A BRIEF CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Marissa Jane Donavon is just your average girl next door. Sort of. If you were born into a long line of witches and haunted by an age old curse. And don't consider earth magic to be a bit unusual. Did I mention a long line of witches?
But everyone has skeletons in their closets right?Right!
Born the baby of the family, Rissa learned about magic from day one and grew up in a household that was more than a bit unique. With a father in law enforcement and a witch for a mother, she couldn't help but develop a bit of a quirky nature but luckily, most people chalk it up to the fact shes extremely smart and.. well.. her family is just a tad bit different.
Oh, if only they knew.....
From the time she could walk, Rissa took her mothers warnings and her dad's values to heart and let them form her personality. Loyal, honest and generous to a fault, she tosses herself into everything full force and never does anything half measure. For all her brains, though? She tends to be a bit naive when it comes to people and believes that there is some good in every person. Even her oldest sister who's proven time and time again that shes a real witch... And not the good kind.
You can choose your friends but you can't choose your relatives right?
For those just getting to know Rissa, she is a vivacious blond nut that is slightly cracked. Always on the move, she very seldom sits still for long and is always a whirlwind of action. Unfortunately, this leads to a bit of clumsiness and awkward moments but that's just part of life right?
Eternally positive, it takes a lot to bring "Bubbles" down even as she uses her positive nature like a mask to hide her inner thoughts and musings. Although finding a stranger in none, very few people outside of the family truly "know" Rissa. And she likes to keep it that way because its much easier to have meaningless relationships than to risk letting someone know all of her secrets.
Secrets that only her family knows and no one understands.
Yet.
On the flip side of all this sickening goodness? Rissa uses her excessive energy as a whirlwind of nature to hide the fact that she feels like something is missing in herself. From the beginning, she's always felt as if a cloud of doom looms in the future and its effects can be very hard for her to fight. If she does not keep busy, she can sink into a depression that no one can pull her from but Annalise. The worst thing possible for Rissa is to be left with to much time to dwell on inner thoughts.
Hence her current busy schedule working on her masters in archeology and history.
For the last four years, Rissa has thrown herself into school learning and basking in a wealth of information that cushions her in a strange comfort. Her eras of interest are Celtic, roman and early British cultures and their weaponry. It draws her in and its almost eery how much she can glean on instinct from the findings.
Recently, Rissa has accepted an internship at the Smithsonian Museum where she spends a lot of time.
