Kai had never known things to become so hectic in such a short pace of time. No. That was a lie. Of course he had known things to suddenly become hectic. What he wasn’t used to was things becoming hectic with a lack of gun involvement. In the last four months the tall, dark haired Irish man had gone from being a red head’s booty call, to renting an apartment with her and decorating one of the rooms with large pictures of winnie the pooh. Kai was going to be a dad... and he wasn;t sure how he felt about that. When it came down to it... when the russet eyed twenty something actually managed to sit down and think about everything that was going on, he was not sure how he felt about this entire situation, if he should be panicking.... if he should be doing something more or doing something less. For the man who spent his life living out of one bag and three pairs of jeans and a on a stolen bicycle, he suddenly had the beginnings of a family. But he knew one thing. Kai was happy. Obliviously happy, even he did constantly have the small nagging voice at the back of his head, the voice of his father, his mother, his brother... of everything he knew and lived by, reminding him that there was every chance the life growing inside the red heads womb was not his. It was the face of his, the abomination and insult of his, the result of a violent crime conducted in retribution for another, done in revenge of the first. The past would always come back to haunt you. And the voice reminded him that there was every likelihood the baby in Peyton’s womb was just another reminder. The voices reminded him that he shouldn’t be getting so attached.... for he may have to kill this thing that was giving both him, and the woman he was madly in love with, so much happiness. Not that she knew any of this. He had voiced his opinion, once, in that calm way of speaking he had whenever something was getting to him. Kai was good at hiding what he felt by refusing to acknowledge them. And that was what he was doing now, as he sat in front of the tv with a Guinness in his hand and a cigarette dangling from the other. Kai wasn’t one for sports – he didn’t understand American football. What he did like however... was Jeremy kyle.

I give up....For Peyton, the last few months had been just as difficult, with the only difference being the things that made it difficult. She too lived with that constant nagging at the back of her head, the one that told her, her child might not be Kai's, the one that told her she might spend the rest of her life worrying and waiting for Kai to turn on her and her little sea monkey. But there was also that nagging doubt that was sat in the front of her mind, the one she couldn't push away like the other one. This one told Peyton she wasn't good enough. It warned her that she didn't deserve this life and told her that past experience already pre-destined the course of her life and that she simply wasn't good enough to do this. It warned her that if she wasn't good enough before, there was little chance she'd be good enough now. The difference between these fears was that she'd mentioned the first to Kai, the latter was still boiling away in her brain, determined to drive her insane. Maybe this was why it took her so long to accept what the symptoms persisting to intrude on her life added up to, why she knew for a long time that the only logical explanation was that she was pregnant but why she laid there every morning, taking deep breaths as long as she possibly could and telling herself it wasn't morning sickness, it was just a bug, she wasn't going to be sick cause with bugs, you could repress it, hold it in, it was harder when you threw up because of the surge of hormones raging through your body. The day obviously came that she gave in though, the proof of that was the place they lived in, the nursery Kai had decorated and the sheer amount of baby stuff it held. Peyton knew she'd only let Kai in on a little bit of her past. She knew he didn't know exactly what had happened with Aaron, or exactly why she would be so scared, but she couldn't bare to. Every time she tried, she froze. Putting off as many pregnant traditions as possible had become a thing for Peyton, in fact everything she'd done had been aided by Kai. Buying all the stuff for the baby had come from a trip to simply grab a few things for the child she already had. She'd also spent weeks defying the world of maternity clothes, stealing his clothes a lot of the time or resulting to tying a hair band around the loop of her jeans to keep them up. Today, with no aiding, and not because of the fact Kai kept telling her she needed to either buy maternity clothes or resort to leggings. No. Today after finally giving up on her jeans and once again reaching for Kai's, she realized something needed to be done. So she'd got in her car and taken a little drive. She was less sure of her decision the minute she arrived home. She'd headed for a shower as Kai planted himself in front of the idiot box and spent a good twenty minutes stood in front of the mirror, her hair blown into curls and wearing nothing but underwear as she slowly turned to her side to take in her bump. She ran her hands over it gently and slowly, taking in every small movement her sea monkey made and critically analyzing the way it sat, how round it was and, despite the fact she told herself she didn't want to, falling in love with her protruding stomach. In the end it became sad to cover it, not because she didn't want to put on the maternity clothes she'd picked out (after arguing with the woman that worked there that black was a valid maternity clothing option), but because she didn't want to cover it up. That said, the mound of delicate, floating, light peach colored fabric was eventually slipped over Peyton's head, her hands tugging the skirt down before she smoothed the fabric over her stomach. She had two options.... sit there and mope about the fact she was actually wearing this dress, or simply move on like all the other proud mom's she'd seen at the store seemed to be doing. So with a sigh, she emerged from the bedroom, layers of chiffon flowing behind her as she headed towards the living room, spotting Kai sat on the couch and plonking herself down beside him, pulling her legs up beside her on the couch and leaning her head against him. "What did I miss?"wearing :]

