Merry Christmas...
Everything was starting to become a little bit blurry. Peyton wasn't sure how waking up to a perfect morning with her perfect fiancee wiping flour off her cheek had descended into this... Her having to grip the same hand that once cleared her face just to make it through the contraction that shocked its way through her body. She'd spent weeks on alert, ready to go into labor, but at the moment her waters broke, she'd been thinking about everything but... More so when she read the words on the paper, telling her that she would never actually give birth to the child she carried. It had to be wrong. If anything proved it wrong it was going into labor... Right?
She wasn't fairing much better than Kai.... She knew he was panicking, mainly because when her head had been placed against his chest she could hear the way his heart was beating. It had become apparent he could hide a lot from Peyton, but this was one thing he couldn't. She could barely hear him as he had a phone conversation with the emergency services, but her eyes looked up to him with fear as he told her that an ambulance was on its way. She let out another nod. "I should..... Should I put clothes on??" She felt like there was something she needed to do... But they had everything sorted. There was already a bag sat across the other side of the room with all her stuff, ready for just this to happen.

Should she put clothes on? Looking down at his scantily clad fiancé, kai decided that a loose fitting dress of some description would be a good idea, and certainly slightly better than her underwear. She may be in labour, but he could save her pride when the medics arrived. Moving over the small space of carpet from where they currently stood to their wardrobe, he pulled out a dress and helped her into it, finding a shirt for himself and pulling it over his head. True to their world, it was but a few minutes after this that kai heard the wail of sirens, and cupped her face in his hand.
They’re nearly here baby. It’s going to be fine. Turning his attention to her swollen tummy, kai continued and you baby girl... you hang on okay? You spread eagle in there and you hold tight until we get to the hospital, or you won’t get that bike for Christmas till you’re five....

Merry Christmas...
Peyton watched intently as Kai went to grab her a dress, aiding him in putting it on her, feeling an overwhelming desire to tell him she could ACTUALLY dress herself, but decided against doing so, purely because she enjoyed the feeling of him fussing over her far too much. Once he'd got the dress on and had moved to get himself a shirt, Peyton searched out her hair brush, pulling it quickly through her long red curls before starting to pace again. She couldn't help it, it had a calming affect on her, and as she didn't seem to be having another contraction at this very time, it seemed like the most reasonable thing for her to do with herself.
Her face nuzzled against the feel of his touch against it, nodding as he told her it was going to be fine. She knew he couldn't possibly know that but her adoration of him grew more every time he tried desperately to convince her. But it was the way he spoke to their unborn child that got her the most. This was why she couldn't even seem to entertain the possibility it wasn't his, because you could tell by the way he tried to bribe her with future christmas gifts to stay put till they got to the hospital, that Kai had already found a place in his heart for this baby to step into. She might have been inside Peyton, but she (yes Peyton had given into Kai and her mother telling her that this would be a girl) was already a part of both of them.
Her hands lifted up, resting over Kai's, closing her eyes before another contraction hit her, one arm moving to his forearm, holding her arms tense over his to stop herself from falling to the floor, despite REALLY wanted to, doing her best to bite back the scream she desperately wanted to let out. She knew that from here, it could only get worse!! The pains would get less bearable, move closer together, make everything harder for Peyton. She had so far to go. It felt like going into labor should have been the end of the six month battle they'd endured just to reach this point, but Peyton knew the worst was yet to come. She knew simply giving birth to her child would be far from 'the end', she just had to stop herself from thinking about it for the sake of her sanity. She just had to hold on... Which at this moment in time... she meant literally.

After today, kai was pretty sure he would wonder why women chose to enter into child bearing and birth out of their own choice. Why people may actually plan a second pregnancy in fact when they knew the pain of the first – Peyton’s grip on his arm was enough to match any monster he had ever come across and who had gotten a hold of him.... and in that moment in time he was far more scared of what she might do to the bones beneath his skin that he was ever scared of what some poncy old monster might try to do. Not that you know, he was going to say any of this out loud.... the guy didn’t have a death wish.
Instead, Kai clung to Peyton as she clung to him, as the paramedics ran inside the small apartment he called out to them. They Helped Peyton into a wheelchair, and he grabbed the bag they had kept prepared and ready since their first visit to the hospital and slung it over his shoulder, following them out to the ambulance, pausing only to lock the front door. Then, he followed Peyton into the ambulance, sitting and holding her hand tight. Kai did not pray. He did not believe that there was a god out there who would make things right, or that he even cared. But he prayed now, to the baby and to Peyton, that this had been long enough. That they were going to be okay.
Winding his fingers into hers, he squeezed gently.

