Some how, quite amazingly, and though she had no idea when it happened, Thaila Elise Papillion became a creature of habit. Everyday recently, as the clock hit six o’clock in the evening, Thai closed her book, placing it on the side and ventured out to the park across from Lexi’s house. She didn’t mind the trip over there, it never took too long to get there and she knew she could be back in the house in minutes, hell faster if she used the speed she knew she had. Originally, Thaila had been nervous just leaving, but now she liked leaving the house. She had a reason to leave. She had what could possibly be considered as a friend. Every day when she was out, she bumped into this same guy walking his dog, Eryk. She was prone to shutting her senses down so couldn’t say she noticed anything abnormal about Eryk, she just enjoyed running around in circles with Fang and actually having someone to talk to. Someone who, strangely enough, understood her completely. When she spoke in such a way, most would raise a brow, Eryk seemed to know what she meant. He himself spoke older than his appearance would have you believe he was. So, in keeping with tradition, with a glance at the clock, Thaila followed her daily routine. Today was a bit of an odd one for the bubbly blonde, she was doing something she rarely did these days… She was wearing pants. Well leggings, which realistically weren’t any thicker than tights and honestly, confusing as to why they were more acceptable, but she wasn’t in a dress and tights, so it was still quite shocking. The intense winds had been making New Orleans cold all day and while the mighty imp could withstand the cold, the many people she’d seen in their hats and coats through the day looked so snug and cosy. Besides, who wanted to stand out? Thai definitely didn’t, despite her stance on glitter and the fact she was known to randomly quote books.
In an attempt to match the other people she’d seen that day, Thaila put on a big fuzzy coat and pulled a pink beanie over her straightened blonde hair. Despite the hat holding it down, her hair threw her hair about wildly in the wind. That didn’t shy the bubbly teenager from heading straight for the swings as she got to the park, pushing herself up as high as she could go and swinging along with the wind. That was until her hat flew off her head. As the swing came back down to the ground, Thaila jumped off and ran in the direction her hat went. wearing <3

Fang paced at Eryks side, the position of his tail below hip height revealing to the world of wolves and anybody who cared to read his body Language that Eryk was the Alpha here, and it was a position the Vampire had asserted since he had come across the young wolf hybrid seven years earlier. Of course, the vampire had a few unnatural advantages on his side when the wolf liked to wrestle, but now so long into the relationship it seemed the young canine had accepted his role and settled within it quite happily. His paws left large prints in the grass as the two walked, the wind pushing her cool fingers through the silk strands of his fur, The small whine in his chest revealed more of course, as Eryk picked up the subtle hint himself – the vampire even cracked a smile. Thalia was already here.
Eryk Nodded his head and Fang bounded forwards, off to find the young vampire whom had quickly become the wolfs new playmate, the strong wind pushing his fur flat against his face, giving the creature a streamlined look as he disappeared over the crest of a hill and towards the swing where he had first met the young vampire a few weeks before.
Eryk maintained his pace, his hands placed lightly within the pockets of his jeans. Jeans. Now they were a novel invention of this century, and though he was never truly comfortable in them, he had to admit they had their uses on days such as this. Besides, you could get somewhat strange looks these days walking around in a suit and tie all the time, and the women in the shop had been most helpful in helping him pick out attire that whilst appeared casual, did not make the man feel like one of you unsanitary youths he saw running around. Eryk was after all, a truly old soul, propelled by the orals and beliefs of his life, such things he still grasped even in his afterlife.
He pulled a small silver watch from his pocket; the metal slightly tarnished by its years of use, and pressed the small button that released the case, checking the time before he pressed it back into his pocket, safe against his though. His watch, a few books, and the wedding ring he wore on his finger still were of the few things he still retained form his past, and even these were ill gotten, taken from his son upon his death. He was not proud, but he wished to retain ties to the life he had once had, the son he had never known, and the love he had lost.
Reaching the crest of the hill Eryk arched his brows when he saw Thalia running towards him, apparently chasing a small red thing. His reflexes, being inhuman of course, allowed him to catch the garment as fang ran around her, yowling happily. The wolf could be such a true cub sometimes, and more so when around Thalia – Eryk found it amusing, and allowed a small smile play on his lips that broadened when the young vampire reached him. “Thalia, little one”He smiled, holding out his hand to return the small woollen hat. He approved of the colour, he must say. “This is yours?”

The young girl had been severely distracted, chasing the hat that flew off her head, when she’d come face to face with Fang. Well okay, face to face is a lie, his face to her shins really. As she looked down at her little wolf friend, all thoughts of the pink ball of wool were replaced by a grey ball of fur and a loving companion to her newly found friend. Thaila’s lips grew into a grin that covered her face as she threw her arms up, her hands in balls beside her head and began twirling in the middle of the grass. The wolf matched her actions by running in the same direction around her legs. As Thaila stopped quickly, so did Fang, only to quickly turn and start going the other way as she did. He was such a clever little thing and that was why Thaila couldn’t resist leaning down to let her fingers scruff playfully through his fur. “Who’s a good boy? Yes you are!!!” Thaila was starting to resign herself to the fact that this wolf was one of the few friends she actually had, but she was okay with that, after all you know what they say about dogs? The most loyal and caring friend man can ever hope to have. Thaila did know she had another friend as well though. Eryk. The owner of said wolf. Fang had been yapping playfully and running around her again, occasionally crossing in between her legs like it was a test to see if she’d see him coming. Times like these she was glad she had inhuman reflexes, even if they were being used as part of a puppy playtime.
Eryk’s voice travelled carefully over the wind. Thaila simply looked up with a grin as he said her name, and grinned at him before going back go play with the dog. “Hi Eryk.” Thai knew that by now, the visually young gentleman wouldn’t take her actions as rude, after all, he knew Thai well enough to know she was far from it, but he also knew her relationship with Fang and that the wolf enjoyed Thaila’s attention. As he offered her the hat back, Thaila’s eyes flickered over it for a second before her head shook like she was realizing something. Well, remembering at least. She stopped playing for a moment to stand up straight and take the little woollen thing he held. “Oh, thank you! I got distracted.” An infectious giggle came running out of her as she gently pulled the hat back onto her head, taking a moment to pull at it and her hair, still unsure if it looked right but risking it. Turning, Thaila spotted a stick and bend down to grab it before sending it flying across the air for Fang to catch. She watched him disappear into the distance before turning to Eryk with that same grin that hadn’t left her face. “I like coming here and seeing you two every day. He’s the cutest thing!” It was true. It was a nice escape from the many walls of the James household. “How have you been?” wearing <3