In what could perhaps be interpreted as typical kai style, he didn’t mention the peach coloured chiffon when he first noticed it. The beaten in and forced habits that the lifestyle of a hunter provided meant of course, that he noticed the change in his girlfriends attire. He noticed the soft swish of the floaty material, and the feel of the jumper under his arm as he shifted to wrap it around her shoulders and gently run his fingers over her arm. It may have been the hunter in him that noticed all these things, but it was Kai’s personality that stopped him from commenting on it. But of course Peyton would know by now that Kai’s expression lay not with his voice, or in his eyes, cold as they ever where, but in his hands, and the gently movement of his fingertips over her arm, the gentle pull of her against his chest. He liked the dress, and the jumper combo. He liked the way her rounded tummy just showed through the downy material of her jumper, and for a second his hand dropped to graze it as his eyes watched the bald women on the tv scream at her cheating husband. Truly, things never changed in the vast majority of life. Jeremy kyle was always going to be sorting out rifts between cheating partners. Still grazing the tummy with his fingers, he lifted his beer to his lips and sipped, the neck dangling from his fingertips as he lowered his arm across the arm of the chair. ” The chick with cancer think the buck’s cheating on her with her sister. The sister says no, and her buck is cheating on her with the bald chick. It’s basically a big orgy.”

There wasn't a whole lot that could be better than this....There was something safe about the feeling she got from curling up in Kai's arms. It wasn't because he was a hunter or because Peyton knew full well that he had the ability to blow the head off almost anything that could come their way, though she did know these things. No it came from the knowledge that he loved her. She knew so many girls that spent their entire relationships doubting if the other person wanted to be with them, feeling insecure about whether they would leave them, worried about every girl he spoke to. Peyton had been here before, but not with Kai. He was so different. Peyton knew what he was like before she met him, not that he was much different now. He wasn't a socialite. He didn't have tons of friends, he didn't go out and party, and more than that she knew he wasn't the type to settle down and have kids. She gave him every out. He had every chance to leave if that was what he wanted to do. He never did. Instead he spent his days in front of the TV and his nights painting cartoon characters while she slept. She knew he was all for her. She knew he loved her. He wouldn't do the things he did if he didn't. That was why she was safe. She had a good home here with him. She had a life and a future that she didn't feel the need to threat over. She also knew the instinct every person had over a loved one, that protective instinct. Just like she'd never let anything happen to Kai, she knew he'd do what it took to protect her. She knew he didn't know the baby was his, but she knew he cared about it regardless (or maybe just in case, either way she was accepting of it.) She adored the feel of his fingers moving slowly over her bump, so gentle and caring but an act that was something that probably shouldn't be thought much about. And definitely something she could get used to. The smell of Guinness as he spoke was overwhelming. Something that Peyton hadn't even been able to stand before she got pregnant but that was now all she seemed to want. Instead, because she was often told off for trying to steal the bottle, once he was done talking, her foot dug into the couch and he pushed her body upwards so her mouth could press gently against his, stealing the taste off of his lips. "What is it with this show? Someone's always cheating on someone or at least accusing them of cheating. Why don't people just leave someone if they don't want to be with them anymore? Its ridiculous! And really if you need to go on TV because you don't trust your partner then it's not exactly going anywhere, is it?!" wearing :]

