--pretty pretty to come soon soon-- The sun was a bright orange glow on the horizon by the time Ever made his way back to the beach-side apartment from the job site. He was eager to get back to the small residence and wash away the soreness and sweat from a day of back-breaking work, but even more so he was impatient to get back to the young woman with whom he shared the flat. Since the night Rumour had died in his arms and then was resurrected as… something altogether different, the couple had learned to live life anew; an extreme transformation taking place within the both of them. Rumour had risen from her phoenix ashes with a contentment and a passion for life that had infected the young amnesiac a well; driving them to seek a purpose in existence not only for one another, but for themselves. Though Ever still longed for the memories that haunted him like a vague shadow, he had found solace in the shifter’s arms; a peace in his heart that seemed to have been lacking even before waking in that hospital bed with no recollection of who or what he had been. He was simply Ever Goodman; a man that worked hard and loved even more intensely.
His feet found a swift pace that led him home within a half hour of the close of his shift. A wide boyish beam was spread over his face as the simple white flat came into view, and he was already tugging the stained white tee-shirt over his head as he bounded up the steps that led to their door two and three at a time. Ever couldn’t get the key in that door fast enough, dropping them twice before finding the hole and finally pushing it open; his heart hammering in anticipation of a visage that had gotten him through the long, strenuous day. He found Rumour in their little living room, lounging on a small sofa that was set before the floor to ceiling window that looked out onto the ocean. The sight of her wistful smile as she gaze out open it took his breath away.
“Hey Miss. Kitty…” He said absent; a side-ways, boyish smile creeping over his already satisfied countenance. Ever eased onto the couch beside her, dropping the stinky shirt on the wood floor beneath them and sliding a tawny arm around her shoulders. He was sweaty from a day of labor in the sun and knew rubbing his perspiration all over her would gross her out, but it was their routine. Despite the fact that they had become lovers where they had once been merely friends, it hadn’t changed the way they played and teased one another. “You smell that? That’s the smell of moolah in my pocket. I got a raise today...” Ever beamed and stroked his body against hers. The raise wasn’t much, but it was an extra couple of bucks every hour…not to mention the fact that it meant the higher ups had taken notice of his hard work and ethic.

Rumour Everley spent a lot of time looking through that window, and in truth, it had little to do with the view. Not that she didn’t love the view, not that she didn’t adore the ocean waves she could see through the thin sheet of glass – not that she didn’t revel the fact she could smell the salt of the sea if she but opened the window, could practically feel the spray on her skin, but Rumour spent so much time looking through that window simply because she could. After spending so many years in the darkness, opening her eyes to light had been at first, terrifying. It was not an experience the vixen wished to remember, more so because of the things that had been said – that had been left unsaid. Now Rumour had indeed found a love for the life she had been so sure had left her; it was a life the brunette was still not sure she deserved, was a life she was still not sure was real, but she clung to it by tooth and claw, and took every day as it came.
Perhaps the most obvious way she had done this of course left small clues on her arms and clothes, tangled in her hair. Rumour had found herself a job working just down the street, in a day care, realising for the first time in ten years her dream of working with children. Not that she thought she could ever have them herself, nor indeed was she sure she even wanted them... but she found a deep seated sense of joy in looking after and playing with them at the day care, and though she may come home worn out every night, the job had given her a vibrancy that sitting around and waiting for death had long since taken away.
She hadn’t even heard the door open, so lost in her own thoughts as she looked out the large window, and the first she noticed Ever was home was his greeting, turning and beaming at him. ”Hey Stinkeh” She said, the grin turning sly, and then to one of grossed out-ness when he sat next to her and slipped his arm about her bare shoulders. Pulling a face, she shoved him in the chest – but to be fair, she was covered in paint, mud, sand and possibly some blood from a scraped knee this morning anyway, she doubted whether a little sweat from the man she loved was going to make ALL that much difference.
It was still gross though.
”Moolah? They gave you a raise! That’s amazing! Well done!” She beamed again, forgetting about sweat to wrap her arms around his neck and lay a chaste kiss on his lips a moment. ”We should celebrate! Beccauusee.... i got paid today too! I can finally start paying towards the rent.” In truth, that thought excited her – Rumour loved the idea that she could pay something towards it... she had always felt like she was sponging off of him when they had started living together, even if the situation had been borne out of necessity.
”Eurgh... but first you have to shower. You really do stink.“

