When a person’s skin is made sensitive by the world around it, the situations its endured and or what it’s been through, it’s referred to as being environmentally sensitized. You could say the same of Thaila Papillion. The pretty, young blonde was meek, shy and quiet, but it wasn’t natural or of her own choice. She had the freedom to actually leave the house for the first time since she was nine, but because she’d never had that sort of freedom, she found herself becoming a self made prisoner in the James household. Or at least she’d attempted too. One of Lexi’s nieces, a girl only five years Thaila’s elder, had popped in on the way to take her daughter to a child’s book reading at the library near Lexi’s place and some how managed to convince Thaila to take a trip with them down to the library. Thaila could honestly say she wasn’t keen on the idea… until Tammy mentioned the fact there would be more books there than in Simi’s personal library. Thaila’s eyes grew so wide, they practically bugged out of her head and she was in Tammy’s passenger seat quicker than you could say Shakespeare. She liked Tammy. She was nice and funny, kind of dorky but Thai liked that too. They’d driven to the library, singing classic disney movie songs with the two year old in the back. Or at least attempting to. At the very least gurgling. Once they’d arrived, Tammy had headed towards the kids sexy where a giant frog called Roger Ribbit was talking to a crowd of young children and Tammy let Eden down to go play with them. The heavily pregnant brunette then told Thaila, just to go have a look around and come back when she was done. Thaila had nodded gently and sloped off across the library.
The masses of books were to Thaila, as a candy store was to a child, sheer excitement and awe inducing. She walked through the rows, letting her index finger run against the spines of the many books she passed. She didn’t know where to start or where to begin. There were so many titles she recognised and so many she didn’t. That was when she spotted it. A book with a title that did nothing but call to her. A book with the work vampire in large writing across the spine. Reaching her arm up, the young girl found herself wondering why they made the top shelf so stupidly high. Standing at five foot seven, Thaila wasn’t short, but still found herself jumping in an attempt to get it. After a few jumps, Thaila looked around, only noticing a couple of people before placing a foot on the lower shelf and making an attempt to climb the book case. As she did so, the case began to lean and books tumble out of it. The extra speed and strength she had made it possible for Thaila to jump down and catch the collection of shelves before they not only sent all their books flying but sent the other shelves tumbling like dominoes. Her flashes fluttered like a butterflies wings as she looked to the other people around her to make sure they’d stayed safe from the tumbling books before sheepishly letting out an “I’m very sorry.” Her voice melting through the air like sugar in hot water. The teeny tiny sixteen year old didn’t look capable of the strength she possessed, but she certainly didn’t look heavy enough to tip the case over either.

you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Curran roared up the hill to the little house and parked his bike next to the front door, sitting up and letting the large but lithe looking machine rest against his leg whilst he lifted his sunglasses onto his head, waiting for Prim. Yes, he knew it was the middle of the winter, no he didn’t care. He was warm, with his superheated body temperature anyway, and besides, the aviator shades helped keep the glare from affecting his driving – the last thing he need was to go careering off into a ditch and emerge with no scratches.... it started people asking far too many questions.
Whilst he waited, Curran slipped his phone from his pocket. Three text messages, One from Prim, saying she’d be five minutes, another from Simi, he did he want to get coffee later? Sure he text back, but it was the last one that made the young man grin the most. One from Elle, no Doubt, as his father would say when they were sat at home, and sure enough he could practically hear her voice as he read the words. Christmas had been a success... Elle hadn’t freaked out when she found out what he was that her dreams were based on reality and not fantasy. He was still grinning as he tapped out his reply, promising to meet her at the diner once her shift ended that night. That of course, he thought as he slipped the sleek plastic phone back into his pocket, was why he was here.
Prim had rung him the night before, asking for a lift to the library. Well, seeing as he’d been putting off going there himself he didn’t see why not, and had drove over that morning to do just that. She needed medical textbooks, he needed some lore on demons – it all worked out. Though why she wouldn’t just walk was beyond him...
”Hey Lazy bones, put this on.”He grinned as he tossed a helmet in Prims direction as she finally descended the stairs. He waited until she had pulled the helmet over her head and climbed onto the bike behind him before he let his second taunt fly. ”Hey, we’re only going to the library. Not a fashion show.” he smirked as he pulled the bike out of the Orphanage grounds, and out into the traffic.
Prim hung on for dear life... she had almost forgotten that Curran drove like a madman.... almost, and the way he whipped past these cars she was pretty sure the man had a death wish. Or at least something mildly similar. He may have liked the adrenaline rush, but Prim squeezed her eyes shut and clung to his waist so tight that, at one point, she thought she might have successfully chopped him in half. She was pretty sure that if that had happened, Elle would kill her (oh yes, she knew all about Elle) and she didn’t exactly need a angry blonde on her case along with her current Demon problems.
It seemed that since she found out about the supernatural, they didn’t want to leave her alone.
It didn’t take long at least for them to reach the Library – the reason why she didn’t walk becoming evident in that that library she needed was not the closer of the two in the city. Still, half an hour of clinging and screaming and squeezing her eyes shut, and they were pulling into the car park, safe and sound... As Curran remarked when he switched off the engine. She hit him in the shoulder and clambered from the bike, handing him his helmet back pulling her hair back into her hat, like it should be.
They parted ways at the front of the library however, Prim running off to the medical section whilst he disappeared to god knows where. The two had been friends a little over a year, since he had come up to New York on business with his mother, but she still knew very little about him.
It didn’t take her long to find the books she needed... though she was more than mildly surprised when the shelf she was getting pulling her book from either decided it didn’t like her very much and tried to back away, or someone on the other side had managed to tip it. Chewing on the side of her lip, prim ventured around and found a blonde girl holding a book about vampires and looking a little sheepish. Certainly small in comparison, and perhaps feeling a little braver than normal, Prim smiled.
”Vampires huh? One of the girls I live with is in love with the idea of them.” She smiled, trying to make small talk. Prim was a naturally friendly person... and some of the other people amongst the shelves were casting this other girl funny looks – she was simply trying to be nice.

