Personality

--- >> Nik lives up to his nickname his family gave him - NERD! He’s just quite simply a nutter. You wouldn’t be shocked to find Nik bouncing around the room, red curls bouncing about the place and just being a big old loser with his friends and siblings. He’s an all singing, all dancing bundle of fun. He likes to play tricks and pick on and tease people. He’s the guy that will steal your hat just to hold it above your head and make you bounce for it. Just playful and fun, because it’s the Rhys-Damara way. They were raised never to take themselves too seriously and just love life. You’ve gotta see the good in your own life especially when there’s so much bad out there. Nik is way protective of his little sisters and his niece and nephew but not in the way a lot of brothers he knows. He lets people get on with their lives but if he loves you, you know he’s got your back the second you need him. He’s not violent when it comes to his every day life which is unusual for a hunter to be so laid back.

History

--- >> Clayton and Nikolas Rhys Damara, the fourth and fifth children of Karlieann and Damon, were born on their Mother’s birthday twenty four glorious years ago. They joined their two sisters and one brother as part of an amazingly loving family. They had a pretty normal life. The two boys were really close just as they were with their other siblings. When they were two years old their baby sister Tameryn was born and as she got a bit older, despite the age difference Nik seemed to get a lot closer to Tammy than his other siblings, though he loved them to bits, Nik and Tams just seemed to have a lot more in common. It was even occasionally commented that you’d have thought they were twins with how they were inseparable for so many years. Once Nik started school he found himself bullied heavily for who he was. He was tall and skinny with wild red locks and while his twin seemed to get on with everyone, Nik was the outsider. He dealt with the bullying until he was 9 years old, when he walked in to his Mom’s kitchen and looked up at her and told her he’d rather be dead than go back to school. With sheer confusion, Karlieann had lifted her son up onto the counter and asked him what was wrong, only to be told how her son felt like the outsider in the family and told his mommy how he was being bullied by some of the other kids at school. Well when that met his youngest sisters ears she rushed across the house and grabbed every one of her siblings and they all ran to the kitchen, they all told their brother how they loved him and the 6 child strong brood spend the rest of the day in the kitchen with their Mom and eventually their Daddy baking up a storm. The next day at school; Kayla, Chelsea, Bradley and Clayton rocked up towards the group of boys who were the main source of the bullying while little Tammy (who they all said was too little) kept look out in case a teacher came along. Well they proved you don’t mess with a Rhys-Damara. They practically beat the snot out of the kids. Three of the main bullies were pinned down by other siblings as Kayla wrote “I’M A BULLY” across their foreheads in bright orange sharpie. All the kids except Tammy who the others protected, got in trouble with their school when their momma was told they were out of control, the momma bear in Karlie snapped before their father got the chance and told her that her kids didn’t need this school and that they were great kids. Once they got home, Karlie’s sister was there with all the kids, they immediately gathered in the hall way, lining up in age order with their little heads hanging, looking down at the floor. Karlie and Damon had looked over their rugrats, all bruised and bloody from the fight and then looked towards each other and burst out laughing and even letting out a good job guys. That was the day Nik’s life changed. Why the hell did he care what those bullies said? Why did he even care what his older siblings said when they picked on them?? When it came down to it, his siblings had his back! So did his parents. He never wanted to be anything but a Rhys-Damara.

After they left school, the eldest five of the Rhys-Damara brood went off to attend the hunters academy set up for children like them, set up for the children of current and ex-hunters. It was agreed that Tammy would go when she turned thirteen as she cried at the idea of leaving her daddy. Seven was probably a bit too young to be dragged away from your parents. Nik still struggled a little bit with the whole fitting in thing but he found it easier having his brother have his back after last time and a lot families there that the kids had known their entire lives. Nik was the one that seemed to enjoy the more technical side of things, he wasn’t build for hand to hand combat and computers hated him but give him a gun and he’d hit any target and he was good at co-ordinating, planning and fixing problems that arose. He wasn’t the greatest hunter in the world but he got by perfectly. He met Emma Joyce in his last year at the Academy. She was something he never thought he’d find. She was beautiful and intelligence and had a mean right hook. More importantly she liked HIM. For who he was. It was new and honestly, refreshing. They fell in love and his family fell in love with her. Nik made a career out working in an old, nearly broke, music store near his momma’s bakery and made hunting a hobby of his. Through working in the record store he started up a band. Over the years he’d learned the basics of playing the guitar and the drums and slowly built up his skills while using is natural talent - singing. It was something that seemed to run in their family, fortunately for them, well unless their mother was trying to turn them into a von trapp tribute act - THAT was just plain embarrassing. At the age of 21, Nik and Emma followed his parent’s tradition to the T… Emma’s father came back onto the scene, completely abusive bastard and broke into the apartment the pair shared. Nik came home to find him attacking her and went off on one, using a strength he didn’t know he had in him to beat the crap out of the guy. Emma opened up and finally told him everything about her the things that she thought would always scare him away, but instead of being scared away, Nik channelled his father and offered to prove he was going no where by marrying her. They had a small ceremony 3 days later at his grandmorther’s beach resort with his siblings, his nephew, his parents and some of her family. It was perfect for him but that was where the perfect stopped.

Not long after Nik got married, his little sister Tameryn fell pregnant. Throughout the pregnancy Nik was determined to be there for his sister. They were still crazy close and she got severely ill with the pregnancy. When Kellen couldn’t be there, Nik was. Emma made no secret of the fact she was jealous of her sister in law but the jealousy turned bitter. So bitter it honestly confused the guy. Eventually Emma came out and admitted that since Tammy got pregnant, she’d been trying to and hadn’t succeeded. Eden’s birth and watching her grow up didn’t help but with him knowing about it, Nik helped her try and get pregnant. After a long time of trying without success they finally decided to visit a doctor to see what was going on only to be told that Nik had a low sperm count, so low that it’d make conceiving very hard if not impossible. No guy likes to be told he’s inadequate, especially not when it’s the only thing in the world his wife wants. Emma had got weird with him and pretty much cruel. It broke Nik’s heart because he loved her and she knew that if he could give her a child he would, in a heart beat. Nik had been looking after his baby niece the day after he’d been informed his cousin Simone had been killed by a demon. His baby sister had been taking it so hard that Nik stepped in to help her out but he himself was struggling with the idea of losing Simone. He’d left Emma with Eden for a less than half an hour as he went to go pray. Yeah sounded stupid but for some reason it seemed like a good idea to Nik at the time. When he came back his wife, his niece and all their stuff was gone. Nik was pissed as all hell. Problem was he knew exactly where Emma would be and tracked her down, taking his niece back but not before getting into a huge fight with Em. She told him that his sister and niece were more important than her and he basically said “Yeah, they’re my family.”. He told Emma she needed help and they agreed she wouldn’t come home until she was willing to accept that they weren’t going to have their own child but that they had options and could still be happy. On the first of February, Nik was served divorce papers.