Merry Christmas...
She'd never been one for clinging, but Kai had changed that a long time ago. Between the way she clung to him every night as she laid beside him in bed, to the way emotionally she held onto him and planned to do so every day for the rest of her life. She couldn't believe how hard this pregnancy had been, but they'd moved past every curve ball the world had thrown at them. She wasn't sure why they had to suffer so much but she couldn't only sit and hope that it was nearly over, that they had reached their quota of pain and heartbreak and that it was all going to be worth it to have their baby with them. Their baby that apparently seemed keen to meet mommy and daddy.
As the medics got her into the wheelchair, it occurred to Peyton that sitting hurt as much if not more than walking did, but she just said nothing, let them wheel her out to the ambulance, looking back for Kai as she noticed he wasn't there, watching his muscular frame stand in front of the door and fiddle with keys. It wasn't that long until he was beside her, especially when everything seemed to be moving at a blur. She clung to him again, her hands clasped around his tight. True to the blur that was this whole thing, it seemed like no time at all until they were pulling her out of the ambulance and wheeling her through the clinically white hallways of the hospital.
Soon she was on all fours on the hospital bed, the hospital gown she wore just about covering her ass but by this point she'd decided that enough people had been looking and feeling around down there that it just didn't matter. Her hands seemed to ball around the sheet covering the bed beneath her, her body moving backwards and forwards gently as she cried and groaned her way through contractions making even her wonder why she would have chose to go through this again. As one contraction seemed to past, Peyton threw her hand out to grab for her fiancee, crying out. "Please make it stop?!"

Kai hated hospitals... and most of the hospital staff knew it. Often he walked rather rigidly along it’s halls, his back straight, as though he walked a straight line in fear of something that might jump out and grab him. Today however he had more important things on his mind than his hatred of the white washed walls of this building, the sterile stench of cleaning fluid. Now he had his wife to be, crouched in pain as their baby fought its way into existence, refusing to live in the captivity of Peytons body anymore. He wished she would however, he wished saorise would choose just a few more weeks.... but their baby had held on this long. He was glad for that.
Taking Peytons hand as she reached for him, her plea plucked at his heart strings as if playing the harp upon his sorrow. He had promised to keep her safe, and repeatedly he had failed, but he knew that this time at least there was little to nothing he could do to help her pain. Instead, he clung to her hand and reached over to press the button for the nurse, looking to her with pleading eyes when she came in. Please, drugs? Is there anything you can do about the pain?

Merry Christmas...
She literally felt like she was dying, like her body was slowly coming in half. She was trying to contain her cries, to not make it clear quite how hard it was. She had a fiancee that could walk around with a bullet through the gut, he was so strong, she felt so weak in comparison. Her hand gripped his so hard, knuckles turned white, her fingers tight around his. The nurse went to get an anaesthesiologist, leaving them on their own again as she went to find him.
She took deep breaths, turning to face him with red curls sticking to her forehead. Her grey green eyes were filled with pain, but more than anything, she couldn't seem to shift that niggling feeling in the back of her mind. She'd read those documents, the ones that said her baby wouldn't be born. How could those files have so much information in them that they could have never known, but then be so wrong about something else?? It had to be wrong right? I mean here she was... In labor.... Her baby was coming.... What more proof did you need?

Kai felt completely and utterly helpless as he stood there clinging to Peytons hands. How he wished he could take the pain away, lifting his other hand to brush it through her hair, but he knew there was no chance of that, not until the nurse returned with the other doctor and what he hoped was enough drugs to sedate a horse. Looking back into her eyes, he pushed the damp red curls from her face and tried a smile. You can do this baby... You’re so strong... this is nothing. Think about the bay.... how beautiful she’s going to be... how worth it this all is And kai did believe that. He knew in his heart that their daughter was going to be beautiful and perfect and worth every minute of struggle they had both endured.

Merry Christmas...
As Kai's hand stroked her hair out of her face, she moved to nuzzle his hand. She was sweaty and gross but figured that she was having his child, so could be excused. She nodded as he spoke. "She is going to be worth it, so worth it!!" She said, smiling at him, still on all fours and holding onto one of his hands. Her head quickly ducked down between her arms again, small pained groans growing quickly and her grip tightening again. "WHY WON'T SHE COME OUT ALREADY?? I THOUGHT SHE WAS IN A RUSH!!!!"

As peyton screamed, Kai once again looked towards the doors and squeezed her hand, his dark eyes searching out the nurse and the drugs she had promised his fiancé. He had no idea why childbirth had to be so painful – why the human body would ever even allow something like that to occur naturally. It occurred to him that life would be a lot less painful if they had baby’s like kangaroos, and with pouches... but to be perfectly honest, the idea of Peyton with a pouch on her belly was not particularly appetising.
Then again, if it had always been that way, he guessed he would see it as sexy as fuck,
