A Night By The Lake

[Xhane]

It was a beautiful night just outside of Beaumont, Texas. The sky is clear of any cloud and the stars shine brightly. The temperature is warm, but not too hot and there’s a slight wind blowing making it that much more comfortable out. By the lake, the Winchester residence can be seen clearly. At a little after nine o’clock at night a few lights shine through the windows.

Quiet and serene is the scene on this night. But it doesn’t appear that this will last. From down the road are three silhouettes walking. The four men aren’t men at all though. All three are demons looking to make a name for themselves. A name as the demons who sealed Ryder Winchester’s deal…and the demons to kill two Winchesters.

The four begin to spread out as they get just a couple yards from the house. A frontal assault could be suicide, so they plan to attack from all sides. He may be one Winchester, but they know they shouldn’t underestimate him. One nods to the other and right as they are about to advance their attack suddenly the wind picks up harsh and rapidly. One of the demons just happens to turn around and notices another figure behind them.

Then the figures eyes go yellow as they glow slightly. ”Ah shit, it’s him!”[/color] With that statement from the demon who noticed the figure they all turn around and see Xhane. Xhane is a one of a kind. He is where heaven meets hell. Part angel and part yellow eyed demon.

Xhane has been hunted by both sects for a long time now and to no avail. These demons know that he’s killed many of their kind and react in anger. All four demons’ eyes turn black before they advance upon Xhane. The only light out front of the Winchester home is the moonlight from above. Odd markings a paler complexion can be seen on Xhane’s face, but the marking appear to be shadows due to the illumination.

The first time charges Xhane as he takes a step backward. Both hands go into his trench coat and out come two double barreled sawed off shotguns. He knows full well these won’t kill the demons inside, but that’s never stopped him before. The demon swings at Xhane with a right, but he takes a step to the side and aims at the demon’s ribs firing one of his shotguns. The demon yells out in pain.

The next comes directly after and without hesitation Xhane sidesteps this demon like the last, but this time fires the same shotgun at the back of it’s skull point blank. With that the human host’s body’s mouth opens and flees as a cloud of black smoke escapes. The dead human body slumps to the ground in a heap as Xhane quickly spins around ready for more. The third comes at him and is smarter about his attack. Calculated, cautious strikes come from the third. Xhane retreats backward as the shots come in.

Finally seeing an opening between punches Xhane shoots forward with a straight ahead kick to the demon’s chest, sending it to the ground. Just then he notices the first demon lunging at him. Last second he steps backward, letting the demon face plant the ground. Xhane then turns to the fourth demon who hasn’t advanced at all and is just standing there…looking scared.
Xhane laughs as he drops his empty shotgun. ”Boo!”[/color] And with that black smoke comes barreling out of the human hosts mouth quickly as the body slumps to the ground still breathing. He shakes his head, but as he turns around gets taken down by the first demon, releasing his fully loaded shotgun which lands near the porch steps. Winding up on the side of the house Xhane struggles against the demon on the ground. The demon gets in a single right across his face. Xhane’s eyes glow yellow once again and Xhane places a single boot in it’s chest, flinging it behind him.

As Xhane nips up to his feet he watches the demon’s body bounce off of the side of the Winchester home. Xhane’s eyes go wide as he realizes what just happened. Suddenly he sees shadows moving within the house. ”Damn it…”[/color] whispers Xhane as the demon who face planted the ground comes back into the mix. He knows who’s coming and wants these two, and himself gone before such a meeting occurs. The demon running at Xhane comes at him with a spinning back kick.

He catches the demon’s leg and with his elbow breaks it at the knee with growl. ”They aren’t suppose to know I’m here you son of a,”[/color] The demon interrupts Xhane with a showing of a knife as it swings toward Xhane’s face. He barely dodges by ducking underneath and ducks back behind the demon. As he spins around Xhane has a small bottle from his trench and flips the lid off. The demon turns around and gets a face full of holy water.

Just then though Xhane’s fears are realized. The front door to the Winchester’s home opens…

[Ryder James Winchester]

Ryder wasn’t sure what time it was. He had crawled in bed at half past witching hour, tossed and turned for at least an hour after that, finally throwing a pillow over the alarm clock so he’d stop checking it somewhere around 2 am.
The young hunter had been exhausted, so why was he laid there now, wide awake and staring at the ceiling, counting the drip-drops from the faucet in the bathroom? Inwardly Ryder knew the answer. As his pregnant wife lay there softly snoring beside him, the man was trying to figure out what the hell he was going to do about the elephant in the room.

