PERSONAL STYLE » Axel stands at the height of five foot nine inches, completely sure that he had attained the height gene from both of his parents, seeming that his mother was tall for a woman, and his father at averaged height. Axel liked to keep his hair at a decent length but out of his face, and clean cut. His eyes are strangely blue a trait that he had inherited from his grandfather on his mother’s side. Axel likes to keep himself as clean as he can, though with his current job being a hunter, he was well aware that there are going to be times where he’s not going to be able to get himself into a shower. His dark features, such as his hair and eyes, come from his heritage being Portuguese, but he was relatively pale for someone of the European decent, so he assumes that his light skin ton comes from the father he never knew.
Axel liked being comfortable while he was dressed, and what he found to be comfortable was particularly a little abnormal compared to your normal human being. He was the most comfortable in his jeans, a tank top, and his steal toyed boots. Depending on the weather of the state that he was currently in, Axel liked to wear his black leather jacket that his uncle had sent to him a few years ago. For safety reasons, Axel always wore a pair of black steel toed boots to protect his feet and to sometimes give someone a good kick when needed.
He worked – and still does – hard to hold onto the frame of body that he currently holds. He has an average weight for his height being 175 pounds. He wasn’t too lean, he was very much defined, and developed a lot of strong and firm facial features from his father. Along with him, he had acquired his soft hair, that a lot of the woman that Axel has laid down with complimented after they were finished with their nightly events.

PERSONALITY » Axel’s… he’s um… well, to sum him up in one word, a dick. That’s right, Axel is very much a dick and tends to like to be that way. He’s not one to be generally close to others, and when they were, he was like a loyal therapy dog for the blind. His bad attitude generally stems from Axel not having that good of a social life when he was growing up. Friendly is just not really in his category, and neither is having friends. Axel finds them to be a bit of an annoyance; constantly having to worry about someone else wasn’t something that he wanted to be doing with his life.
He knew very well how to shut down and turn cold within a split second. At some point, one could be having what they thought to be a pleasant conversation with him, and the next he’d be insulting them, and driving them away. When it comes to his job that always comes first before anyone else, including lives. There have been a few times where the very people that he was trying to protect end up dead at the end of the job. It’s something that he de-attaches himself too.
A lot of people would probably call his attitude a monster, he’s quick tempered and is quick to get defensive. He has a habit of telling off people of authority (since he doesn’t really like them) and verbally abusing others. Yeah, he’s kind of a dick. The one thing that Axel can keep too that stands him out to being a good person, is that no matter who you are as a person, if you were a woman, he shows respect almost instantly. Growing up with only his mother for a little while, tends to teach you to be respectful towards women.
HISTORY » Axel Sastre Maverick was born on December 12th, in Salem Hospital Salem, Massachusetts to a single mother named Kaylynn Winry-Ann Maverick who was in her early twenties. His mother was still very young, she was in her second year of college, had her own place, and a small steady job as a CVS Clerk; who had a special gift, she was a psychic (a trait that he did not inherit). What about his father? That’s the thing, Axel didn’t know much about his father, and what he did know was all that his mother had told him. He knew that he had acquired his middle name from his father, whose full name is Sastre Quicksilver. What did he do for work? Well, he was a hunter, and often was on the road. He knew that his mother and father had met when she had seen him in a vision one night and the two of them seemed to have hit it off. Something though had separated the two of them and his mother had never heard from him again. That’s about all that he knew about the past between his parents.
Being so young, his mother needed to make changes in her life to fit the new baby that was on the way. She had quit school, and took on her job as a full time employee. That wasn’t the only thing. Everyone at her work had realized the kind of situation that she was in, being a single mother was going to be difficult, and they all knew that she was going to need help. And they did help her. All of her employees helped by throwing a party, buying her things that she couldn’t afford, and even her manager pitched in. Axel’s grandparents, only uncle, and his uncle’s girlfriend even moved up to Salem to make sure that their daughter and new grandson/nephew had everything that they needed.
