 3-0 Club—
Thankfully, he never got to finish the thought. Cutting through his reverie like a knife, the sound of a familiar voice piped up to the side, sending him tensing tight enough to explode. Gah, didn’t anyone know how to announce themselves as they were coming over anymore? Yeah, he had a face like an angel, but c’mon! Just because he looked hot, didn’t mean he didn’t have the soul of a warrior! WARRIORS DIDN’T LIKE GETTING SNUCK UP ON!
Jerking his head to the side, he was ready to either defend himself or give the owner of the voice an evil eye, but never got the chance. Instantly, like a switch being flipped, all of the surprise and irritation instantly morphed into a wide, welcoming smile.
Well, here was something to remind him of the good old days. Leaning back on the booth, Remy stood and put his hand son his hips.
”Jade, mon ami! You following me? It has been too long, and you must be missing me, eh?”

I hate living without you Dead wrong to ever doubt you But my demons lay in waiting Tempting me away Oh how I adore you Oh how I thirst for you Oh how I need you
-------- There was always just something so funny about catching a guy off guard because it meant that you got to see them before they knew to put up pretenses or act all stupid and macho. It was adorable to a certain degree and funny as hell just to see the look on their face when they whipped around, especially if they were hunters cause it meant they were ready to kill whoever was disturbing them. Needless to say that one took their own lives into their hands when they chose to sneak up on a hunter, especially one who was talking to themselves. That being said, it was something that Jade did as much as possible, stupid yes, immature yes, fun…very yes. Sides, it was Remy who was one of the most fun people she knew and she knew a lot of people. She had to wonder why he was talking to himself but considering that she did it often enough, Jade figured that it was better not to ask or even wonder about it too long. Standing with her arms crossed and her head tilted somewhat, she waited to see how he reacted and couldn’t help but laugh at the quick way he turned to fend off whoever was bothering him. Jade figured she should be glad that he liked her or she might have had a different outcome in terms of his reaction. All she could see was a flicker of surprise and irritation before it vanished and was replaced with a warm smile, one she was used to seeing when he laid eyes on her. There were few people that Jade enjoyed seeing, especially other hunters since as far as she was concerned, they were nothing but competition but Remy was different. Come on, he had the looks of a fuckin angel and the skills in the bedroom of… Nevermind, bad train of thought. One best saved for later… “Hope I didn’t scare you luv,” she commented sarcastically, figuring that even though she knew she had surprised him, he most likely wouldn’t admit it. He was too macho for that. He wouldn’t be Remy if he wasn’t that way and she happened to like him the way he was though he could show some humility at times. She almost snorted in laughter at her own thoughts. Remy…being humble. That was fuckin hilarious, like seeing Jade in a “Team Edward” shirt, that shit just don’t happen. Ever. She smirked as she walked over to him and laughed as he assumed that she was missing him. Maybe she was, maybe she wasn’t. “Surely the great Cajun hunter wouldn’t so easily be followed by lil ol me.” She teased playfully before moving to press a chaste kiss to his cheek. She and Remy had had some real good times together, nothing to be considered stable or long-lasting but they had their fun together when they were together and really, wasn’t that what was important in the long run? Jade thought it was. It was good that she had come across Remy really cause before this she had been out of her mind with boredom and when she wasn’t bored or hunting than she was stressing about the demon whom she just couldn’t seem to find no matter what she did. “You’re looking good as always, so glad to see that some nasty werewolf or vampire hasn’t offed ya yet.” Such a way with words Jade had, it was a gift or a curse, she couldn’t figure out which. Depended on the situation most likely. While not gifted with a filter for her big mouth, she at least knew those who could handle her rather off-putting demeanor and those who couldn’t, she avoided. Hence why she avoided most people. The bad mood she had been feeling since losing the Rakshasha pretty much vanished when she saw Remy. Nothing short of the voices could sour her mood now. “As for missing you, maybe I have maybe I haven’t. Me to know and you to find out.” She said with a grin as she put her ipod in her pocket. “On a hunt or just talking to yourself for no reason? Cause if you’re busy with yourself than I could just continue on my way and not bother ya.” She figured he’d enjoy her company. After all, she was Jade Alanon, everyone enjo—no wait, nevermind. Very few enjoyed her company cause they couldn’t handle the awesome that was Jade. Their loss. Pushing himself off of the bench, Remy ignored the twinge of ‘uh…should you be doing that?’ and pulled her into his arms for a hug. So what if she was a Hunter, and her kind pretty much had all kinds of psychotic problems with touching and whatnot? She was one of his favorite people, and his favorite people got hugs.
As well as other things, if they were female. MmmMMM, if she hadn’t shown up at the right time! He was all frustrated and she was standing there, all flirty and smelling like some kind of fruity concoction and gun oil…talk about your walking aphrodisiac. Would she protest if he threw her over his shoulder and made for the park bathroom?
inwardly smacking himself, he shoved those particular thoughts away as he gave her one last squeeze and stepped back. Hopefully he wasn’t coming away with some bruised jewels, but Jade didn’t seem like the type to rearrange his downstairs for being himself. If anything, she seemed to like him when he was…him.