The contract for his soul was still hanging out there, and only God, the Devil and whatever demon held it knew exactly when payment would come due. It horrified the young man that any day now, at any given moment those damn hell hounds would appear to rip him limb from limb. God forbid that actually come to pass, Ryder prayed it wasn’t in front of Simone of any of his family for that matter. If they weren’t able to forfeit the deal, the young man just hoped he could spare his loved ones the gory nightmares.

Fucking nightmares.

They were one of the reasons Ryder hadn’t been sleeping more than a few hours a night- if that.
Every time he closed his eyes and everything was quiet he imagined those tearing fangs, Simi’s blue eyes filled with horror, and heaven help him; what he imagined Hell looked like.
So there it was. The reason why as exhausted as he was sleep would not claim him tonight.

Maybe it was a godsend however, for beyond the sound of his mate’s soft breath and the pitter-patter of that drippy tap he heard a scuffle somewhere outside. Instinct immediately kicked in. If it was the hell hounds Ryder was no about to let them desecrate the sanctity of his home. Their home.
Throwing his legs over the mattress the hunter grabbed his jeans from their home on the floor and pulled them on as he made his way swiftly downstairs.
From a closet in the hall the middle Winchester retrieved a gun, tucking it into the back waistband of his jeans before grabbing a NERF Super Soaker filled with holy water.
Yeah, he looked like some over grown little boy going to play war but if it was demons the son-of-a-bitches weren’t gon’ know what hit them.

He burst through the front door to see the one-sided mêlée happening right out in front lawn. And by one sided, he didn’t mean that the male with the shotgun was the side getting downed. More appropriately it was the side of the guy’s fist doing all the real damage to the soul-suckers.
A shift on the damp ground to his right made Ryder turn the soaker on full blast before even looking there, and just as the demon hit the ground clawing his eyes and wailing, Ryder slid his revolver out from his waist and put one in the fucker’s head and then muttered a Latin chant, expelling the demon from its host. Those bullets had been specially made by his own hands and were engraved with an anti-possession charm.

Winded for none other reason besides sheer shock, Ryder turned the revolver on the long haired male and narrowed his eyes against the pale glow of moon haloing the stranger like an aura.
“Who the fuck are you?! What the fuck are you doing at my house?!”

Xhane merely stops and watches the demon go down from the face full of squirt gun and then get expunged from its host. He then watched the revolver get turned on him. Xhane raises an eyebrow at the idea of the gun doing more than pissing him off. But his fears were realized. After all of these years of being careful, cautious…his presence had finally be outted to a Winchester.

It was a simple case he slipped up, became careless. He’d been watching the Winchesters from the shadows for a few generations now and hadn’t been so stupid. He shouldn’t have gotten so close. But this was happening now and wasn’t exactly time to reflect. Yeah, he could lie to Ryder about who he was and why he was there...but what would be the point to that? Ryder just watched him take on four demons alone, not likely he could be fooled into thinking he was a mere hunter.

Four demons…Right about then Xhane spins around and catches the fourth and last demon standing in mid leap at his back, bringing him up and over and slamming him hard into the grassy ground beneath him. As the demon’s host body collides with the ground a loud cracking bone sound is clearly heard. Xhane places his hand on the demon’s forehead and begins to exercise the demon, but it fleas from the host in a cloud of black smoke before he can finish.


With a sigh Xhane returns to his feet and returns to his stare down with Ryder. The gun still drawn on him and not hesistating. He looks down for a moment before looking back to Ryder taking a deep breath and slowly exhaling. ”My name’s Xhane”[/color] With that said Xhane slowly walks over and retrieves the short barreled shotgun that had been knocked from his grasp. He replaces it back in his trench coat before turning his head back to Ryder, pissed at himself that he’s even having this conversation.

”As to “what” I am, that could take some time to explain…Ryder Winchester.”[/color] He figures get a few cards out on the table. Most importantly, that he knows who Ryder is. Not to mention he knows who all the Winchesters are, but that might be a tad much on the gun totting, stressed looking, sleep deprived hunter at the moment. Xhane slowly heads for the empty gun he dropped a few feet back and replaces it in it’s place in his coat.

Still watching Ryder carefully if for nothing else he just doesn’t want to feel the pain of a bullet at the moment. He makes his way back up toward Ryder as he looks around the grounds as if looking for something. ”None of them made it inside, right? Your wife is safe?”[/color] A sudden look of concern crosses Xhane’s face as he asks. His main reason for being there were the unborn offspring of Ryder. Xhane knows of Ryder’s fate and knows they probably wouldn’t have been coming for him. Why send the soliders when you can send the dogs?