Everything was going great for the new mother. The small family had all of the support that they needed, up until Kaylynn’s manager had decided that he was going to stop by unannounced, and she didn’t get the time to cover the devil’s traps and clean of the salt from the windows before he had arrived. Worried and concerned for Kaylynn’s mental health and the care of little Axel, he called Child Services. It was a mistake, with just one visit they had deemed Kaylynn unfit to care for Axel and looked for a home right away. Taking in sympathy for the new mother without a father in the picture, they had turned to her parents who had agreed to taking in Axel till Kaylynn was “better.” That didn’t happen. The morning that they had gone to pick up the baby boy, they were gone. Axel’s mother had packed the two of them, got into their jeep, and left without a word.
The two of them settled down in West Virginia, upon arrival, Kaylynn had gone in and changed her name, along with her son’s last name (though he would change it back when we went onto the road by himself). It is here that Axel lived six years of his life. It was here that the two person family turned into three. Kaylynn had acquired the company of a man named Cyrus Tarwater; he was a hunter down in the area that only did local jobs. For the six years that they have been down there, his mother had been getting training from him to become a skilled hunter, and as soon as Axel was old enough, he didn’t wait to dig his hands into him. “Get them young.” was what he had said to his mother the moment that training the young boy became an issue. Their training ranged from fake I.D’s all the way to handling a weapon, though Kaylynn didn’t trust applying for credit cards, it was much too risky for her to do considering that she had kidnapped her own son to make sure that he stayed with her. So as long as the three of them were together, Cyrus was the one that had applied for the credit cards.
During their stay, when Axel was four years old, Cyrus had found himself a hunt locally and left the two of them unguarded in the little town. Little did they know that the creature that Cyrus was hunting was making a target out of Axel. This creature was better known as the Slender Man. The Slender Man is exactly what it sounds like, a slender man with abnormally long arms, white without a face, and always wore a suit. It was hard to see him unless you were a child and if you were an adult, you could only see him through a video recorder. Axel had been at the park where children had started to be reported missing, but Cyrus had just assumed that nothing was going to happen to him. After all, no creature would dare go after a boy who was currently being fathered by a hunter right?
Wrong. Axel was sound asleep in the room next to his mother when he had heard something moving around. Being a little kid, Axel’s first response was to duck down underneath his covers and hide, but as the heavy footsteps got closer to him, he became… morbidly curious. Taking his tiny hands and wrapping them around the edge of his blanket, peeking out. It was there that he saw the Slender Man staring right at him. In fear, Axel screamed and cried for his mother, and before he knew it, she came bursting into the room, flinging the door open like a lioness. It was a creature that was unafraid of the presence of a hunter in training, and it should’ve been afraid. She drew her gun, and unleashed round after round after round into the body of the creature, but nothing seemed to have worked, and he reached for her son. With an angry scream that Axel remembered that pierced his ears, she had lunged with a decent sized knife in her hand. He had no idea what that knife us, but he knew that it hurt enough when she had sliced the abnormally long limb of the beast. It pulled back, and yanked away from her. She grabbed a hold of her son, charged out of the room and picked up the cell phone that Cyrus had given her and dialed for the hunter, he was there in a few moments and handled the hunt.
It was that very night that Axel had a new found trust and respect in his mother. He had no idea what had happened that night, but he knew that he never wanted to piss off his mother. This is where Axel’s respect for women stemmed from. It also helped that since he only had his mother as a blood relative, he knew that respecting women was something that was going to be instilled in him. It happened when he was four years old, and the habit hasn’t been broken just yet.
That was when his mother had decided that living the life of a hunter wasn’t something that she wanted for her son anymore. In the beginning she understood what she was doing, and knew that there were going to be dangers, but being that close to home really shook her, but by the time that she had made that decision it was a little too late. He had already been drilled into the training, there was no turning back. So she had decided – against Cyrus’s protests – that when they had to travel after that incident, she forced all of them to stay in the area as long as possible, and they were going to enroll Axel into school so that he got the chance to be a normal child. But how normal could he be knowing what his mother and Cyrus did for a living? He wasn’t. And it was because of his mother’s decision to keep him in one place for a few weeks and then move him when the scent of a new hunt popped up is what changed the child’s attitude towards friends.
