Hunter
Hunters come about their chosen career paths in different ways, a lot are born to families of hunters choosing to continue their parent's legacies, others chose to fight the forces of darkness as a direct result of things that have happened in their lives. An orphaned child of hunters would gain an automatic place at the Academy, giving them food and shelter as well as an education until the age of eighteen at which time their lives become their own. Hunters have no physical powers but a lot of abilities. In general their strengths lie in hand to hand combat, shooting and their knowledge of the supernatural. To be considered a hunter they either have to actively hunt or have had a life dedicated to such.
Civilian
A civilian is a person with no powers or birth rights, who doesn't practice and normally has no knowledge of what lives in the world. This isn't always to say that they're not useful, from the police to librarians, there's always a use for them and a civilian could also be a formerly possessed victims of demons, victims of loved-ones falling prey to the supernatural, or those in the know who simply do nothing about it. But hey, sometimes naïvety is the best way.
Witch
Witches are people born with powers and abilities, the birth right is normally passed down through generations, leaving it down to their parents as to whether or not they're raised in the way of the craft. Their power levels vary significantly from family to family and how long they've been practicing as powers generally take a lot of time to develop and master. As a witch you can chose one power from the power list below with the option to add more powers through play. Witches can be male or female and a witch or a family of wiccans normally study from and keep a book of shadows which contain information of their friends, foes and spells as well as family history.
Mage
Mages are witches who chose their path as such, studying despite having no power and calling on higher powers to work their will for them through spells, incantations and rituals. Mages have the opportunity to go either way, become good or evil, but depending on your alignment your power works very differently, for example, dark magic normally requires sacrifice or where as white magic is often very limited.
Warlock
Warlocks are dark witches. Just like witches, their powers are normally a birth right but in some cases they're awarded to them by a demon or higher witch, normally for a price. Whether born dark or becoming such due to circumstances, warlocks occasionally have advantage in that they have no sense of right or wrong, or personal gain, again they're only allowed one starting power and if they come from a family of warlocks, their families sacred book is known as a Grimore.
Demon
Demons come in many shapes and forms. There are hundreds upon thousands of demon breeds including possessive demons, often identified by their eye color, these include black eyed demons and yellow eyed demons. Both of these are subject to being exorcised, they enter a human host in the form of a black smoke and have enhanced speed and strength, they can resist high temperatures and are immune to harm as well as the power of telekenis. A yellow eyed demon is a lot stronger with glowing yellow eyes and strong telekinetic powers, the ability to start fires at will and occasionally have the power to control peoples thoughts and actions however they all share a weakness for holy water and salt, black eyed demons more than others. Every other demon is different, so please do your research or feel free to message an admin for help.
Psychic
Psychics are gifted with powers such foresight, clairvoyance ect, and while these powers could also be obtained by a witch, a psychic has no ability to cast spells or use magic, however sometimes they have the ability to use tarot cards or crystal balls, it's different from person to person. There's of course, a lot of fake psychics out there and a lot of genuine psychics live a very scrutinised life and it's become more common for a psychic to deny their powers. Finding a psychic practicing and advertising what they are is rare but they can prove very helpful.
Shapeshifter
Shapeshifters are any person or creature that has the ability to change its form to that of another being. Some shapeshifters can only transform into one thing, while others can take the form of anything they chose or anything once contact has been established. They share many common weaknesses with werewolves though many of them don't have specific times when they must transform, of course, it's different depending on the type of shifter you are.
Werewolf
Werewolves, otherwise known as Lycanthropes, are humans bitten by another werewolf. Three nights out of the month, the night of a full moon and the two days surrounding it, they take on the form of a wolf. This transformation is completely involuntary and is in no way a reflection on the person they are, especially as some werewolves don’t even know what they are. . Silver is the only way to harm a werewolf but beware, they're fast and strong so very difficult to catch. Alternatively, a Loup Garoux is a subspecies of the traditional werewolf. A Loup Garoux can transform at will and retains memories of their actions and in some cases, have the ability to control their actions, however they also transform against their will around the full moon. A Loup Garoux can also be killed by severing its spinal cord. All wolves heal quickly and very rarely retain an injury once they transform back, more so in a Loup than a regular wolf, however only a Loup Garoux can conceive or be born a wolf.
Slayer
Into every generation a slayer is born, one girl in all the world, the chosen one, she alone will stand against the demons, the vampires and the forces of blah, blah, blah. The mantra's kind of unimportant now. Being the slayer used to be a birth right only one woman could obtain, however there were potential slayers scattered all over the world, some in training or some in the dark, only to be called upon the passing of the previous slayer. This all changed in 2003 when the slayer at the time, Buffy Summers and some of her friends performed a ritual to empower all the potential slayers at the time. Slayers are still rare, they incredibly agile, strong, fast and have a natural fighting ability, however they suffer all known human weaknesses.
Whitelighter
A whitelighter is a guardian angel, a good person who's died and been offered the chance to return to earth to help witches and future whitelighters. They have the ability to orb, a way of traveling anywhere in the world by disappearing into whitelights, to heal and to hear the call of a charge. They answer a higher power known as an elder and traditionally it was forbidden for them to fall in love, however those rules are being broken more and more as time goes by. Generally have more than one charge, in fact they could have charges all over the world, meaning they can talk many languages and adapt to any situation. As a rule, a whitelighter should try and remain unknown to their charges, or their charges shouldn't know what they are. They're impervious to harm, anything fatal causing them to just transform into whitelights and reform, however a whitelighter can be knocked unconscious.
Vampire
Vampires are mean, cruel, evil and selfish. They're not this cuddly twilight rubbish, they're nasty and you definitely wouldn't want to let them around your children. Blood sucking fiends at heart, a vampire is soul less and only capable of love and caring when it suits them, blood lust lives within them and is a strong force that makes being a 'vegetarian' by choice literally impossible. They live in fear of the sun, stakes, fire and anything holy and since there are hundreds of slayers roaming around, avoiding them has become more difficult. While there is no such thing as a 'good' vampire, any sort of exception to the 'norm' is considered a unique vampire and must be pre-approved.
Fairy
Fairies, other wise known as Fey, are very special beings. They live on a plane of existence beneath our own, and as such are invisible to most humans unless they choose to be seen. Extremely vain, their human forms are always attractive… and somewhat… unreal and artificial looking at times. This does not mean however that they do not interact with our world, oh no. They usher in the seasons and live in the shadows… and like to trip up humans and push them over. Tricksters at heart, if you’ve ever tripped over nothing its quite likely to have been a fey foot. The fey belong to courts, and all courts have an opposing and balancing court, just like nature. The summer court controls the summer, and has its power in the summer months. These fey enjoy dancing and party’s, and will lure humans into a dance to the death if you’re not careful. The winter court are cold, and sharp, and the winter queen controls the winter months. Perhaps they have no direct control, but they are so in tune with nature, that if one court prolongs its power, winters are longer and summers are short, or vice versa. There are other courts of course, courts of darkness and hounds, of regality and politics, but the summer and winter courts have most interaction with the human world. The fey despise iron because it burns their skin and weakens them, as does salt – except to the sea fey.