Eryk could not help but smile at the young girl as she played with Fang. Her youth was infectious, and it made the old souled vampire smile, and recall with some fondness his own youth, the youth of his wife and the easier, problem free days those entailed. But he knew that Thalia was far from free of her own problems – a young vampire had their own, with bloodlust and control to conquer without trying to fit normality into life. Of course there were also all those other teen things. Often people mistook his own decade for a simpler time, but the vast majority of problems were the same, just dealt with differently. They didn’t have the likes of Tv for example to showcase such behaviour, but that did not mean there were not stolen kisses behind the scullery.
He watched as both the stick and fang disappeared into the distance, placing his hands into the pockets of his jacket, a small habit he had picked up via observation of the modern world. Each generation had their won of course, and it could become quite tiresome trying to keep track of them all, but the ease with which one could simply stand in this position for long periods of time appealed to the vampire, for he often spent time doing nothing, standing still and simply watching. ”It was nothing, Thalia” he smiled in regards to her thanks for the hat, though for a strange reason a small part of him wished to reach out and adjust the hat a little to the left. He refrained of course, blamed it on modern influence – he often got such small desires.
He laughed softly at her exclamation, and offered his arm as they began to walk, taking a path they had often traversed during their little excursions. It never ceased to amaze him of course the way in which Thalia could have fang acting so much like a dog simply with her presence – when it was just the two of them, Fang was more wolf than anything that could be considered domestic. The two were more companions rather that master and pet. ”I am well, little one”He smiled, looking down at her with a slight tilt of his head. ”And you? Keeping out of too much trouble I hope?”

Thaila allowed her hand to delicately drape over Eryk’s arm as it was offered to her and continued to walk along with him, a delicate spring in her step as she walked with him. While the spring was, to some, a little annoying and childlike, for Thaila it wasn’t a huge deal. Maybe part of that was the fact she’d much prefer to be spinning, bouncing and skipping as they moved but she didn’t like to cause Eryk the embarrassment of having to be seen with her like that, nor did she want to have to break away from her companion and doing so while attached to him would be a little difficult. Eryk had informed her that he had been well and asked how she was, hoping she was staying out of trouble. A grin spread across her face, a bit of a giggle following the grin. “Trouble? You should know by now, Eryk, that I know not what you speak of, nor how to get into it.” With this she winked at him and the small giggle she’d possessed previously multiplied into what could only be described as fits of the things. “I’ve been great, though. Thank you for asking.” There was something simply bizarre about how easily Thaila had let Eryk slip into her life. Maybe it was her desperate need for a friend or maybe it was the fact that Eryk genuinely did seem to understand her. All the things the pair had in common helped her to feel like she did fit in, like she had a place she belonged in this world. Maybe it was quite simply the adorable wolf that followed by Eryk’s side with a loyalty only an animal could seem to possess these days.
As quick as lightening, said wolf came back into view, dropping the stick at Thaila’s feet before circling her legs just like any silly dog, taking pride in his ability to fetch. The action caused Thaila to grip Eryk’s arm harder as she did the best she could to not fall onto her bum. It was far from desirable at this moment in time. Well, at any moment in time really. Once Fang stopped whipping his body around her, he stood in front of her like he was waiting and she quickly grabbed the stick once again, throwing it back off into the distance.

------------------------------------- Eryk would like to meet these people who could find anything about the young vampire at his side that could come close to being described as ‘annoying’. He found pretty much everything about the young blonde endearing, at the skip as she walked, the sheer joy she pulled from being outside and simple existing was enough to lighten the old vampires heart and somewhat long for the days when he had seen the world in a similar light. Oh. How long it had been since he had ever seen the world like that, but the nomad had never stopped trying. He’d been to the four corners and back again searching for something akin to the wonder he had felt the first time, yet nothing had ever come close to making him wish to stay in one place for an extended period of time.
That was of course nothing except the petite and vibrant young woman whose hand was now draped over his arm. If he wasn’t careful, Eryk realised, he might soon find that he had other reasons for remaining in this town rather than those that were keeping him just now.
Her laughter was infections, and Eryk soon found himself laughing quietly with her, though the reason why escaped him and only increased at the sight of Fang returning with the stick in his mouth, his tail fluffed behind him with pride at his accomplishment. Eryk had watched the wolf take town deer single handed, yet had never seen him as domesticated as Thalia’s mere presence made him. He was certain in fact, that if Eryk ever tried to play fetch with him, he would obtain only incredulous looks for his efforts.
”I have known Fang for most of his life, yet i have never seen him act the way he does around you anyone else.”Eryk commented a soft smile. ”I believe it would be safe to assume that he is quite fond of you.”