Growing up, he made friends and then left, made friends, and left again, made more friends, and left once more. It was an ongoing cycle that Axel got sick and tired of doing and by the time that he was ten years old, he was closed off to those that he didn’t already know. He kept to himself and wanted nothing to do with other people. That caused him to be a socially awkward with other children when he was forced to work into groups.
Within the next ten years after the Slender Man incident, Axel had lost count how many times he had moved to a different place, there were even some areas that he revisited, but not a lot. His changing of homes was not the only thing that he had realized was different. He was beginning to go with Cyrus and his mother on hunts. What went from a one man gig and leaving Axel and his mother at home, turned into a three person gig, the whole “family” was going. But there was something that Axel had realized while going on hunts with his mother and Cyrus. With his mother tagging along though, she acted like a puppy-dog. She was obeying everything that he said without question. Not that long ago, it was often that Axel heard and listened to Cyrus and his mother argue about where they were going next and what they were hunting. She was beginning to act a little strange, she was a little more anxious, and was quick to avoid a fight. Axel didn’t like it, and he wanted to know what was going on.
When he had confronted his mother, she had told him that there was nothing wrong and that there was nothing for him to worry about, but Axel knew differently. All of his life, his mother lied to just get him to stop worrying, but now that Axel had picked up on her nasty habit, it was time that he did a little snooping. And as he dug around, he had realized that there was something going on between Cyrus and his mother. Next thing that he knew, he was being dismissed from school and he walked outside to see his mother sitting in their truck with his bags already packed. As he climbed into the truck, she didn’t look at him, just told him to put on his seat belt and she drove off. He took a moment to take in what his mother was wearing and realized that there were spots of blood on her shirt and her hands. When he had asked her what had happened and where was Cyrus, she said nothing. He had left it alone.
The two of them took everything on together after that day. Axel and his mother were almost together at the hip. With Cyrus gone, Kaylynn had been the one to continue with his training, and because he was gone, and Kaylynn was still Axel’s mother, she was a little hesitant to be bringing him on hunts with her. But she had finally given in as soon as Axel turned sixteen. They were hunting together as best friends and as mother and son.
It had been eighteen years since Kaylynn or even Axel set foot in Salem, Massachusetts; the two of them found themselves settling into the Salem Inn (now going referring each other to their changed names) that was in the middle of downtown Salem after they were given a tip that demonic omens were beginning to appear around the city. To Axel, this wasn’t as nearly as important as other hunts because, well, it was Salem. There were witches and demons here no matter what the two of them did to get rid of them; the city was always going to be stained. It wasn’t an hour after they had arrived that Kaylynn was already on the phone and locking herself in the bathroom, leaving Axel to sit out on the bed and organizing their weapons to make sure that everything was there, and make sure that there was a place to put it when it was going to be needed. He was used to having his mother calling their connections and locking herself in the bathroom. It was almost like it was a routine for her, kind of like she was checking in with someone.
Knock. Knock.
A knock at the door of their room caused Axel to stop everything that he was doing and look up, a glare in his eye. It was never a good thing when someone knocks on your door just within the hour that you get there. Axel got up, walked to the door and peeked out through the peep hole to see an older gentlemen standing there. He was dressed nicely, like a corporate worker. His hair was a rich dark brown color with the tint of gray, showing a sign of age. Holding a gun tightly in his hand, Axel wrapped his hand around the door handle, opened it, then reached out and grabbed the stranger by the tie, yanking him into the motel room, closing the door, and slamming him against the wall, placing the barrel of the gun against his head.