He stops a few feet from Ryder and with a slight tilting and turning of his head his face returns to normal, appearing human. Xhane holds his hands out, in an attempt to show him he means no harm. ”I mean you no harm Winchester, but if it’ll make you feel better pull the damn trigger. I won’t have to do anything to you. All I’ll have to do is merely wait for “them” to come for you.”[/color] He realizes he just extended how much information he knows about Ryder, and it’s surely to raise more questions. Sometimes he just can’t help it though. The demon aspect within Xhane taunts and pushes him to play mind games and this was one of the times he obliged.

[Ryder James Winchester]

The name meant shit to Ryder. All he knew was that this son-of-a-bitch and a bunch of limp demons were trespassing on what was supposed to be his safe haven. That pissed him the hell off. He’d made damn sure to cover the paper trail leading to the sale of his house; had learned from the very best how to use aliases not only to evade the tax man but also to keep your whereabouts. So how in the -fuck- had these assholes found him? And how the -fuck- did this stranger know his name?! And that he had a wife?!

Ryder narrowed his stormy eyes on the trespasser as the mention of Simi escaped his lips. He’d been watching the stranger gather up an arsenal of weapons and suddenly the fine hairs on the back of his neck rose and his fierce protectiveness kicked in. Especially since the guy had all just admitted he was no human.
A hand was extended towards him and the young Winchester merely creased his brow, cocking the gun as if to warn the stranger not to take another step unless he wanted a sixth hole in his head.

“I don’t know you.” The hunter drawled out; wincing after Xhane dared him to shoot and then went on to speak about a ‘them’ that would come for them. “I don’t fucking know you so how the fuck do you know me?”

He ignored the extended palm and stepped backwards, sucking in air through his nose as he willed his hand to stopped shaking. “What do you know about them?” With this he gesture with the nod of his head to the bodies scattered about the yard.
The middle Winchester had to assume the ‘them’ Xhane had suggested was the police, and not the hell hounds or the angels, or even more demons. He didn’t know this guy from Adam so how the hell would he be privy to Ryder’s deal?

[Xhane]

Xhane looked down toward his hand as he drew it back with a sigh. He didn't know how to deal with people. Hell, he barely knew how to interact with Jeb, but he still managed to make it work. He continued to watch the gun Ryder was wielding. He just has a feeling he's going to wind up getting shot.

"What I know about "them"...isn't important right now."[/color] Xhane says obviously not happy about this entire encounter. He looks to the gun again. "you mind putting that thing down? I'm one of the good guys...least as far as your family's concerned."[/color] Xhane knew this was causing more questions and more uncertainty within Ryder. He sighs again and rubs the back of his neck.

He nods with almost a look of giving up. "Well since you've caught me, I guess you deserve to know."[/color] Xhane slowly reaches into his trench coat and pulls out a cigarette and zippo. He flips open the lid and lights the cigarette, peering through the flames ever watchful of Ryder's actions. He replaces everything back in his trench and takes a long drag before exhaling the smoke off into the air. "I'm an angel...sorta. Long story on that one."[/color]

Xhane runs a hand through his hair as he takes another drag trying to collect his thoughts and decide if this is really what he wants to do. "I was charged a long time ago with the job to watch your family line and protect them. Screwed part was I was told to stay out of the way of major events occuring. You know, the ones where people actually wound up dead and such?"[/color] states Xhane as he shakes his head. "I guess you could say I'm a guardian angel of sorts. If you could call me that with all of the pain I've been forced to allow happen to your family."[/color]

Xhane takes another drag from his cigarette and exhales the smoke almost looking sympathetic of what his family's gone through. "The demons coming here tonight weren't after you."[/color] He glances toward the house and then back to Ryder. "I'd been tracking them for a while. How they found you, don't ask me. I have no idea. I'd hoped they wouldn't because I never planned to get this close to any of you."[/color]

He flicks the end of his cigarette, just staring off into the bright orange cherry for a moment. "As to how I found you, it's just a thing. I can feel where someone of Winchester lineage is. Doesn't mean I know the location exactly. Think of it as a half ass GPS system."[/color] Xhane takes a drag from his cigarette. "So if you still wanna shoot me, your call. But believe it or not Winchester...I'm here to help."[/color] With that Xhane takes another drag from his cigarette, still with that haunting feeling he's about to get shot.
