Tick tock hear the clock countdown Wish the minute hand could be rewound So much to do and so much I need to say Will tomorrow be too late Feel the moment slip into the past Like sand through an hourglass In the madness I guess I just forget To do all the things I said
--------- Um yeah... This really wasn't Jade's scene. Give Jade any bar in the country and Jade would be in her element, be totally comfortable in her skin and not show an ounce of uncertainty. But this. This just wasn't Jade. The sound of screaming caught her attention, causing her to tense but it wasn't the 'omg I'm gonna die' scream but rather the teenage 'omg I so will die without that jacket' scream. Totally different but given that Jade was at the mall, it wasn't a surprise to hear those kind of screams and squeals. It wasn't like Jade never went shopping because she did, she just didn't do it all that often for this very reason. She wasn't into long shopping trips. Jade was the sort that went into a store knowing exactly what she wanted and bought it, in and out within ten minutes if even that. She was a total guy when it came to shopping and shoes... oh god no. So yeah, shopping was a necessity to Jade, not a pleasure and yet here she was and it wasn't because she had just suddenly decided to try the girly side of life, she was here to meet a friend. Friend... God that word still sounded funny in her head and somewhat wrong as well. She had promised herself that she wouldn't do the whole 'friend' thing because that meant giving the demon more targets and that wasn't what Jade wanted at all. She didn't want anyone else being her fault but it seemed that Diana was rather adamant in wanting to be Jade's friend and it seemed Jade was no match against the bossy little witch. She was small but she was a spitfire. It wasn't just Diana either, there was Gavin as well though what exactly he was she wasn't sure. She didn't like to think of it either. It was too confusing and Jade didn't handle confusing all that well. Instead she chose to focus on the fact that she had a day of girly girl bonding to do with Diana which would either be fun or complete and total torture, it was hard to say since Jade was the sort that was almost always on edge and hated the thought of anyone touching her for those weird pedicures or manicures. She had never had one of either in her life and wasn't sure if she'd want one, she chewed on her fingernails after all... Fuckin hell... Give Jade a dark haunted or vampire-infested forest over this place any day. At least then she'd have a better chance of surviving with her dignity intact. Oh well, this was her chance to actually have a semi-normal day with her friend Diana who was most likely way better at this shit than Jade ever would be. The food court was busy since it was noon and most people had stopped to get something to eat. Jade had texted Diana to let her know that she was waiting in the food court and did just that, waited. She felt naked really. Given the amount of security this mall had, Jade couldn't really carry her gun around and she hated that. Of course she still had a dagger in her left boot made of pure silver and another dagger of iron. One could never be too careful after all. Jade looked normal, albeit tense but she looked like anyone else in the bustling mall but she wasn't like them. Oh well, maybe for one day she would try to be normal. What's the harm in that? Shopping.
This was totally Diana’s scene. Since technically, Diana was not old enough to be hitting up any bars or anything, the next best thing was shopping. Though, in her honest opinion, even if she was of age, she’d hardly think a bar scene was her thing anyway. First of all, she didn’t drink all that much. Her taste in beverages was quite specific and people didn’t quite seem to get that. Also swooning drunken woman, rowdy men who wanted a little something and all in a tight small cramped room that would most likely be sweaty and dirty. Yea, give Diana the pretty stuff and some greens and she could have herself a blast. A shopping mall full of teens in raving want was no different from the bar and both took a certain skill to handle. Jade had her territory and Diana had hers. It just so happened that Jade was not treading in Diana’s and she was sure to show her a good time, or at the very least try. No girl should go without experiencing the full joys of shopping.
Hours of endless roaming about the mall because that was how Diana did it. She had to go through everything because, sure you could go to the mall wanting a specific item but you never knew if there would be a discovery of something that might solve all the issues of your wardrobe. Diana was still looking for that one item and she continued to shop for that reason. Also, on the second hand, it was good exorcise. All that walking was burning calories: the lifting of bags, trying on clothes- most people didn’t realize how exhausting it could be. There were many benefits of shopping, some just had to look harder to find them.
And as little as Jade wanted to admit it she was a shopper too. Perhaps not as thorough as Diana but Jade’s clothes didn’t appear out of nowhere. She had to go out and buy them from somewhere whether it be from Armani Exchange, the Gap, Spencer’s, or K-Mart. She’d try to make the transition as easy as possible. And maybe the pedicures and manicures could be left for trip two.
Jade was an interesting character to say the least. Diana was drawn to her for some reason. The aspiring actress got along with a lot of people but with Jade, she felt quite comfortable with. Maybe it was because they knew each other’s secrets and there wasn’t much she had to hide from her. She could be herself openly. It was the same with Gavin. And both people fulfilled apart of her life in different ways. Life was slowly starting to look up. For a while there, she almost thought about leaving to go back to live with her mom. Hassled by a demon, broken heart from Oregon, trauma with Eddie, feeling as though she was losing her best friend, and a peculiar but creepy man who kept appearing out of the blue with strange things. There was only so much a girl could take all at once but now things were settling and she was slowly feeling accepted.
Getting out of her dad’s car since she didn’t drive, Diana checked her phone messages again. Grinning, she headed straight to the food court with a bounce in her step. She was excited about this little outing even if Jade was skeptical. There really wasn’t anything to fear in the mall. Stretching her neck to see over some people, she finally spotted the dark brunette. In her opinion, Jade was gorgeous, she just had to play up her goods and she’d be knocking men dead right and left, even maybe a few supernaturals. It was a hope.
Coming up next to her, Diana bumped her own shoulder into Jade’s lightly and playfully. “HEY! Did you wait long? Sorry, the old man was taking his sweet old time. Are you hungry or anything?” shooting a glance over her shoulder and around to see all the food places and the aroma hitting her nose. “We could always come back around here if you need,” Diana bounced with excitement, tugging on Jade’s hand.