“Who the hell are you?!” Axel shouted in the face of the terrified stranger, who stood there frozen and pressed against the wall. Axel’s mother had stepped out of the bathroom just then, her eyes widening and rushing over, begging for her son to release the man. Against his wishes and his will, Axel released the elder man and took a step back, glaring at him. The stranger did nothing but stare at him. It was then that his mother placed a hand onto the shoulder of the stranger and started to explain that this stranger wasn’t a stranger at all. He was in fact Kaylynn’s older brother, Mark Jr. After Kaylynn had picked up Axel and skipped state, she still stayed in contact with her older brother, who was a good enough person to keep the location of his sister and his newborn nephew to himself to make sure that they were safe and happy; two words that Axel didn’t really have that much of an understanding of.
Axel had no idea to react at the time, except how he knew that they were going to be here. His mother then went on to explain to him that she had called his uncle a head of time so that they could meet up, and catch up on a few things, to talk about their parents who had just been murdered. A smirk had appeared on his uncle’s face, and he spoke with venom in his voice.
“Well, you can thank me for that.” As soon as Mark had blinked his eyes, they turned from dark brown, to black. Before either of the two hunters got the chance to react, the possessed uncle had thrown Axel across the room, pinning him to the wall in between the two beds, he then turned towards his mother and grinned, her eyes widening in fear as she was slammed hard against the wall behind her, brought back up and slammed and pinned to the ceiling. There was a cry of pain that caused Axel to flinch.
“Stupid mortals.” the voice that Axel remembers hearing was thick and full of evil, and sounded as though it was auto-tuned like a lot of singers have been doing. “You should have left me be, little girl.” The demon had looked up at his mother, grinning. The sickening grin on his face imprinted in Axel’s mind. “Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Kaylynn… you were a little noisy with how you rolled back into the state. Especially since I’ve known that you were on my trail after I murdered your parents.” It was the moment that Axel was never going to forget. He was forced to listen to the two of them talk, because not only was he pinned against the wall, but the demon made sure that he wasn’t going to get the chance to say anything.
“I couldn’t let you get away for killing them.” Axel’s mother replied, her eyes looking to her seventeen year old son pinned to the wall. A look of regret taking over her face, the frown deepening the lines on her and all Axel could do was just look at her. He couldn’t tell her that everything was going to be okay, that they were going to get out of this. All he could do was just stare at her as the demon continued to toy with the two of them.
“They were getting in the way.” The beast answered, turning his attention towards the young male pinned to the wall, and a grin had started forming. “And I’ll finish up the Maverick family… but first, I’ll start with your little boy here.” Axel was suddenly filled with terror and fear, his eyes turning towards his mother, who looked down at him with the same look on her face as the demon possessed brother of hers approached him.
“If you do that!” His mother started, getting the demon to stop right in front of her little boy. “I’ll pray for assistance… I’ll pray for God to protect us.” That certainly got the demon’s attention, he had turned around and looked up at the woman pinned to the ceiling with a smirk on his face, walking over and stand underneath her.
“If that were true, they would have been here a long time ago, considering that you had started praying way before I made any decisions.” With that final sentence, Axel’s mother had been dropped from the ceiling and too the ground, being thrown around much like a rag doll, she started screaming from the pain, and that’s when the beast spoke again. “You can scream all you want… no one is going to be able to hear you.”
It was that night that Axel’s life had fallen apart. He had been forced to watch as the demon had tortured his mother, making her scream for mercy, her blood smearing all over the walls, the floor, and the furniture. Some even getting onto the ceilings and Axel himself; his eyes were wide with fear and terror, as he tried to call for his mother, but the demon just continued to drive his fingers into her flesh, tearing her open, causing her to bleed out. His mother’s screams were imprinted in his head and the smell of blood was all that he could smell. Finally, his mother had been silenced, and the demon that had tortured her to death stood over her body, looking down at her, grinning to himself.
