The Big Ones*
[/font]Personality
--- >> Tameryn is probably the most like her Mother of all of Karlie and Damon’s children even if some of the aspects of Karlie took a while to show up in her! Growing up in a house full of loud and big personalities forced Tammy to be quiet but perfectly able to look after herself. She learned how to shout and scream her way out of an argument at a very early age and if that failed, throw something! Even when Tammy comes across like she couldn’t give a damn or is simply screaming in your face - she does!! Fights make her belly hurt and she hates them. She’s such a kind bubbly soul and so she isn’t the type that often has people dislike her, when they do its hard for her handle and sometimes she will just come across as the bitch that doesn’t care through lack of being able to handle it. She sorta got the best of her mom and dad, she has Karlie’s gentle and loving side and her dad’s sarcasm and lack of give a shit.
History
--- >> Tameryn Mae was born on the seventeenth of October and was the sixth child and third daughter of Karlieann and Damon Rhys Damara. She was only a mere seven years younger than her eldest sibling and with six kids in seven years Karlie was determined she wasn’t having anymore, Tameryn was to be her last. She came home to one of the most tight knit and loving familys you could imagine. Sure her siblings would fight or pick on her, not to mention her parents were often known to fly off into rages - In the Rhys-Damara house hold you learn to duck. But she never went without and her parents tried desperately to keep their kids away from the problems of real life. For the child of an ex-hunter and a demon. She attended a regular school and spent a lot of time with her sister Chelsea, learning from her I guess you could say. She had an amazing talent for getting herself out of sticky situations and it was so rare for her to ever have to exchange an unkind word but her siblings soon learned, Tammy was a force to be reckoned with.
When Tameryn was eight years old when a new family moved into the house next door to hers. Her Mommy being the woman she is she marched all the kids over to the new neighbours with a welcome basket of pies and cookies. God, what were they? The Von Trapp family? Either way the family were invited in and somehow they ended up playing on the Nintendo Wii. Back then Tammy was a bit of a shy bean and when her eldest sister, Makayla suggested she play against the new neighbour’s eldest child, Kellen. When Tammy tried to protest, Kayla made chicken noises at her until Tameryn rolled her eyes and pulled the remote into her hand. She kicked Kellen’s asssssss at Mario Kart and from there they became friends. It was hard for Tammy to make friends but apparently Kayla really did her a favor there because the major giggles they shared over that game changed Tammy’s entire life because from that day she had a best friend.
At the age of twelve, Tameryn was pulled into the living room with her many brothers and sisters to be told her mother was expecting again. Her eldest brother and her eldest sister kicked up a fuss, thinking it was disgusting. Honestly, Tammy just kinda wondered where she’d fit in to the family. She’d always been the baby. Her siblings were all still technical babies before the next sibling was born. For twelve years she’d been the youngest and got used to it. But Tammy was a good girl and she dealt with it and when Reah was born, Tammy utterly adored her. The year of her birth was one filled with many emotions. Their Uncle Max had died at the beginning of the year, then Reah was born a short couple of months later and then that was the same year that Tammy officially hit her ‘teens’. Once Tameryn turned thirteen her Mom and Dad sent her to the Hunters Academy with her cousins, siblings and huge number of family friends.
She had only been attending for a couple of months and her and Kellen always kept in contact, texting and talking all the time and it was to the point even a couple of days of no contact caused little Tams to worry about her best friend. Tammy rang her mother and the tears suddenly came flooding out, telling her mother how she thought she’d upset Kellen in some way. She didn’t know why this feeling upset her so much but it did. Her Mom being the hot headed individual she was, headed straight over there only be met with the most shocking revelation, something she herself didn’t expect to hear. Karlie and Damon took the full effort to drive down to the hunters academy just so they could tell their daughter what was going on. The second she was pulled out of class and faced with her mother and father’s sad face’s she knew it wasn’t good. She knew she was going to end up hating it. She didn’t realize her Mom was going to tell her that her best friend was being treated for cancer. Tammy practically begged her parents to let her come home and let her go back to her old school and with such desperation in her pretty brown eyes, they couldn’t find any way to say no.
Once they arrived home, Tammy didn’t even bother to unpack, in fact she only entered the house to put her bags inside and then ran next door. Clarissa, Kellen’s mom, had pointed Tammy instantly in the right direction and Tammy practically ran to her best friend, staying strong because he needed her to. At thirteen she showed more maturity than most adults. Tameryn simply walked towards Kellen and laid her body besides his, wrapping an arm around him and whispering. “I’m here ever step of the way! Whatever you need and whenever you need it, I’ll do everything I can.” She stuck to her word as well, even when he didn’t seem to want her to. She went to every one of his chemo sessions and bought the popsicles. She saw him through the best and worst of his time when he was ill. She watched him when he just wanted to sleep. When he felt weak she’d get him comfortable and just lay with him. They could talk for hours about nothing but she hoped it was better than being stuck on his own. And when he was sick, she was there with the bucket. Not your average relationship for young teenage best friends right?