Ever smiled boyish at Rumour’s enthusiasm and tightened an arm around her middle as she snaked a limb around his neck, leaning in to breath in her virtuous lippy embrace. Regardless of the sweat, paint, baby food and whatever the hell else stained his girlfriends top Ever covered her with his body, pressing her backwards into the settee. A wily smile spread over his face at her own announcement, and his dark gaze traveled over her face; memorizing the blissful beam that graced her visage, and the light that shown in her eyes. Happiness fairly exuded from the young woman, and the amnesiac drank it in like a thirsty man at the stream. He could feel that pleasure as if it were a tangible thing. It enveloped him in an electric heat that seeped into his bones; exhilarating him. Driving him crazy like she never failed to do…
“Look at my kitty go. Let her loose in the world and she takes it over. Fucking A Rumour, good for you…” He stole another kiss and lifted slightly to look down on her, trailing his fingertips across her brow to move a lock of chocolate that had fallen there. His grin became devious and he shifted slightly atop her, hips finding a comfortable place against hers.
“Are you saying you want to commemorate this momentous occasion in the shower? Because I’m good with that…so fucking good…” he laughed boyish and thrust against her once more, then reluctantly pulled himself up, heaving her along with him.
Standing upright now Ever went for the button of his jeans, sliding it free and letting the jeans hang open at his hips. “After the shower I’ve got another kind of celebration planned…but you’ll have to wear some of those clothes you bought when you went shopping with Thai. And don’t ask me where we’re going either. It’s my turn to be sly.”
Still grinning sideways and clever he used the right foot to awkwardly push off his work boot, and then the socked foot to work off the other. He reached out to finger the taunt belly under her orange and white shirt and then lowered the hand to play coy with the waist band of her dark grey trousers. Tugging lightly at the waist band, Ever pulled her to his hips and then let her loose, repeating the slow, suggestive bumping a couple of times before walking backward and bringing her with him.
“You know I’ve got his place on my back I can’t reach…I really might need help in there…”

”In the shower? Really? What kind of girl do you think I … oh wait. Scratch that. I remember what happened the last time we took a shower together. You know exactly what type of girl I am….“ Rumour grinned up at him, running her foot along the outside of his calf as she did so. Really… when they had been nothing more than friends who enjoyed winding each other up, she had no idea that this eternally horny male lived just beneath Ever’s otherwise demure surface. Sure, they may have watched porn together… but still.
Sometimes she wondered if it had anything to do with his lack of memory, and he was successfully reliving his teenage years all over again. Not that the brunette cared as the man above her ground his hips into hers and she hung her arms from his neck – Rumour wasn’t sure she had ever grown out of that stage herself.
A small groan escaped her lips when he pulled away from her, though she tightened her arms around his neck, clinging to his shoulders when she found herself being pulled up too. It never failed to surprise her just how easily the man could lift her – though, perhaps a testament to her own fractured, but mostly concealed mentality, she always put it down to the fact he spent all day hauling around timber and dirt at his job rather than it having anything to do with the fact her collarbones did somewhat protrude from her chest rather obviously.
Biting the head of her piercing she frowned at her, before dragging the spider shaped adornment across the pale enamel of her teeth, rolling her eyes. ”You? Sly.. can’t I even just get one little hint?” She pouted, but quickly realised that he wasn’t about to give up such a piece of information, and instead leaned forward to bite his chin. ”Fine. You can be sly this time. But just this once. ”
Anything further was lost as he grazed those fingers over her tummy, the slow bumping doing absolutely nothing to help with the fact that she was trying very hard to pretend to be annoyed with him and his slyness, and in truth, it took mere seconds for her to forget all about it once he started pulling her back towards the bathroom. ”You mean you expect me to wash the dirt from your skin? What do I look like? A perverted 14th century French maid?” Rumour smirking, sticking her tongue out at him as she dropped one hand from his neck to twist the door handle to the bathroom, letting them both into the clean white room. Well, if there was one thing the girl was good at, it was keeping the place tidy. You could probably eat of the floors in their apartment, the same as you always could in her fathers house. When she had been much younger, had still shifted when one of her fathers rants had begun, you never knew when that might have happened.
Taking her turn to push him Rumour forced him back into the bathroom tiles, leaning around him to switch on the shower and start the run of hot water before dragging the grimy white and orange shirt over her head, and tossing it in the direction of the hamper in the corner.