Tears were running down the boy’s cheeks, and finally he was able to scream, and he screamed as loud as he could as he stared at the lifeless body of his mother on the floor, whose head had been turned in his direction. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her, and he didn’t even realize that the demon was talking to him. Though the beast had figured that he had done enough, he was a little bored, and suddenly, he had left the body he was possessing, his uncle collapsing to the ground, Axel also dropping to the floor. He crawled over to his mother, and just stared at her, his hands shaking. His eyes were beginning to water as he looked upon the dead body, her head still turned in the direction where Axel had been pinned against the wall. Her skin pale from the lack of blood, there was no life in her eyes as Axel turned her head to look at her face. He choked on a sob, lifted his mother and hugged him to her, ignoring his freaking out uncle.
Soon after his mother’s brutal death, Axel took her body and his freaking out uncle and burned his mother’s remains, except for a necklace that he had stolen from her that she had received from his father. He had refused to allow himself to burn everything that belonged to her, but that wasn’t enough for the two of them. They arranged a private funeral for her, the only ones attending was himself and Mark. They buried an empty coffin meant for her next to her parents with the most gorgeous headstone, one that Mark had picked out… and it angered Axel. There was an angel statue on top of the headstone, and after her brutal death, and praying that they would be saved her, there was a new found hatred that was beginning to sprout deep inside of him. He was angry for what they had allowed to happen to his mother, so much for them protecting their faithful Christians. Axel went like that for the rest of his life, and for the rest of his career he picked up where his mother had stopped in the search for this demon. After her death, Axel had got a memorial for her tattooed onto the inside of his right forearm.
After he had left, he had cut off all contact to anyone that he knew, including his uncle, and within the next five years, there were a few things that Axel had learned about this demon, that his name was Dante. His mother had been tracking him after the murders of his grandparents, Mark and Helena Maverick, both of who were devote Christians who were determined in saving as many people that they could. And they meant everyone, often enough they saved Satanists, followers of Lucifer himself, and he had figured that was what had angered Dante the most. Not that it mattered, Axel was going to find him and kill him. And finally, after three years of being on the trail of the demon, there was finally a sighting.
Axel was young, naïve, and hell bent on seeking revenge. He was a fool and rushed into the situation blind and before he knew it, he found himself running in the opposite direction. He had stolen himself a car and he was racing as fast as he could out of the state, out of the danger, but it wasn’t enough. Dante had a few more steps in front of Axel than he was expecting, and the car that he had stolen was run off the road by Dante himself. The car rolled after being T-boned on the driver’s side. He was left for dead, but within a few hours of the accident, Axel had been found by a local policeman and then rushed to the hospital.
He had gone through nearly countless hours of reconstructive surgery to his face, his nose going through most of it, and then he was placed once more underneath the knife, the doctor’s trying to save the boy’s left side. When he awoke, he was met by his doctor who had told him that because of the excessive damage done to his face and nose in general, Axel will never really have a sense of smell again. Not that big of a loss, but the words that came out of the doctor’s mouth were devastating.
“You took an excessive amount of damage to your left side, a lot of nerves were severed, but there was not much that we could repair. If you’re not careful, you could lose all feeling in the left side of your body, putting you into a wheel chair.”
Something like that would make anyone turn away from the life of a hunter, but that wasn’t Axel. He had too much riding on the dream of killing Dante. After he had been released from the hospital, he had gone out and got himself a German Sheppard, naming her after his mother’s middle name, Winry-Ann. He trained the dog every day to detect the smells that he could not when it was important to the job. And depending on the smell, Winry-Ann barked in a pattern of two’s, three’s and fours; four being the smell of Dante.
Now, there was something else that was neglected in Axel’s history, up until the day that his mother had died, Axel’s mother had been looking for his father, Sastre Quicksilver. But every time there might have been a lead. The search had grown cold. Knowing that it would’ve been important to his mother, Axel continued the search for his father, in order to meet him, for what? He had no idea. Guess it was because the man had the right to know that out there, he had a son. The search for his father was put to an end, Axel had found him, it was just the matter of meeting him, but right now, finding Dante was his main priority, and now, at the age of twenty-five, he was no closer to the demon than he was five years ago.