Tipping the bookcase in an attempt to get a book wasn’t exactly what Thaila had planned on doing, and she certainly hadn’t expected to have nearly killed someone in the process. Despite her severe lack of a beating heart, Thaila’s cheeks didn’t waste any time in turning bright red. Thai knew her first instinct should have been to draw less attention to herself, but the little blonde simply found herself pulling her curls over one shoulder. Her attention was instantly stolen, however, by the small voice who’s words made the sixteen year old want to run and hide. Pulling the book into her chest, Thaila’s arms wrapped around the book and she offered up a smile to the feel blonde. “I guess you could say my family is… interested in them…” The smile that spread across her face, pushed her rosy cheeks up wards with such pressure they began to dimple. Suddenly thinking, Thaila turned and looked around at the other books in the aisle. She muttered an “Oops.” under her breathe and looked to Prim. “Sorry, I should clean these up. Should teach me for trying to climb the shelf.” A cute little giggle came out of her before she bent her knee’s, hovering above the ground as she put the book she wanted down and began scooping up the others to put them back on the shelves, unsure if she could remember quite where they all went but sure it was better than leaving them to get stood on or tripped over.

Prim perhaps would normally find herself in Thalia’s position, uncomfortable upon finding herself in the company of someone she barely knew, but strangely perhaps, the other girls unease put prim slightly more at ease. Maybe because she subconsciously knew the forced smile, the twitches that hinted at the other being comfortable. Most probably because of the girls easy giggle, and the apparent embarrassment of having tried to climb the shelf.
Ducking down to her knees, prim placed her books aside and began scooping up the books on the floor with thalia, pushing them haphazardly onto shelves where there appeared gaps in the line up, judging the books by the genre. Well, at least she was trying to shove all the vampire books back together. ”My names Prim, by the way” She smiled once she had pushed the last book into place. Grabbing her won, she straightened, dusting her hands on the back of her jeans.

While Thaila was clearly scared and shy, she found herself able to at least talk to Prim which, for the little vampire was incredibly rare. Maybe she could sense the fact that this state was normal for her too, thus letting her know that she wasn’t quite so strange. Well strange in general she couldn’t deny, but to over come a small amount of weird was good for the young girl. That feeling of never being able to belong was unbearable and so any hint that she someday might, it was refreshing and simply beautiful. The mess on the floor however, that didn’t fill Thaila with happy thoughts and a glowy feeling. In fact it left her quite scared. Like someone might turn the corner any minute and scold her for her actions. She didn’t know. She’d never been to a public library before. Thaila took more time scooping up the books than Prim did, not having the physical ability to do half a job. She read the spine of each book, finding the code on them and working out where, exactly, each one went before she pushed them into the bookcase. Prim’s help and the fact she clearly didn’t care quite as much as Thai made the job a lot easier. All the bright happy goodness of the young blonde came through in the smile she gave Prim when she introduced herself. Gently extending her hand, like she’d seen many people do in the past, thus encouraging her to believe that was ‘normal’, she introduced herself. “I’m Thaila. It’s nice to meet you. Oh and thank you, for your help.”

Penguins are so cute! Where did you get it?” but any answer Thalia might start to give was cut off as a blur of brown and leather came running round the side of the aisle and practically attached itself to her head. ”DID IT FOLLOW ME?”
Whilst, Prim had been getting her books and making friends, Curran had been hanging around the occult section and looking up books on demons, scanning through their pages quickly to see if there was anything within their leather binds that he didn’t already know. As was most of it was nonsense, and the few things he did not know where not in fact, worth knowing, and he had soon grew bored of standing in place and flicking through the old pages. Besides, the dust kept getting up his nose and making him sneeze – apparently not many people ever chose to descend to this level.
Climbing the stairs then back to the main floor, Curran was surprised to find himself in the middle of reading hour, and was dangerously close to getting hugged by his worst nightmare for saying ‘excuse me’ like a good little boy. The look of panic that had crossed his features was enough to make the library’s younger patrons giggle, but Curran was far from happy that the giant amphibian of his nightmares was rather close to enveloping him in those green arms, and had legged it, searching out instead his one potential saviour in this large place with a yelp.
Now, practically sat atop her shoulders in his fleeing haste, the panic stricken young man clung to prim as if his very life depended on it, peering round the aisle to see if he had lost his pursuer.