Yeah, she was either masochistic or just really messed up in the head, but then again, who could dislike his Southern charm?
Just as she’d suspected, he scoffed at her little comment and shook his head. ”Of course you didn’t scare me, cher! I was just off thinkin’, but I knew you was there.”
Just like he new the square root of 545, but he would never admit to it. Putting his hands on his hips, he gave her a once over, a wide grin stealing across his lips. ”Damn, but you lookin’ fine yourself, Jade! Pah, no vampire or werewolf can stand up to me; I got my remedies on my side.” Patting his side bag a bit reverently, he chuckled and looked back at her.
”Nah, I finished my last hunt a while ago. I gotta check up on a patient of mine, but nothing after that. How ‘bout you, Jade? You on the trail of somethin’ dark and nasty?”

I hate living without you Dead wrong to ever doubt you But my demons lay in waiting Tempting me away Oh how I adore you Oh how I thirst for you Oh how I need you
-------- It wasn’t often that Jade found someone that she could tolerate for more than a few minutes. She was a picky person in who she chose to associate with and she knew from experience that most hunters were as crazy as she was, so she tried to avoid them. Remy wasn’t like that though, he was different. It wasn’t the mushy sort of different where she felt a connection with him and shiz, she didn’t allow herself to develop those kinds of feelings for anyone, it was too much of a distraction. He just wasn’t as much of a dick than other hunters she knew. She wasn’t normally one for being touched but she couldn’t help but smile as she was pulled into a hug. Hot and bothered was probably a good way to describe Remy at that moment and not in the sexy way so much. He had been talking on the phone prior to her approaching him and he hadn’t been too happy after he hung up which explained the bothered part of it. The hot part… Well that was Remy in spades. He was fuckin gorgeous. If he had proposed a bit of fun on the park bench or in the bathroom it was doubtful that Jade would offer much resistance. Pulling back from the hug, she couldn’t help but grin up at him. Given that Remy didn’t actually annoy Jade like others did, it wasn’t a surprise that she hadn’t nutted him like she had other guys who tried touching her in any way. Yeah she liked him for the southern horndog that he was and yes she was a masochist, she couldn’t help it. Just as she thought. Remy would never admit for even a second that he had been caught off guard or that she had scared him. How precious. Then again, he wouldn’t be Remy if he did. “Of course you did luv.” She said with a grin, knowing that he was lying. “Thinking? That’s a dangerous thing to do Remy. I don’t recommend doing it often.” He complimented her on her looks and she couldn’t help but grin widely as well. “Damn straight. Nothing like killing monsters to keep a girl in killer shape.” She laughed. “No pun intended.” Looking at the remedies he gestured to, she nodded. She remembered them because it was because of the remedies that she was still alive. Remy had saved her life at one point because of a bad injury she sustained on a hunt. It was one reason they had become so well acquainted. Jade was nothing if not grateful and had creative ways of showing it. “I pity the werewolf that tangles with you.” She was serious too, Remy was a damn good hunter. It was nice though, normally Jade hated being around other hunters cause most were a bunch of pretentious children who were always in competition. Why else would they have an academy for hunters? Hunting wasn’t a job, it was a life choice, something born in you. “Me?” She shrugged nonchalantly. “Aren’t I always hunting something?” It was true. Jade was a hunter that never stopped. There was a reason of course, the demon who had possession of her father. She was always hunting him. Always would till she found the fucker and sent him back to hell where he belonged and than buried her father. “I was out here hunting a Rakshasa but the fucker got away.” She wasn’t proud of that fact either. She was a perfectionist and hated letting anyone get away. “For now anyway. I will find him.” She was determined but the look of annoyance faded as she looked back at Remy. “Funny, I was on the trail of something dark and nasty and stumbled across someone hot and sexy with a slight twist of nasty.” Brushing a strand of hair from her face, she grinned. “Just my luck.” The hunt wasn’t over. Not yet. It wouldn’t be over till she found the Rakshasa and she already knew where it was staying. She just had to wait it out. Leaning up on her tip toes, she moved to press a chaste kiss on his cheek. “Want to help me hunt or we could have fun in a different way.” Tags; Remy Lyrics; Comatose - Skillet Word Count; 713 Outfit; Outfit Comments; None

Mmm, but he did love how this girl felt in his arms. Call him a hopeless romantic, but it always tickled him in all the right places when the hard, seemingly unobtainable girl didn’t mind him barging into her personal space. From rumor and personal experience, Remy knew how much of a tough exterior Jade had; from that caustic tongue to the mean right hook she could throw on a moment’s notice. She was like every other huntress he’d had a chance to meet over the years, and knew the cold cloak she wore around herself was means of protection. He couldn’t help but feel really honored that she’d let him worm his way through those defenses into some kind of ‘tolterable’ territory. It made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Not to mention uncomfortable in all the wrong places. Just trust one of his favorite hunters to show up when he needed a distraction from his family. Would she have minded if he pushed her back on the bench and got them both arrested for public indecency? Probably not, but the good ‘ol boy inside him couldn’t help but notice the school kids running around. Damn.