Something happened over the time Kellen was sick. Okay honestly, a lot of things happened over the time Kellen was sick. But Tammy started to realize she didn’t want to be a hunter. There was nothing in her brain that liked the idea of going out and beating on demons. She was raised to believe in that shade of grey that most hunters over looked but unlike her siblings she didn’t trust her judgement. She was far too trusting and while I hate to say naïve, she was. She told her mom that even if Kellen got better she didn’t want to be a hunter, she didn’t want to go back to the academy, she wanted to help people and do something that challenged her and made her life worthwhile. Her Mom had wrapped her arms around her and rolled her eyes with a giggle in that typical Karlie fashion. Her mothers words to her had been ‘Tameryn, you don’t have to do anything for us, you have to live your life for you! You always have a choice and if you don’t want to be a hunter you don’t even have to ask. Whatever you do in your life me and your father will be more than proud of you.’
With all these new ideas in her head, Tameryn’s brain decided she couldn’t quite keep everything from Kel anymore. They had been laid on the grass in his back yard and they’d been staring up at the stars like they had a simple escape within them that the best friends needed. With a deep sigh, Tammy decided to go with the shock factor. “Hey, did you know that demons were real?” She turned towards him and waited for the reaction to hit his face. “Demons, vampires, werewolves, witches… Even angels…. My daddy’s a demon and my mom used to be something that hunted them down. That’s what the special school I went to was. They train hunters. It’s kind of a family business.” She slowly spilled practically everything about her family and then, much to her surprise, so did he. He came from a family of shifters. While this shocked Tameryn, she honestly loved the idea. Her best friend not only didn’t think she was a freak, he was a ‘freak’ with her.
One of the greatest days of her life was the day Kellen returned from a doctors appointment to tell her that he was in remission! They had spent far too long trying to fight this thing and now they could get back to their normal as possible lives. Kellen had returned to school and it made Tammy giddy every time she bumped into him in the halls. The giddy feeling wasn’t just that she was better. There had been, lets say a realization on Tammy part while he was sick that changed the dynamics of how she evaluated her thoughts and feelings towards him. Every time she strokes through his hair, wiped his face, cuddled up to him in bed or giggled with him in a hospital room all she could feel where the butterflies that filled her chest and her stomach. She was still young, and the instinct that told him she loved him was something she didn’t trust but she was definitely starting to feel something for him. Something more than was allowed as his best friend. Tameryn liked him.
Due to her success in class, Tameryn was moved up a grade which meant she moved into her senior year a year early, the year that Kellen left. Their school had this tradition, a ball. The rules were that the seniors wore white and the juniors wore red and at midnight the juniors became seniors. It was honestly a little lame but fun and it was even more so because Kellen was there. He looked so good in that white suit even if he insisted other wise and well her momma had dressed her so she didn’t feel any less than a million dollars. She’d been hiding her feeling for so long that it was hard to believe she hadn’t exploded. Then Kellen came over to her, being a cheese and holding his hand out towards her and requesting a dance. A grin spread over her face as she placed her hand into his and allowed herself to be pulled to the floor. She was dancing with him and looking up at him and just unable to believe how perfect the moment seemed. Then suddenly it seemed more perfect as their lips seemed to naturally gravitate towards one another. They were lost for a moment but as soon as Tammy realized what she was doing she broke away quickly, practically running away into the parking lot.
Naturally Kellen followed, apologizing to her for what he’d done and it became a huge thing. Everything came out in floods of tears. How she’d liked him for years and then she told him how she was in love with him. The words she hadn’t expected back were “I’m in love with you too.” Her big dark eyes clung to him and the next thing she knew her arms were around his neck and her lips were firmly against his. She couldn’t tell you how everything had worked out for them all she knew was that somewhere along that night she’d ended up in his car, and then his house, and then his bed. That night she gave up everything to him. She never regretted it for a moment because that day she got her guy. She wasn’t stupid. She knew it could all fizzle out. She knew they were young and that in a few years time they could both be wondering what they were thinking but in that moment it was all perfect and that was all that mattered.