Oh yeah…Ever knew just what kind of girl Rumour was. He’d gotten to know it real good. The woman was a fox alright, and not just in supernatural form sometimes. To Ever she was the sexiest female alive. Her lips…her hair…her body (though her jutting bones still tended to make the man shove as much fattening fast food at her as he could.) That wasn’t even mentioning how smart she really was. And clever? You’ve never seen a female so cunning.
He was smirking, looking down into those crystalline orbs and so fucking grateful that within him now he could see himself in their unfathomable depths. When she had been blind he’d been able to look past the milky surface to read her in a way that other people had not been able to, but now… now he could see forever.
Ever’s dark eyes went distant and wistful when she mentioned something about a fourteenth century French maid. Immediately mental images of the lithe woman in a frilly black and white maid getup tightened his body, and the smile that curved up his lips was pure sin. “You could look like one. I know where to get one of those costumes…” He answered in a husky, but playful tone, allowing her to pull him through the threshold of the shower room. Once there the Fox took control, pressing his back into the cold white tiles as she started the balmy spray. Ever couldn’t move as he watched her tug the striped shirt over her head slow and deliberate, nor did he want to. His lids dropped heavily as his chocolate gaze whispered down her swan neck and across her creamy breast. Dragging his tongue over his bottom lip he brought a hand up to the bulge that was beginning behind the slack zipper of his jeans and palmed him self, groaning low in his throat.
The air around them became thick and humid as the steam spilled from the shower, and as much as he wanted to pull the woman toward him and rid her of the remaining cloth, Ever was caught in her deviously sparkling stare like a fly in a spider’s web.
“You…need any help with those?” He asked boyishly and his voice cracked, so he cleared his throat, trying one more time. “I could just…”
Ever pushed off the wall and moved towards her, keeping his dark gaze in hers as his fingers deftly found the drawstring of her trousers. Pulling slow and deliberate like she had removed her top, the corner of his lip twitched up furtively as the string came open and it was his turn to regain control, pressing her bottom against the counter opposite the shower as he slid the pants leisurely down her hips.
His eyes widened at the sight of her sexy little boy shorts, and he arched a brow, fingering the little pink bow at the front of them. “I’ve never seen these before…” He blinked, lifting his gaze back up to her crystalline one as he leaned into her, pressing his need against that very bow. “I like them…”

Rumour bit on the head of her piercing as his hands found the cord on her hips. Wrapping her arms once more around his neck, her forearms balanced on his shoulders whilst her hands hung lazily from his back, watching his face rather than the deft movement of his digits. She had spent a night, once, what seemed like a lifetime ago, memorising that face with the soft embrace of her own fingers, committing it to her mind so that she wouldn’t soon forget. Even then, despite her denial and the harsh words she had whispered in his ear, she had been in love with him. Now she wondered how she had ever denied it, when he had the power to make her knees so weak.
Stepping from the soft fabric of her trousers, Rumour kicked those towards the laundry basket too, fond as she was of keeping things in their place, she was soon distracted by the press of his finger against the bow of her underwear, resulting in the slow grin that spread across her lips. ”They’re new. I bought them when i went shopping with Thaila. “ She told him, pushing her hips into his as he did the same to her, her hands falling from his neck and trailing down the balmy, slick skin of his chest, dragging her nails slightly until they reached the hem of his open jeans. Rumour slipped the very tip of her forefingers inside the waist band of his boxers, peeking out from inside the denim and grinned, tugging on it gently. ”i’m glad you approve. Because you know, that’s all i worry about, whether or not you approve of my wardrobe choices “. Despite the sarcastic tone to her voice, there was a small amount of truth that rung in her words as she pushed the denim from his hips, to pile about his ankles on the floor-.
It was true that when they first saw each other again, after he had called her a monster; a scar to her heart that was slowly healing, she had worn clothes that hadn’t exactly been her... just so he might see past the monster part of her. But the more time she spent with him now, the more she had started to realise that the words meant nothing, and the scar had healed faster.
Slipping her hands once more into the hem of his boxers, she drew her hands around to his back and slipped them further in, her hands gripping the tight muscle that made up his behind as she stood on her tiptoes to kiss his chin, nipping it lightly with her teeth. ” Come on stinkeh. Into the shower with you.“ She grinned, removing her hands from his boxers to push him in the way of the shower.