Pulling back after giving her a hearty squeeze that lasted a tad too long, he couldn’t help but laugh at her comment. Yes, there was the Jade he knew and lusted after.
”You wound me, mon petit! To joke about my intelligence…who was it who made you that nice little remedy for those claw marks the last time we met? Bah, you are a bad woman, Jade. Don’t make me have to take you over my knee.”
Shaking his finger at her teasingly, he couldn’t help but grin. Aside from the fact her body made him happy in all kinds of dirty ways, he always loved the easy banter he had with her. Most people didn’t understand his sense of humor; thinking him either too crass, or too strange. And deiu, forbid him from ever approaching any of the married ones! One would think that he’d be baring himself in front of their wives, from how they acted around him.
Was it HIS fault that he’d been conned by a woman who claimed to be single? Bah. It wasn’t his problem that women lusted after him so…
Swatting at the compliment, he just shook his head with a sigh. ”I’d rather just treat wounds, eh? I think I’m getting to my breaking point with this life. It’s too damn…depressing.” With a dramatic shiver, he went back over to his things on the bench and hefted them up, enjoying the familiar weight on his shoulders. He had a distant look in his eyes, but when she went and complimented his ‘sexy’ features, he went right back into his usual happy stance.
Making a show of puffing out his chest, he gave her a wink and returned the kiss on her cheek, and slipped an arm around her waist, propelling her forward. ”You know exactly how to say hello to a man, petit. Is why I like you so much. Now, how about we find somewhere comfortable to sit and you can tell me about this nasty thing? Maybe I can make this my last hunt. We shall see.”

I hate living without you Dead wrong to ever doubt you But my demons lay in waiting Tempting me away Oh how I adore you Oh how I thirst for you Oh how I need you
-------- It was always good to see Remy again. He was one of the few people that she could just be herself around and she really appreciated that. The fact that he was dead sexy was an added bonus. That didn’t mean she let her guards down though, not even around him. She was a closely guarded chick but not for the reasons most people would think. It wasn’t to guard her heart; well not in terms of love cause Jade didn’t believe in the whole ‘love’ thing. It was to protect herself and others from the demon that sought to torment her at every twist and turn. So it was more for the benefit of others that she keep up the bravado and her shields. That being said, she did enjoy being with Remy when they met up, they were a lot alike and unlike others Jade met, he actually knew what it was like to hunt because he was a hunter as well. That definitely helped because it meant she didn’t have to skate around certain subjects so that she doesn’t look insane. Well…most subjects anyway. If only she could have read his mind… She was in the mood for a considerable distraction as well, something to get her mind off the Rakshasa that had escaped her grasp or the demon that was constantly on her mind 24/7. Allowing his arms to linger around her smaller frame, she drew back and grinned. He was the sort that she could actually joke with and he didn’t get all cranky either. He could take a joke. He had a wit that was like Jade’s. She couldn’t help but laugh as he pretended to be wounded and went on to remind her of the last time they had met. “How can I forget,” she said with a playful smile. “Wasn’t it you who happened to put claw marks on my back that very night?” It was true enough, not that she was actually complaining. “Someone was being very counter-productive.” Over his knee? “Don’t make promises if you don’t intend to keep them.” She stood on her tiptoes and playfully nipped at his nose and took a step back. God, he was so much fun to be around. He almost made her forget that she had completely crapped out in her hunt for the Rakshasa. Almost… Every so often she’d look around just in case. One never knew where it would be and she didn’t want to die because she was too busy flirting with Remy. That would just be embarrassing. It was then she realized that Remy’s mood was a bit heavy which wasn’t like him at all. It was rare that he let her see when he was down. Breaking point being a hunter? That was too bad though she could relate to a certain degree. She couldn’t quit like he could though, not until the demon was dead and her father either released or at least laid to rest. She couldn’t. He was right though, this life was all about death and dying, killing things that would try to kill innocent people or them. It wasn’t a life that many could take for every long. Jade was curious as to how her father had been able to handle it as long as he had. Not that she could ask him of course. Thankfully her ‘sexy’ comment brought back that smile that she adored so much. She squeaked in slight surprise as he pulled her forward, drawing her close to him. “What can I say, It’s part of my charm.” He mentioned finding a place to sit which wasn’t hard since there was plenty of benches around. Leaning on her toes, she brushed her lips against his teasingly before escaping his arms and heading over to one of the benches. Once she was sitting and he joined her, she chose to get back to the topic that Remy brought up before the ‘sexy’ comment. His retiring from hunting. “I won’t lie but I won’t argue with ya either, this life ain’t for everyone. At least you have something to fall back on.” Treating wounds was definitely a lucrative business since there were so many hunters that needed alternative ways of healing aside from hospitals. “Though I gotta ask you a favor in regards to your ‘last’ hunt.” If there was anyone she’d ask to help her against the demon using her father as a meat suit, it would be Remy.
