Elle tripped over the long, heavy hem of the dress, spitting out a curse that wasn’t really a bad word before continuing on the dimly lit path to where Curran was waiting for her.
Since the owner of the diner where she worked had taken an unexpected month long sabbatical, the willowy blonde and the rest of her co-workers had been thoroughly enjoying the place, had even started dressing up for their shifts to celebrate the coming holiday. So what if Halloween was supposed to be for kids. They were all having a little bit of childish fun and feeling almost like family.
Elle hadn’t seen Curran in a couple of days due to some double shifts, so tonight they had decided to meet up after work. It really didn’t matter to the leggy blonde how ridiculous she might look in her frilly princess costume and upswept hair; she was just as giddy as a school girl to see him.
Curran probably wouldn’t mind anyway. Most likely he would be wearing his fur tonight…as he had been increasing more and more often in the past few months or so. Not that Elle was bothered by his canine form. She loved him in any form; loved his downy fur, the glow of his canine eyes, his paws as large as saucers. Elle loved playing and chasing with him, felt liberated just from the vibrant energy he exuded while wearing the animal form.
Though…sometimes she missed seeing the boy. Those big playful blue eyes, the way he would seem to bounce instead of walk, his hands shoved into the pockets of his blue jeans. When he wore his wolf form she felt safe cuddled against his big body and wrapped in his coat; but she felt protected wrapped in his human arms too.
Elle didn’t know much about Loup Giroux and so she had assumed this was a phase they all went through at some point or another. It was normal that his skin felt too tight when he had on his human body and that where as he’d once been a devout vegetarian he was craving meat now almost every day. It was typical for a young shifter…right?
The lithe female didn’t know, but she trusted her boyfriend when he told her it was alright. And so here she was, wandering through the forest toward their favorite summertime skinny dipping spot with only a lantern and the soft illumination of the fading sun to light her way. She was clumsy in the heels too. Elle had borrowed the peach pumps and they were a size too big.
“Curran?!”She called out, wondering if she had gotten here before him. During the day the woodland was peaceful and nonthreatening, but in the fading glow of twilight it was different; unfamiliar.