It was hard for the man to drag his eyes from that small pink bow and the thin material that separated him from heaven, but he did, finding them now caught in her unfathomable, quixotic gaze. There had always been mischief in that gaze, even when their depths were milky and inactive Ever had found in them the twinkle that revealed the true spirit of the woman; a woman he could no more do without than the very air he breathed. Once, he had seen his dreams in those eyes. Now, he was living within them.
Ever sucked his bottom lip in between his teeth and bit down hard; distracting him self from the jolt of electricity that shocked him each time her body crashed into his. At the moment he could barely concentrate on much save the pulsing in his lower half, but he nodded in acknowledgement when the small blonde vampire and the shopping trip were mentioned. That shopping trip had turned his fox into a vixen. As her fingertips raked down his chest it drew a tremble out of the young man. Goosebumps rose all over his tawny flesh and his breathe shuddered out audibly; dark eyes slamming closed and his body rocking up and forward to meet the digits sneaking down into his jeans.
Rumour’s hands were nimble, and when they pushed the heavy denim down his hips Ever let out a sigh of relief. Dropping his strong arms down around her back the man pulled her against his steely chest; breathing in her warmth and her affection as much as her desire. The silvery bond that had connected them once and was severed, if only for a moment during the transition between life and…unlife, was still healing. The pair of shattered souls were mending; together, and one day at a time.
Ever lowered his chin so that Rumour could nibble the stubbly skin there and then caught her mouth with his own a moment before she had a chance to prod him toward the spray. Still having his arms snaked around her hips the young man smiled slyly down at her and arched a brow; wondering what those little unmentionables would look like wet from the shower. He decided against it; knowing his girl all too well and the kind of punishment she could inflict upon him (especially given the situation he was in at the current moment) and released her to quickly rid his lower half of the boxer shorts. Sprung free, his body tightened even more, so Ever pressed him self against her, stealing another heated kiss as he swiftly pushed the silky material down and bent to pull them playfully off her leg, then tugged her into the delicious fall of water.
Much later the young man and his date stood just outside a crowded nightclub. The hypnotic rhythm spilling out of the building matched the pulse Ever felt in his chest, and he wasn’t exactly sure if was from the music as much as it was the after effects of the afternoon Rumour and he had so sufficiently shared. Unable to keep the boyish, satisfied look off his face Ever bounced a little on his heel and glanced down at his girlfriend; a fire erupting in his belly again just seeing her dressed up and remembering what it felt like moving inside her before.
“I was all excited about bringing you here…” He said, bending his lips close to her ear so that she could hear him over the crowd. “But now I’m thinking we could have had more fun staying home and doing THAT again.” Ever waggled his eyebrows and looked all of 16 years old, letting out a chuckle as they moved forward in line just a little.

Ever was not the only one who wishing they could have stayed in the apartment that night, but unlike her boyfriend – god it felt weird thinking that, but rumour found it also more than pleasant- Rumour wasn’t joking. She disliked these places. She disliked the men who ground against her, the noise, the smell – it made her skin crawl and her hair stand on end. Rumour found herself clinging to Evers hand, pressing in against his side and donning an expression she knew how to wear well – one of nonchalance. She could see now. This wouldn’t be like the last time. Her dad wasn’t in there. And she had Ever, clinging to her hand and pressed against her side. She was going to be fine.
It was a mantra she repeated over and over as she tugged on the tight top that clung to her skin. It kept riding up her stomach, and she was paranoid about the still pink scars that marred the skin just above the hemline – almost as paranoid as she was about her dad discovering that he failed, and his daughter still walked this earth rather than writhed in hell. Clacking the bar of her piercing over her teeth, rumour shivered and blinked, her eyes changing colour with each meeting of her painted eyelashes. Yes, she still struggled to control the fox that prowled beneath her skin, that longed to make up for countless years of confinement, but even it knew now was not a good idea to force control over her form, and when Ever leant over to press his lips close to her ear, her eyes turned back to normal and she relaxed.
There was nothing to be nervous about. They were here to have fun
Leaning into him a little more, Rumour let go of his hand to wrap her arm around his back, her fingertips tickling his side gently as she grinned up into his face. ”You know if you wanted to go back, i wouldn’t blame you. “ She called back to him, just loud enough for him to hear over the voices, slipping a hand into his back pocket and squeezing his bum as she spoke. Yes. Rumour was indeed a vixen, and nerves were not about to change that.
Shuffling forward a little more, she peered around the people in front of them to see how far away they were from the entrance, and was surprised there were only two more couples in front of them. ” Though if i were you i’d make your mind up quick before we get to the fr- too late“ The couple had turned out to be a group, and now Rumour was face with a tall, muscled and bald man, wearing an earpiece. Eurgh. She had never liked bouncers. They were too much like cops.