It would appear that Peyton had deployed some form sneak manoeuvre on Kai that moment, because the Dark haired Irish man was not the expecting the lips that were suddenly against his, especially after a monologue on the cheating wives of Doncaster. Still, surprise was not enough to stop the man from kissing back, nor for tightening his grip a little against her hip in an attempt to keep her there, pressed against him and kissing for a little longer, savouring the taste of her lips, still slightly minty from her toothpaste.
It was only after she had pulled away that he realised he had simply been used for the taste of Guinness he was drinking that lingered on his lips, and Kai wasn’t sure whether or not he was okay with that. A moment of internal fighting later, and he had decided he was fine with it. A kiss was a kiss, and Kai was a sucker for the red head’s lips, the addictively soft feel of her mouth pressed to his. Let’s face it, her lips were like honey to him. Lifting the bottle once more to his lips, kai swigged.
It was with a shrug that kai gave his non committal answer; ”Money or some’at?” and turned his attention back to the squabbling couple, and the results of the lie detector test. Turns out, everyone had really been cheating on everyone. ”See. Told yah. One big orgy.”

God I love this man....A lot of men would have found a way to complain about the way their girlfriend using them purely cause they tasted like stout. In all fairness, she'd also spent far too long away from those lips, so part of it was just addiction and the sheer need to miss him. But it was mainly the traditionally Irish drink that did it. She knew he knew why she'd been so quick to attack his lips, and the lack of a fight and the fact he, immediately after she moved away, took another drink, just told her that Kai really didn't care. He wouldn't let her drink the stuff, despite the fact there were some days when it was all the poor girl wanted. Peyton liked to tease and pout and insinuate she considered him cruel because he refused to share his drink with her, but honestly, it made her heart happy that he cared enough about her and the baby to not allow her to drink or smoke whilst she was pregnant. The excitement of the lie detector results on Jeremy Kyle apparently became too much for Kai and he seemed to completely forget both the kiss and the bottle in his hands. Peyton's green eyes grew wide as the results were announced and Kai pointed out how well he'd called it. She chuckled gently, her face wearing a wide grin as she turned to look at him. "You know they have groups for people with a day time TV addiction?!" Her voice contradicted her face, seeming so serious, but the grin that normally migrated when she was trying to make like she was picking fun at him. "Gotta be said though... It sorta turns me on when you talk about Orgies." Yeah, she still couldn't pull a serious face, despite the fact she sort of meant that one. wearing :]

There was very little kai new about being in a relationship, about being in what he deemed the normal world. There was also, by proxy, very little way he could know about pregnancy, but, then you had to factor in the sheer amounts of daytime tv he watched. House, for example, or grey’s anatomy were his favourite of the various day time doctor shows. Neither were as good as the king of the gypsy’s himself Jeremy however, but he knew enough about being pregnant that smoking and drinking beer was bad when you were pregnant.
So, deciding straight out that he was going to be a different dad to his own ( not better, for Kai never saw anything wrong in what his father did, even when he went a little crazy) he had decided to start by caring about it now. Even if it wasn’t his. Even if it was a shape shifter. Just in case. And if nothing else, he cared for the red head who was curled against his side, loved the woman who stole the taste of stout form his lips. Yes. He even loved her when she took the piss out his being Irish.
Grunting at her comment on addiction to say time TV, kai gave her arm a gentle squeeze, taping the cool bottle o her arm, then lifted the smoke to his lips and drew the dregs of nicotine form it;s butt, before grinding it in the ash tray at his side. So, he wouldn’t let Peyton smoke, but some second hand smoke, rarely done on purpose, and occasionally he just forgot, wouldn’t doo her harm. He hoped.
”orgy orgy orgy orgy” He smirked, turning his head to her as his thumb ran over the bottle neck, wiping the dew from its coloured glass. ” Working still?
