The devil was all in the details.
Those were the only thoughts in AJ's head as she made her way into the Seven Sins Casino. Dressed in black leather pants, a crimson vest and boots that made her seem a few inches taller than her actually 5'3" stance, the former huntress turned she-wolf attempted to mingle with the Friday night crowd but there was nothing but business in her demeanor. Her dark eyes constantly moved over the scattered workers and patrons as she took in important things like security, hired guns and defensibility of the place.
Having fought her way out of the clutchs of one vile were, she wasn't to keen on landing in another fire of any kind. All she wanted was to find her mate and get the fuck out of there. She didn't like were all this was leading and the sooner they got the hell out of dodge.. The more relieved she'd be.
Something was up and it wasn't only her hackles.
After freeing herself and three other members of Gabe's little pack, AJ had put everything she had into tracing her mate. When the path lead back to the Seven Sins, the hunter in her had come alert. The Seven Sins Casino was a known den of a notorious White Eyed Demon who went by the name of Stolas. More than one hunter had tried to take the hell spawn down but the wily old nemesis had managed to avoid every trap set for him. Hell, more than one had even tried to summon him with no luck... give substance to the idea that his true name might not even be Stolas. All in all the demon was an enigma. He like to sit in his web like a treacherous spider and draw him unsuspecting prey like lambs to slaughter.
But Gabe was no fool and he was no ones idea of easy prey. Which gave rise to the question of the hour. What the hell did the demon want with a werewolf?
Shaking her head to clear out thoughts that didn't belong in the moment, AJ began to work her way through the casino to the back VIP level. She was slightly surprised when she was only stopped once but made it to the employee area with no issues. With a careful glance around, she slid a key card through the lock that she'd lifted from a passing waitress and slipped inside. On the other side of the door was a long hall that lead in two directions.
Following her instincts, she went left until it started to slop down towards another level. Pulling out her weapon, she eased herself down the ramp and checked the corner before descending it too. Keeping her feet moving, she paused here and there to check corners and rooms but they were all empty.
Frowning, she continued on until she found herself in almost total darkness and only her were sight gave her any vision at all. She'd just decided to turn around and head back the way she came when every hair on the back of her neck rose and she knew she was no longer alone. There was only a brief shift in the air before lights came blaring on and she stood facing three huge men.
"Fuck a Duck" she swore to herself even as she tried to shield her eyes from the suddenly bright light. As she tried to adjust, one of the men stepped forward and AJ caught an almost unholy evil light to his eye before he spoke.
"Well, well... Lookie at what we have here, boys?? A little shewolf come to play. " he drawled out, crossing his arms over his chest.
"What do you think, guys?? Should we let her?? See if she can run with the big dogs? Seems a waste of a good bitch but... I'd hate to disappoint her after shes come all this way!"As the words flowed out, AJ felt her spine stiffen. Before he'd finished, it was no longer alarm that skittered down her spine but a fine, icy rage. Distain radiated in her expression even as she leveled the weapon at him.
"I came all this way for my mate and I'm not leaving until I get him, asshole." she snarled at him even as she moved to keep her back to the wall.
"As far as play games? I don't do that sort of thing.. I simply kill anything that gets in the way between me and what I want."Her response seemed to amuse them man for some reason and AJ tightened her finger over the trigger reflexively. As the shot rang out and a silver bullet capped him in the knee, the man when down in a cussing pile of agony. One of the others tried to move forward but she swiftly swung the gun to point directly at his chest.
"I wouldnt unless you feel really damned lucky!"Suddenly, from out of nowhere, the sound of clapping rang out. Shifting her focus, AJ attempted to turn the weapon on the new threat but before she could even react... She found herself flying through the air and bashing into the opposite wall. Her gun went flying and she crumpled to a heap on the ground. When she could finally look up, her heart felt as if it seized in her chest.
Before her stood the one man she really REALLY had wanted to avoid in this escape plan.
It was Stolas himself and he looked... Amused? What the fuck?
Before she could register anything else, the demon leaned down and offered her a hand. Blinking rapidly, she hesitantly laid her own in his knowing she had no choice. The power she felt radiating off of him was immeasurable and scary as hell.
"Forgive me, my dear... I"m afraid I couldn't let you shoot up any more of my men or put any holes into my suit. Not the most polite way to say hello but I'm sure you understand since you were holding a gun. Please accept my apology and allow me to welcome you to my little underground fight club. You've arrived just in the nick of time for the first fight."Blinking, AJ frowned and then tried to step away only to have the demon grip her hand tighter. His expression was light but there was a hardness to her eyes that told her the truth. She was in trouble. BIG trouble and the kind that not even a paddle was going to save her from.
"Since you seem to willing to fight, I'm sure you wont mind a front row seat to the event. In fact... its so front row, you get to actually work off some of that aggression I see in your aura."Then, before she could even decipher those words, a fist came up and darkness descend upon her. The last thing she was aware of thinking was "We are so screwed".