Ever squirmed when Rumy’s nimble digits played piano at his side; his grin blooming wider when she confessed that the idea of a reply on the night’s earlier events weren’t out of the question. He jumped slightly as the hand slid down to grasp a butt cheek, laughing lightly at the thoroughly impish look sparkling in her crystalline eyes a moment before they found themselves at the front of the line.
No matter how satisfied Ever was after the afternoon romp, he still wanted more. He always wanted more. Perhaps it was how maddeningly close he had come too many times before they actually became a couple; now the young man was having to make up for all those nights the fox had left him aching and desperate. Confessing to her with his body and his mouth all those things he had been so fraught to admit before but could not.
But there would be plenty of time for mattress dancing; tonight they were going to do some real dancing. They were going to have some fun.
The club was brand new and he’d heard it was amazing; not just the vibe but the actual structure itself. He’d paid the place a visit a night or two before just to scope it out, finding it even more so than described. This was something his girlfriend had to see. Shuffling forward until the crossed the threshold into LIQUID, the amnesiac paused, his brown eyes widening as he took in the remarkable scene around them.
The whole place seemed to be made of glass, from the floors, to the bar counters, even the stairs leading up to the second floor. Behind much of that glass was some unknown liquid; some of it was obviously water judging from the live sea life floating within; other aquariums boiling over like an angry sea.
Even the dancers on the transparent floor seemed to move with liquid fluidity; gyrating to music that was languid and infectious. Ever felt his form swaying to the sound; drawn almost into the sea of rolling bodies. Instead he guided Rumour to one massive aquarium backed bar, pulling out a stool for her and then leaning sideways against the counter to face her.
“Will you get a load of this fucking place?!” The young man cursed in appreciation; waving down the bartender before returning his attention back to his date. “You think they ever spring a leak?”
He grinned, then pointed to a little clown fish floating just behind the busy tender. "Look! Its Nemo!"

Leaning into his side, anyone looking at the pair as they entered the club might have thought themselves to be looking at somewhat of a mirror image as Rumours expression matched her boyfriends, wide eyed and perhaps a little open mouthed. This was the first club she had been into since she had regained her sight, and it was truly a visual feast for the poor girl as she leaned a little more into Ever’s side. ”Wow” she whispered, her eyes travelling across the waterfalls and the aquariums and drinking it all in. Finally turning away from it, she looked up at Ever and grinned big, showing the pearly whites of her even teeth. ”Okay. This place makes up for dragging me out.” She told him enthusiastically, and quite happily followed him as they headed for the bar, sitting on the offered chair.
Twisting and crossing one leg over the other, Rumour smiled back at the man looking at her, grinning at his little outburst of swearing. Evers voice was always something Rumour had found interesting – after all there had been a time when her lovers voice was all she had to go on, the gentle tilts of his intonation the only giveaway to the man’s usually guarded emotion. Then, she guessed, he had worked hard to conceal such things from her... now she was glad he had no need. She enjoyed the range of emotion that spread across his features, and could sometimes find herself staring.
His orgasm face was hilarious.
Turning her head to look where he was pointing, Rumour grinned. ”Nemo!” She burst out, sound far more excited and giddy than she meant too, and bite her lip, grinning still. It was true that Rumour loved the water – she adored it and thus this club was perfect for her – even if she was somewhat terrified of deeper water... though she presumed that had something to do with the not so long ago experience of almost drowning when a stray kicked ball had knocked her over the edge and into the depths. Still, she forgot that with a subtle shift of her legs, the drawing of her piercing over her teeth – that had been a different Rumour. A girl to weak to run away from the father who beat her. She wasn’t that person any more.
As the bar tender returned with their drinks, Rumour lifted hers to her lips and sipped, testing the dark liquids taste. She still wasn’t a heavy drinker, and this was not something she had tried before. Putting the glass back down, she asked of course what had to be the obvious question. ”What is that? I don’t think i’ve had it before.”
