Plot
Welcome to Darkemouth, Maine, a seemingly ordinary port city. Looks though can be deceiving, this city was founded in 1632 by a mix of 'supernatural' beings from the old world looking to find a new home away from the ever increasing human population. Almost 400 years later theirs is a thriving city, but the humans, most of whom have no idea that supernaturals are real, have encroached and now make up roughly two thirds of the city's population.
Over time the city has also built up a large population of 'created' supernaturals, the remnants and later turnees of a dream of power almost 3 millennia ago that lead to the natural borns working together to defeat one of their own and his unnatural creations. An uneasy peace has reigned between the born and created as most endeavour to keep themselves hidden from the human majority who would overwhelm them with numbers should a war ever be fought. Most, whatever their species, just want to live their lives as they wish.
Things are changing though, someone hidden is manoeuvring things, determined to become ruler of the world through the use of any that will come to the siren song of power and or wealth. Whoever the hidden person is, he or she knows that opposing them would be a reason for the various species to unite again so they are moving carefully and so far their objective remains hidden from those who would oppose them.
The leaders of the various species are currently pre-occupied, there are rumours of a newly created species now loose in the city and of a group of humans catching them and any non human that they can find... Human hunters have always been a problem, those objecting to other sentient species sharing the planet and worse having 'relations' with humans, but this time its different, it seems that this new group is large and government backed.
Not everything is black and white, of the species that inhabit the Earth only the nymphs, selkies and elementals seem untouched by the rumours and immune to the lure of wealth and power… or are they?