Their relationship moved fast and the pace was perfect for them. They were young and in love and so happy it was enough to make a person sick. They’d been together just over a year when they were at a concert. Tammy’s favorite song was playing through her ears and before she knew it, Kellen pulled a ring out of his pocket. The most magnificent sparkler. Tammy wasn’t a traditionalist and well the crowd and the noise would have made traditional difficult. Instead her man stood behind her, his arms over her shoulders with the open box pointed at her so the diamond couldn’t help but catch her eyes and that low, grouchy british accent of his simply mumbled into her ears “marry me?”. Well the tears just streamed down her face. She nodded heavily as she choked them back, completely gob smacked and unable to utter a word. He told her to hold up her hand and she did, watching intently as the ring slipped over onto her finger, leaning into him and closing her eyes, swaying happily in her babies arms.
Some of her family reacted a lot better than she’d expected. Her dad seemed to like Kellen, honestly she believed it was more about making him jump through hoops than a dislike for his daughters fiancée. Kayla however hated the idea, went mad about the fact her baby sister planned on getting married. For a long time everything was perfect until she was twenty. They had a fight, the stupidest fight in the world but it just happened to be a month before their wedding had been planning. It was the most ridiculous fight about the fact Kayla refused to come. Tammy didn’t want to get married without her sister and it just became a huge fight. Tammy stormed out and ran crying to her daddy. She called the wedding off and cried refused to speak to Kellen for days. She’d been nasty and the things she’d said were totally uncalled for. She didn’t even honestly remember what she said but she knew it had been uncalled for. Finally Kellen turned up at her door telling her that she was being ridiculous ignoring him. She begged him to forgive her and he told her there was nothing to forgive. She felt so silly. She’d cancelled their wedding and everything over a stupid fight.
It was weird that something had seemed so big at the time and then a matter of days later everything between them was perfectly fine. That was except for how she felt. By that I mean the fact she felt like shit. She was ill all the time; violently sick, feeling dizzy, tired. She just didn’t feel right. Tammy being Tammy went straight to the doctor, worrying like all hell. The doctor told her she was pregnant and her heart sank. She was even more terrified leaving that hospital than she was entering it. When she walked in the front door, Kayla and Reah had been sat in the kitchen. Reah went off to play with her toys and Tammy burst into tears. She thought if she told her big sister she’d be there for her, instead Kayla told her all the horrible things that she didn’t want to think about. She was too young, she’d have to quit college, she didn’t have a job, she’d never have a life again. Then Kayla said the thing that Tammy didn’t already consider and that closed the case for her - “You know Kellen’s going to hate you. You guys only just got back together… Trapping him much? He wont want a baby so you’re either going to lose him or have him because he has no choice.”
Tameryn booked herself in to have her baby aborted. It was sheer desperation and her sisters influence and she couldn’t even tell Kellen. It was the day she was supposed to have her ‘problem taken care of’ when she left the bathroom after being sick to be greeted to her boy standing outside the bathroom. He opened his arms to her and she just froze. As he slipped himself around her and told her he was worried about her, she freaked. He started talking about his cancer and about how he loved her and if it was bad he’d be there like she was there for him and she couldn’t bare him worrying it was something like that so just came out with it and told him she was pregnant. Surprisingly he was happy. She’d even told him that she’d get rid if he didn’t want it but he told her he couldn’t wait to be a dad and as long as she was happy he was happy. The second she realized she wasn’t alone, she was more than happy. Seven months later, their little girl was born. Eden. Perfection. That’s what she was to them. It wasn’t long after Eden was born that Tammy’s mom moved away from the states. Karlie and Damon left Kellen and Tammy the house as well as their little bar. Tammy really started to really enjoy working there. Kellen was still doing a culinary course and between them they juggled their own things, keeping themselves happy and enjoying their daughter. They broke the rule that having a baby meant your life was over because they were happier with their lives after she was born.
Tammy had been at home one day with the little one playing in the background when she got a phone call from her cousin Simi. Simi and Tammy were closer than close, the girl was even Eden’s godmother. Probably the person Tammy trusted most with her life, her secrets and even her child. Simi had been in a state and told Tams about her ex-fiancée attacking her. Well Tammy didn’t even have to give it a second thought, she dropped Eden off with her grandma and drove to go get Simi. Tammy wanted to kill the bastard that hurt her cousin and everyone involved but at the time she was more worried about getting Simi out of there and then after that she just wanted to save Simi the heart ache of any more problems. She promised Simi she wouldn’t tell anyone. Simone wanted to protect her mother and brother from everything and didn’t want to lose either of them because of it. Tammy was so loyal that despite the fact keeping it from her family killed her, she didn’t tell anyone. She didn’t even tell Kellen. She couldn’t.
