SPECIES & ABILITIES.
Adrien possesses the power to perceive limited visions of the past of a subject through touching it – an ability known as clairsentience. So long as his hand remains connected directly to the object or person in question, he can actively push the visions he receives, flicking through a number of scenes until he finds one he wishes to see, and upon focusing, play the entire moment out in his mind. This tends to happen at a rush, and would appear to last no more than a few seconds, the time of the visions much quicker than that of 'real time.' It allows him to perceive both the tangible and intangible (spirits and the like). In areas of great significance, the scene of a murder, or nearing an item that has a long history, he gets 'itchy palms', tingling sensations running from his fingertips to the middle of his hand, tipping him off to the presence of psychic residue. There are of course limits to his ability, as he struggles to divine the past of objects owned and utilized by numerous people, and he remains unable to push his visions too far into the past.

A BRIEF CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Adrien Lefevre was born and raised in the bustling metropolis that is New Orleans. Having lived a rough early life, battling severe AD/HD and suffering the loss of his mother, his prospects entering his teenage years weren't all too bright. Near completely unqualified due to his lack of concentration during crucial educational exams, he left high school with nothing – his situation only made worse by the emergence of his latent clairsentience – the psychic power to read the pasts of places, people and objects through a mere touch. Unable to control the gift he'd been given, being thrown into psychic trauma near every time he made contact with surfaces, he disappeared from the world unsure of what to do with his life – if indeed there was anything that could be done. He became an alcoholic and a heavy smoker, believing the abuse of such substance dulled his mental abilities, and softened the crushing failure he felt on a near day to day basis.
It was during his self-imposed exile that he was found and aided by one Florence Duchampe, a psychic in her own right, who taught him how to control his gifts, and showed him that life could get better if he wished it. He emerged again as much the person he had been in his young life; cocky, sarcastic and charming, possessed with a want to aid others as Florence had him; a man with a future and a partner, having fallen madly in love with his aide as she had him. Enrolling in a police academy, he decided that was where his life would take him. Alas, his ADHD was to hinder him again. Physically fit, he met all the criteria for the physical exams. However, he couldn't concentrate during lessons, nor through any long written piece. Thus – all theoretical tests were failed, and he felt his dreams shattering once more.
Afraid of him giving up, Florence suggested becoming a private detective, a man outside the law who could be hired by firms to do base detective work, looking up cold cases, working with fraud analysis, finding missing persons and working as an almost off duty cop. He jumped at the idea, and the pair went into business together, him doing the footwork, her acting as a secretary, note taker, jotting up any evidence necessary so that what he found could be admissible in a court of law.
The partnership lasted 2 years. He loved the life he lived, and earned quite a reputation for himself, a number of the New Orlean's public coming to call him 'Poirot' due to his quick mind and ability to solve the almost unsolvable. However, Florence became disenchanted with the lifestyle, wishing to pursue her dreams of becoming a lawyer, and was constantly put on edge by Adrien's demons; his drinking, smoking, gambling and flirtatious nature. She constantly accused him of cheating, and what had been a strong relationship broke down, her leaving him to go to college to achieve something – something that didn't involve him.
From that moment on, Adrien has tried to be a private eye without assistance, although his life has become much less glamorous. Before, he had a nice flat, a girlfriend who aided him, and someone to write up his case notes. Now he is forced to live in a run down apartment, work lonely, long cases, often ending in violence, and type up his own evidence; something he struggles with due to his AD/HD. He still sees Florence, who is now a civil attorney. Their meetings tend to be brief, sporadic, although he will always find her if he wishes someone to represent evidence in court. Amazingly, he has managed to retain much of his former nature though, not yet devolving into his darker self, even despite his substance abuse, although there are times when his grip on his power is shaky thanks to his love of drink.
